  • I didn't mention it in the video but they do have available drive over decks in 54 and 60 inches. The green decks are commercial and have been discontinued and you can only get the standard yellow deck.

    You can put a jumper wire between the 2 wires on the little yellow switch for the mow in reverse and it will stay on all the time.

      @@paulmosley6157 Ummm 🤔 here ---->>> th-cam.com/video/lLIpqk894Is/w-d-xo.html that will explain it.. Some Deere mowers have a little yellow button on the left side of the dash you can press and some like the X750 and X758 you pull up on the blade pto switch. Either one can be bypass so you don't have to press (or pull) the switch to mow in reverse.

    Nice video.
    Two things. If you reverse the raise lower connections on your hydraulic connections so that the bottom lever controls raise lower function, you will find that pushing the bottom lever full forward places the plow in “float” mode. The plow lowers and floats with the contour of the ground surface ( without downward hydraulic pressure). A nice feature.
    Second, i don’t modify the rpms on mine to reverse. Blades continue to rotate in reverse if you pull up (slightly) on the pto mechanism on the right OR press the yellow button on the left side of steering wheel. Not sure why Deere designed w both options but there are times when you use the left hand to push ( e.g. when the beer is in the right... jk).

    Nice tractor and thanks for the video. I thought you might mention the turning radius while mowing. It should turn very sharp unlike a compact utility tractor which has a much heavier front axle which is necessary to support the weight of a loader. Specified turn radius is about 2 feet compared to the JD 1025r which is more like 7 feet. Big difference there. The 1025r also has the ROPS that will annoy you continually if you are mowing around trees and other low hanging obstacles. For mowing, pretty hard to best what you have there.

    Very good review, thank you. I am looking at this model and the Kubota GR2120 - Kubota diesel, 4x4, 54" deck, Front mounted Snowblower, Glide Steer for sharper turning. I really like this Deere and I really like the Kubota Glide Steer system for steering. Right now it looks like whoever gets their model in stock first will be the winner - man is stuff hard to come by nowadays!

    In Mowing 90 acres over the years I’ve also found you can get about 1600 hours before overhaul on the gas models but 3500 hours on the Yanmar diesels. Fuel consumption is about 1/2 as much as the gas equivalents. Make sure to get the optional anti scalp roller.

    • @Rob_Cleans_Cars
      @Rob_Cleans_Cars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The gas is good and all but will drink fuel and that’s the main reason I didn’t want it. The diesel is pretty efficient and the it doesn’t bog down and it’s very torquey. It’s great for plowing my driveway and mowing 2-3 hours if I need it too

    • @rcclassiccrawlers4368

      Also diesels typically hit their peak torque at lower rpms which will make them last a lot longer. Whereas the typical gasoline engine needs to be run at full throttle in order to hit their peak torque which will tend to make them use more fuel especially under a load. In my opinion.

  • @michaelfinney2160
    @michaelfinney2160 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Engage pto implements like the mower at a lower throttle rpm then move up to whatever manual says do and to disengage an implement slow the rpm a bit. If you engage at full throttle it puts to much stress way too fast on everything and will wear or break it all faster. My Kubota BX recommends 3200 rpm for maximum blade tip speed on a 54 inch deck. Just read the manual or ask your dealer if you can’t find it in the manual. Have fun !

    • @Rob_Cleans_Cars
      @Rob_Cleans_Cars  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Good question. I paid approximately 10k for the X758. The 1025r base price is about 15k, and the real added cost is a backhoe and bucket if you so chose and with a mower you’ll be almost 25k. I don’t see 25k in utility in that for myself as I mow a lot and I don’t want to rutt and chew my lawn with aggressive tires/heavier machine.

    • @quantumphaser
      @quantumphaser 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tylernicholson5319 If a beautiful cut is what you are after, nothing beats the X7s, they have a better, lighter footprint. The 1025R is better suited for everything but mowing, mainly the reason you hardly ever see one with a deck, usually taken off for ground clearance.
      You still get full hydraulics on the X7 and Little Buck Loader makes a beautiful bucket for this one specifically, The Little Bull. About$3800.
      And the loader is usually the big want on the 1025R, no-one ever buys one without the loader.

(but they have a plow blade that swaps in of you want, too) Very few ppl need to "load" anything with a loader, and this keeps your cg low and safe (for mom or kids too) and the frame isn't up over the wheels so you can ram right into stuff if you want to.... you'll Never have that fun with a loader. Currently i'm using a very small JD riding mower and it takes me 4 hours to mow. I was looking today at an X390 that's an option which is more reasonable at 5500 dollars

    This is a very sturdy and well built mower. I thought I wouldn't like the foot operated speed control but after one use th-cam.com/users/postUgkxTZSPVwJFBv2hORqhQamtxi-tAe5K2EtC , I can't believe I ever had one without it. It drives like a car with an automatic transmission. Easy to adjust mowing speed according to grass depth/thickness. I have yet to get used to the long throw of the blade engagement lever but kind of get why it is that way. It allows you to hold mowing for short moments if you need. The engine seems very substantial and the frame has very little flex, both adding up to an impressive package. All my previous tractors were 18 to21 hp with 42in decks. This one is 23/46. I mow about 1.5 acres about every 5 days here in Alaska and that mowing time has been reduced by about 20%, partly due to the very tight turning radius. No loop arounds lol. Hour meter, cruise control, reverse mowing capability,deck cleanout and easy assembly all add up to a very well thought out tractor.

      But it’s not just a lawn mower, although it does mow excessively well. There is a bucket list of attachments you can get for it that aren’t lawn related. Some people will have an ATV for plowing and a mower for mowing. Rather then having 2 subpar machines to maintain, you can have one excellent one that would do better at all the jobs.

      @@Tchristman100 The X700 isn't a lawn mower, its a tractor. This machine weighs 1200 lbs with a rider and can use ground contact implements like a plow or tiller. I believe they are very competitively priced for the power, capabilities and features they offer as the next step is a subcompact that is going to start at several thousand more and may be to big for many jobs. I have two acres and a 1025R size is not suitable for my property but the capabilities are still necessary for a number of tasks which this tractor fills perfectly. I'm hoping to get one someday soon and because I agree with Rob, this is a do it all type machine, instead of spending the money on 3 machines with three maintenance bills, tires etc you can have one good tractor that does it all and will last forever if well maintained.

    Those machines are way overpriced! Your paying for union wages and benifits. They are a better product than the box store crap as long as your up above the 300 series. And don't be fooled by the low end stuff at the dealer. It's the exact same crap as the box stores and even built in the same plant. Ever notice the brilliant engineering with the way the fuel tank sits in the tractor? No hold- down of any kind . Just floats in a confined space. You think spilling your beer is a problem? Just wait until a hole is worn through the fuel tank from bouncing around with every little bump or rut you drive over! A cars battery and even that tractor battery is secure for that very reason. What the hell was John Deere thinking ? ... or maybe not!
