@@christians.8739 and they would not take them. because most of them are GMO...that is not against this or any farmer in particular. and one other thing, it for sure does not pay to bring potatoes from the USA to the EU. not even fries for McD or KFC. Most of them come from Poland...
THAT'S A crazy amount of potatoes I'm a corn & bean farmer so I can appreciate the hard work and long hours I really enjoyed watching the video I know some where in there was my taters for potato soup and fried taters thanks guys I can really appreciate the family thing son following in dad's footsteps
I grew upon Shelley Idaho not to far away from here. This area of the world grows the best tasting spuds. I love the smell of potato harvest in the fall, my most favorite time.
Usually, the pipes are taped together with the vent holes facing the ground. They make a specialized piece of equipment called a hog that scoops the potatoes off the ground. When a pipe is uncovered, they pull it out of line with the hog and continue loading potatoes.
It seem like alot of Americana manufacturing companies are some how bought up or liquidated by foreign, international companies, take a look at Chrysler/Dodge, American truck manufacturers Freightliner, Mack, Western Star, heavy equipment manufacturers like Case, Terex, Bobcat, Autocar just to name a few, I hope this trend does not continue, you seldom see this in countries such as Germany or Japan.
In our dreaded CA, we put perforated tubes on the ground, pile the corn/wheat, oats, etc. on top. Cover with huge tarps, then connect the blowers to the tubes under grains. Fire up blowers and boom; drawing air to rid moisture. They've got tubes at 4:50 that look similar
Farmer: plants, grows, harvests and receives a fraction of market price. Same product (taters, fruits, veggies, whatever) hits the counter at the store and all the sudden you add a couple dollars to the pennies the farmer earned. I'd LOVE to see farmers go back to the Co-Ops where their products are sold for TRUE fair market value, and the FARMER gets the profits. I know it's not as simple as my crayola crayon description above, but it sure would be nice.
It is. Down right criminal actually. People going hungry in the USA. Healthcare is a disaster. Homelessness a crisis...yet a people that wants for nothing at the same time. Tired of the War too...and those who "war monger." This will probably make me sound like a bad person but I am a fan of the "Trump idea" where I think he really does want to pull back from the madness...but the madness rolls on anyway.
Good video, the problem I have with it is the same problem I have with 99% of agricultural videos.. I see Mexicans working there and no White people .. This is where our system is broken.. Farmers make a lot of money with all the government subsidized programs and on and on ... But they will not pay a fair wage to there employees so that a common white family can survive on what they want to pay because it’s all about them and there addiction of living large .. This behavior fuels the fight we have with our borders and keeping America safe and profitable...
More managers and less workers, just like every other business these days....... Thanks for putting us out of work, can't even afford to eat your "spuds".
Your videos always introduce me to new and exciting fruits! 🌟
We just went 216 Rose this year and a brand-new dirty Eliminator and it's been the best purchase that our farm has ever done
An absolutely breathtaking scale of operation, especially from a rather limited Nth Co. Antrim perspective, congratulations.
Thank you for keeping us fed.
I just happened to come across this video, all I can say is wow. This made my day thanks, from Canada.
Thanks for feeding a hungry America, and the world!
Joe Savage And the world? I don’t see many USA grown potatoes in the European supermarkets.

Fabulous system, think back 20 years. Progress 👍
there are still quite a few potatoes with all that dirt and vines. what are you doing with them? dump them back onto the field as fertilizer?
Isn't spudnik a part of grimme? It look so similar
I believe so
What's is grimme
Very organized 👍 thanks for planting for us
How do you get them out of the storage facility without damaging those pipes you put on the bottom?

We use the scooper...

Mas se apodrece batatas no meio do silo, não vai apodrecer todo o resto? Muito arriscado estocar assim.

For those wondering, yes, Spudnik is owned by Grimme. Spudnik was bought out in 2003 and work as the North American branch.

Can’t a gain how clean the crop is going into the storage truck !
Wouldn‘t it be much easier when the air cooling system in your storage where integrated in the floor?

I believe it would be EXTREMELY difficult to clean, not to mention a huge increase in cost of a solid surface floor vs a dirt floor.
Is still lots of dirt and sand and they can plug the holes....
It is a newer concept that I have been seeing more and more in cellars.
How do you get those potatoes out of that flat storage
Kent, search " hogging potatoes" . Thats a cool process also.
Why do Grimme Machines have a different Name in US?

More production less people employed don't seem right to me but that's my 2 cents on this situation
people fuck up, machines don't.
It's called free market buddy. Savings. Hell Gm just layed off 17,000 people
I'm here to tell you, that machines definitely DO fuck up... your comment indicates that you don't ever use any machine of any kind.
It keeps the cost of your taters down.
