More and more sports fans are turning to platforms such as You Tube, Spotify, Apple and etc... and independent content creators for their fix of sports opinion and analysis.
Independent content creators provide fans with different perspectives to broadcast alternatives because they are independent and in most cases are not constrained by sponsors or broadcaster bias, which is something that sports fans are wanting. Someone to either argue with or to validate their views.
The appeal of Independents is also ability through social media, you can engage and debate directly with them which is something missing in broadcast. Making the independents content creators mini-celebrities as fans talk about the "people talking sports" as well as the sports themselves.
On our latest podcast we were lucky enough to be joined by Zak from the Hakatime Rugby You Tube Channel, who is in our opinion one of the most engaging and analytical independent creators of rugby content on You Tube. Zac shares with us his story including how he started out, why he started his channel, his journey over the last three years and how he handles both positive and negative feedback fan the fans.
