@@bigcraig1976 Thanks William. I hear what you are saying but I can only put in the title what is relevant to the video. I mean if i'm not working on a Rolex I cannot mention a Rolley in the title. The algorithm is not my friend for sure
Thanks for the video, well done as usual. It is amazing how much work and effort was put into the “home made” parts. Where does one get a new city bezel or the original city bezel repainted/anodized? Cheers Geoff
Thanks for watching 👍🏼 I have no idea where you could get one restored or repainted. I have had many new ones come in stock over the years but unfortunately none at the moment. I only have a spare used one right now.
@@HorologyBiology thanks for the quick response. Restored mine, all original fortunately and the crystal polished to original. I did have the internal 24 hour ring repainted to match the original. A lot of these suffer from UV light degradation and the 24 hour ring paint flakes. The re-dialed ring was an exact match using the original die and resulted in a perfect job. The only thing left, and it is very minor, is the bezel. Inner and outer cities are both legible with the inner being perfect. I did run a black sharpie marker around the outside edge of the city bezel to cover the aluminum laid bare by wear. Does make a difference. Cheers and thanks for the video. By the way, I agree with you fully, this was “repaired” to fool a buyer, and yet the seller obviously has some skills and could have done a better job. Probably a marriage of parts from a parts box. Also, the automatic module, was I correct that it only wound in one direction or was it there for decoration? Geoff
@@geoffquickfall The auto works on this watch (AR1146) is actually from the later AR160 family so is married (like you mentioned) with parts to build this watch. The later autoworks for the AR160 family would only charge in one direction where as the older AR1140 family were bidirectional. Enicar claimed the newer models were an upgrade and from a parts point of view definitely more robust. However I totally disagree with the claim of ‘better’ when you have basically removed 50% of the auto rotor wind option 🤣
This video is a clinic in soldiering on. Not feeling particularly well, technical issue with your streaming equipment, and the pain of seeing a watch you want to love cobbled together out of disparate parts and home engineered patches. This one will feel especially meaningful once you've restored ii to spec, however. Knowing the challenges you overcame to return this wounded warrior to service will be a point of pride and a well deserved one.
I have with me enicar ladies watch that my mom used to wear in her young ages But now its stuck now i askes many antiqe watch service techs but they all said it cant be repaired its winding wheel is damaged and no chance of getting a spare can u help me in this matter if i could repair and present it to my 80yr old mom it would be a great thing Plz give a solution Im from kottayam- kerala- india
This isn’t a cheap watch. Its also about the marriage of certain parts and of course the terrible condition. There are are Enicar watches out there that are worth much more than some Rolex watches for sure. Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Ya hey if they needed one and didn't have one they did what they had to do. As long as it worked when it was done. I guess that's what matters. Stay safe. Cheers.

Thanks for the video. Poor watch. You have some work ahead. Video looked good. Thanks Matt
Cheers Darryll, this one will be a challenge for sure 😩

Hi. Thanks for the video. I have also this type of watch. Problem with date dial, have blurry glass and outer bezel come off.
Sorry to hear that, sounds like it needs a serious overhaul. Thanks for watching
Great video, just found your channel, and I enjoyed your explanation and work.
Welcome aboard! Thanks for watching 👍
I only made it as far as 32.00 but oh man that is one sad weary looking movement. Sorry you had to go through that Matt 😞
Thanks Alan 💪

I'm no watch expert at all, but is this supposed to be kept in 1956 rolex submariner condition, as far as upkeep/repair?

Props for them making something but they could have also sourced the parts
The orange on that dial looks like it was printed on a four-color press.
Dial is original 100%. About the only thing original :(
I guess the old adage still applies; you get what you paid for it.
😞😞
@@HorologyBiology I was meaning the watch of course.
lolol I gathered
Remove the dirt then you'll have a hell of a lot of play in the barrel LOL
I think the dirt was holding this thing together 😳
