  • In this video I discuss the holy trinity of product knives, Chris Reeve, Strider and Rick Hinderer. Back in the day they were regarded as the "holy trinity" of knives. The thing is, they are IMO the top 3 US made knife companies. Thanks for watching.

I share the same sentiment. Seems like I always come back to crk, strider and some times hinderer. They have "soul" that I don't get with a lot of other knives. .
It's a great time to buy crks and hinderer and hopefully strider will start producing larger runs of knives to drop prices. I just way over paid for a Sj75 because I don't think we'll ever see that model made again.

I've had to deal with Strider warranty twice, and the last time is the straw that broke the camels back. I sold all my Striders after that and will never a Strider ever again. I'll have no problem giving money to CRK though - their offer the bets bang for the buck and they have the best CS. Their SPA service is unmatched.

Shiro and rockstead would be next in line for entering the production trinity imo. Way in front of the Chinese manufacturers

CRK is the way to go, their warranty is great and the Sebenza with the bushing and only 1 tool to take the whole thing down is great. The Zaan is also great but right now can’t find a Zaan for less that $400 and 21s are similar

Hinderer. Step 1= buy 3.5. Step 2 = get TI scale and matching clip and filler tab. Step 3 = get re-grind for slicability. Step 4 = never look at other pocket knives ever again.

I was given a Strider knife several years ago that came with no box or documentation. How can I tell if it's a real Strider, or a cheap Chinese clone?

Yes they are nothing any better . Reate,WE,Kizer & maybe another Chinese high end brand rival those knives in quality but their warranties pail in comparison simply because your forced to ship your knife overseas. There’s no ther US company as good as the 3 you’ve mentioned in your video. I bought a 2019 ZT 0393glcf a month ago and the harpoon swedge at the top of the blade spine was ground asymmetrical . I sent it back to KAI and they said it was in spec and would not replace the blade under warranty. Just an example of how companies can be KAI also went up on the price of their ZT line of knives

I also recommend buying CRK second hand. Not only are they built tough, but in my experience 99% of owners like to baby their $400 knives so they hardly use it. Just make sure it's not a counterfeit before you buy it. So check the seller ratings history.
