Markings are nice for breeding. Since there are 6 markings and 6 stats, you can put a marking to keep track of which of a Pokémon's stats have perfect IVs.
One time I got a pokemon on the GTS in Black that had a mail that was like "Old man is my friend. I like burning grass with old man" and it gave me a good giggle. XD
Stuff like Pr videos suffered due to X and Y only having 1 year of being the newest game, compared to Oras having 2. I remember checking them out a lot when X and Y were still the newest game
I loved all of these features 😭 Taking photos and acting and just hanging out with my mon was my FAVOURITE thing as a kid, and I still do it! It’s small but fun
13:57 I use marks to help mark what pokemon have what rule in one of my nuzlocke variants, but that's about it. also, I loved using the photo club right after a pokemon evolved. (Rotomdex directed you right to the photo-making void, haha.)
I use the marks to keep track of which stats have 31 IVs on each Pokémon if they have any perfect stats, since each of the 6 stats correlate to the 6 marks.
Sheen isn’t used at all in ORAS(but is kept track of if you transfer a Pokémon with some from gen 3/4 to BDSP). Also, it’s just there to limit how high you can raise contest stats.
Never heard of that memory feature, the movie one, and I didn’t even know the markings meant anything. Used the picture feature maybe a couple times. And mail just was boring. Definitely didn’t use Dream World though. I mainly used GTS and Wonder Trade; got all the other Gen 4 starters that way from a Japanese player. I’ve mostly focused on the story and battling part. It would’ve been cool if mail was used to send longer messages, but I have a feeling that that kind of feature would be easily abused in the worst ways unless it was moderated throughout software. Can’t have anyone talking about Confagrius. I still find how that Pokemon was banned from the GTS to be hilarious.
I do remember sheen, It was a big part in contests since it limited how many poffins a mon could eat. It basically existed to balance your mon so it wouldn't have infinite stats. It was nice since you could see that limit.
I have never used the online features except in a few games on the 3DS games since doing stuff online on the DS system was hellish and the Switch requires you to pay for it to be used when it used to be free. Therefore I never had the chance to use the GTS or Dream World. Other things like the Cross-compatibility of Gen 3 to Gen 4 is another feature I never used because the first console I got was the DSi and these days finding a GBA game is like winning the lottery a dozen times.
The GTS was cool when the offers weren’t just legendaries that couldn’t be acquired. Which was and probably is still a problem with it. Never understood why those users weren’t delisted until they put something more reasonable or at the least the system would only show offers based on what the player has. I was able to get all the starters in Platinum easily. They charge for online trade? Yeah…really doesn’t make me feel that ecstatic about paying for a game filled with glitches, the DLC and paying for an online service. Probably why if I get a Switch, I’ll just pick up Arceus and ZA.
I like using the markings to indicate stuff amongst my Pokémon. The star is for shinies; blue is for random full odds shinies, and red is for hunted or mystery gift shinies. Circle is for event Pokémon; red is for mystery gifts & 7 star raids (plus the Walking Wake, Iron Leaves, & shiny Gimmighoul raids), and blue is for mass outbreak events and paradox raids (aka Pokémon you can get under normal circumstances, but have an otherwise impossible met location). The heart is for Pokémon of sentimental value: a specific individual Pokémon that I hold dear to my heart for irl reasons, my very first shiny, and a random full odds shiny I found by complete accident when I ran into it while hanging out in a Union Circle with my best friend; those are currently the only ones with hearts.
Yes, i have a use for marks, not often, but when I'm going through my pokemon and calculating IV's, then i mark the ones i potentially want to train up, breed with or teach a specific moveset 😅
I used markings in scarlet and violet because I had three different teams for each storyline and it helped to keep track of which pokemon was on what team so I didn’t get them mixed up
I completely forgot about the Gen 6 Mechanics in this video. I used mail a lot when I was a kid as I would trade and battle others a lot, but also myself as I had multiple versions so I would write goofy messages and things or want to show off the cool mail borders. I used markings to track IVs when breeding as the top comment when posting this says, I'm currently using it in my playthroughs of older games to track completion of EVs, Movesets etc. I probably used Sheen when I did contests in older games, but had forgotten about it. Most others were fun when they were new but go completely unused in more recent plays of the games. Dream World would probably still be used if they didnt kill it, I remember using it a lot back during Gen 5s hayday. For a while some abilities were still locked behind it which sucked when it got shut down.
I need you to know that if I didn't know better based on context clues, I'd assume this whole video was bait. I actively used everything in this video except the videos (I don't like video editing), the LGPE feature (Didn't have the games), and the alola photo club (Got absorbed in Mantine surfing). Also pokestars studio is a lot of fun!!
I use marks primarily in breeding. I will give an example. In Emerald, I want to breed for a Modest synchronize Abra. Unfortunately, half of the time it has Inner Focus as its ability. After depositing hatched eggs, I would mark them with a different symbol based on what ability they had. This made sorting out the inner focus Abras much easier since I could multi-select without checking the ability every time. Another use is with eggs. Say I have a Slugma and 5 eggs in my party and the first one hatches and I get the exact pokemon I want. The rest of the eggs are leftovers. I would mark those eggs with a certain symbol when depositing them so I would know what Pokemon would hatch from it. I kept a list in my phone with that the different egg symbols meant. That way if I have a box full of 10 eggs of 4 different species, I can tell them apart.
I used the photo club a ton, it's fun to me tho the one in sv is better. As said before i messed around with the trend thing and it's even more hilarious when modded too. Imagine what could happen if u mod it with romhacking, and how stupid u can have NPCs with it lmao! I also used the mail as a kid quite a lot, giving it to my pokemon to "communicate" with my pokemon. I admittedly still think behind the pixels they are real, but that's probably up to imagination to some. As for markings i used them for pokemon i am attached to, like i used the heart one on my main pokemon Spark the Manectric. But beside these i actually never heard of Sheen? ._.?

Wait, thats actually a good one
marks were used in breeding, to know how many perfect IVs the mon has
@@Rennnix yup, i used that a lot back in my XY/ORAS competitive days
Ever since they added the two colours of marks, I've been using the red one to show 31iv and the blue for a 0iv.
I still use it in SV. it's much useful now because you can use different colours. So Red is high IVs, blue is low IV
One time I got a pokemon on the GTS in Black that had a mail that was like "Old man is my friend. I like burning grass with old man" and it gave me a good giggle. XD
Oh yeah, GTS must have had that extra charm with mail in the mix too - that actually sounds so fun :D
Iirc people also used memory girl as a way to tell whether a pokemon was hacked or not during gen 6
I really like the Alola Photo Club. Loved taking photo with my team members, it just makes the relationship with your Pokemon much more personal
@@TheMissileHappy i used to snap a pic with my team members whenever they'd evolved
Stuff like Pr videos suffered due to X and Y only having 1 year of being the newest game, compared to Oras having 2. I remember checking them out a lot when X and Y were still the newest game
Memories could be cool if they were tied to ribbons. Each one could have an assigned memory text that goes with the given title.
Yeah, that would make them much more special..
Omg wish that was real
dawg if a game has a photo function im all over it 😭
in sv i like getting pictures of wild shinies or just pokemon being cute in general heh
I loved all of these features 😭

We do not slander Pokestar Studios in this house.

4:12 OR you vould buy 1000 premier balls in the pokeball shop, one by one, and increase it to the max in like half an hour

Each symbol representing a specific thing/category is pretty clever actually, I might start doing that myself lol
Photo club was in Legends arceus and it was really fun there. Still niche
Ok, actually - PLA's is prob the one I have used the most lol
You can use marks to change the Pokémon nature if you use a Action Replay Code
I remember that, i did it with emulating before

I actually did use Support Play. Only to grind enough money at the league with Pay Day to buy that crown for my Eevee, but still.
Accidentally walking in on you naked… if it’s a gardevoir or lopunny it was probably not accidental according to the internet….

You could check Pokémon memories in Crystal Version.
The Battle Frontier was a useless feature I never bothered with.
