As a Yank I have to say that I feel like I missed out on all the good times in London. But I did catch them twice in Manhattan. I really love this band
a truly, truly ground breaking pop group. It smashed the music scene and genuinely created it's own unique sound. Madness are a truly British band and stand alone as peerless artists. Paully xxx
I don't wish to bore... but I shall say this... Suggs was always 'in character' meant every word he sung and come up with dance moves and body movements no one had ever seen at the time. I'll shut up now lol xxx
Paul , I know exactly what you mean. I'll always love Suggs (and the rest of Madness ofcourse) but I also love the 'old' Suggs best with that signature dance or body movements he had back in the early days. I understand it ofcourse we all get older and so does the band. Carl also couldn't stay 'Nutty Chas' forever.
He wrote the lyrics and he said “if I could turn back time I would rewrite the lyrics to not be as harsh towards my family but really I have no regrets”
paul jardine ---- well said totally agree, was at a wedding last week and dj put this on,couldnt help myself 53yo acting like 13/14 again .and my m8s aswell,LOVE IT ;)
my uncle was a mod and leader of mods with about 1000 mirrors 0n the lamdrta legend my uncle this song its like wine the older winé gets the better it is
Madness are the best most melodic band I've ever heard and they had such as nutty joyous presence.. They had 17 top 10's as they constantly and continually put out hit after hit after hit. They started to listen to the stupid critics near the end and started to get to serious which saw them fall down the charts but they had a great run and are still around today making decent music.
If anybody had said I would still be going to see them live 41 years on, I would have told them to get a grip .......... House of common, roundhouse and now the tour with squeeze!!
@@kultshore7558 Agreed, I don't get Elvis at all. He just mimicked black artists of the time singing songs others had written for him. And after the 50s he was little more than a cabaret artist.
Is this the TOTP episode where Michael Hurl (TOTP executive producer) said to the group that they were an embarrassment to themselves and to the BBC as they were mucking around lol?
Madness best song for me bar far bought the cassette in 1980 ..

Always wondered how lee thompson felt playing the sax on this song knowing it was about his sister. Very emotional i bet.

A great great English band

The way they kept churning out the hits was positively Beatlesque.
