pico should make the new conect version fully compatible with openxr and not depend on steamvr. The ideal would be to be able to choose in the pico conect software which runtime you want to launch a game with, as VD does with VDXR, which is optimal for running games with the new UEVR. It's something the Pico developers should keep in mind now that they're working on the new software.
This video convinced me to try pico connect instead of virtual desktop and im hooked. It just works and looks better can't really describe it. Great video by the way!
My PICO 4 headset prompted me to do an update, and the Streaming assistant was then updated to Pico Connect. On the PC I had to download the Pico Connect installer from the official website, and this installer automatically uninstalled the Streaming Assistant. Look into your apps folder to see if you have pending updates (your headset needs to be connected to the internet, of course)
if pico connect had better desktop controls like vd such as virtual keyboard, more screen placement, size and shape options, passtrough mode, gamepad compatibility and better compatibility with openxr for non steamvr games i would use it exclusively but sadly it just does the bare minimum in those aspects
It's a big improvement over the old streamer but still unde VD quality wise. First of all the resolution goes "only" to 2560x2560 (ultra) as opposed with VD that can go to 3120x3120 (godlike) and depending on game you can see. In flight sims where you have instruments all over the place with text and lots of details you can see it immediately. The colors are debatable as they depend on how much you put the brightness slider up (lower is better) and also on the codec used and bitrate. Basically there are too many variables (different eyes included) to really decide on colors. But it's a big big step forward from Pico!! Nice new environment also with that closed beta.
@@MrTechcat Yeah... it shows. Is very good but when compared with VDVDXR on Godlike in specific scenarios is just a little under so I wouldn't use it over VD
@@MrTechcat Hello again, How exactly can we do that edit? I found the folder in AppData but all I found is setting different bitrate and the resolution is defines as ULTRA. Not an actual number based formula. What is 3K named? Godlike? Or 3K? Thanks!

Pico Connect is a fantastic piece of software, 100x performance improvement over VD for me, especially when you use the script to bump the bitrate to 250
I have the problem in pico connect where the most distant parts of the game are seen in low resolution or low bitrates, is the same thing happening to you?
maybe not the resolution but your game simply does not have AA enabled so far objects have more jagged edges on small details. Because else it would be hard to explain. As Pico Connect has little to do with the game rendering. It's the game/it's settings that is rendering close and far objects different.
I'm thinking the same. Just look at it at 01:22 and see the difference. The Pico connect screen looks horribly washed out. It makes it look much worse. I really don't get him viewing that scene and saying the VD has a big problem here, when the Connect screen looks so bad I wouldn't play it like that.
I just installed connect to replace Assistant and steamvr loads at about 10fps then kicks me out... Now I can't install Assistant again and my gaming experience is fuct...
its true, virtual desktop is too dark on pico. But the problem I have with Pico Conect is the controllers, the traking is springy, like if you thow a grenade, you virtual hands go much farder than the real ones when they stop. And it kill me with aiming in gun games, makes the gun wobbly and aiming imposible or makes parkour unstable in games like gorilla tag. Is there a way to fix this?
Though I did throw many rocks in the Vampire Justice game and I did like how well it did work but might have been just the game mechanics. As throwing did work the same Pico Connect or VD.
@@MrTechcat the springy controllers are exclusively on Pico Conect, if it was not for that, and the audio problems (cant hear anything when conect to PC sometines) I already was using PC instead of VA.
@@davidvr4227 I have not encountered that issue yet. I had an issue with controller grip being wrong but they have patched that already and patched many issues in the latest 10.18 Beta version I have been using in this video.

You can set 3K by editing the settings file.. but there is not much benefit as Pico uses upscaling already at ultra.
