I'm lucky to have had the pleasure of cruising up this route several times, a couple of times single handed. The video's special for me as it's a journey through my history, being born and raised in Rawmarsh & Parkgate, as well as working in and around Sheffield for well over 45 years - the next part of your cruise up through the Tinsley flight to the City. Thanks again for taking the time to post your experiences; enjoyed and appreciated in equal measures. 👍 👍
Great to see you on my local canal. I often walk and occasionally film on the Sheffield and Tinsley Canal. Hope you enjoyed the Loop De Loop boat on your way thru the Tinsley locks.
Jo, Michael have you got the clear waste app on your phone, you take a picture of fly tipped waste and it uses your location and contacts the registered land owner or local authority.
Canal water is where grosse shower and dish and men's toilet waste etc and everything else like dead bodies. Industry illegal waste, shopping carts, motorcycles, chemical from engine servicing from other narrowboaters.
🙂Don't worry about the lack of scenic beauty - I quite enjoy watching t'industrial heritage pass by. It's quite interesting, really along with your observations as to regeneration taking place. And the weather was nice, too. I don't remember seeing this stretch before either, but I'm sure you did it. Maybe the weather was greyer last time? Light changes everything.
I'd always assumed (maybe wrongly !) that the bonded warehouse was a hang over from the days when freight from Europe was brought up the canal from the Humber ports.
@@MinimalList I think in the 80's there was a push to use the canal again for freight & that warehouse was developed to handle it. There was also the small landing that you passed before Aldwarke lock next to Thrybergh Bar Mill that was going to be used for the same purpose. Never got off the ground though.
Despite it being so industrialised the canal's still very tranquil and in a strange way scenic. Shame about all that vandalism painted on the bridge walls. Dumped oil, you can just put it in your diesel tank as has been suggested.
@@MinimalList A paper coffee filter or a few paper towels in the funnel is enough filtering. Mainly just to keep from clogging up your engines fuel filter. Most older diesels run good on it.

The music suited the journey! Nice chill watching this evening. Thank you for all you do in sharing your boat life ❤
I wouldn't worry too much, good boaters like yourself give boaters a good name!

Greetings both from Crick.
Hope you're both well and George.
Thanks for posting a journey we would unlikely make.
Keep safe and warm and virus free.
Thoroughly enjoy your travels and as a single boater of a ‘certain’ age I wouldn’t attempt on my own so thanks for taking me with you 🦆💕

No we didn't know about that. Thanks for the tip!
Wondering if the Clear Waste app has a North American equivalent. Couldn’t find it in the App Store.
The canal water was so calm and reflective.
Days when the water is this flat are rare but they are wonderful when the happen.

bad apples in all barrels, your doing your best everyone can see that. All the best Gary n Irene
It is starting to look cold, lovely but cold. Nice area to cruise around though.

I think it is.

Don't go using old oil, it's been removed for a reason. Would you use someone's old oil change in your car? Same with diesel, it won't be clean.
Y’all look cold. Hope it warmed up.
❤
Been a mess a few years now. Mainly due to overstayers. CRT swatey
So, I am guessing its not legal there to just dump that used oil in to your diesel tank?
Don’t know of any specific legal issue but I can’t imagine it would be good for the engine without some good filtration. M

where's George?
He is there if you look carefully. Check the timecode 10:45. Sorry there is not more clips of him. Will do better net time.
And he walked with Michael to the first lock…
