Thank you for posting... My daughter (your wonderful granddaughter) will be loving this bed! You’re the best Pappy a little 5 year old could ever have, and super talented!
My dad and I built two of your Queens 9 years ago. One was for me, one for their guest bedroom. Now one is my sister's and one is my grandma's. They are still tanks. I'm looking to build one for my daughter now, this'll be it. Really appreciate you sharing this design. These beds have kind of become a fixture in my family.
Very cool design. Actually from dozens Ive seen from 'big' channels this is the easiest/smartest set up Ive found to use a lot of long beams that Ive gotten for free from a construction yard. Time to make a bed! Thank you. God bless.
This is a very nice build. To make moving easier, though, I would suggest that instead of using screws to put sides on, you could drill holes and bolt it on. The bolt heads should be more esthetic as well as a bonus.

Thank you so much for showing us your process. I currently have an antique bed that I love, but the side rails have fallen off and I worried that I wasn't going to be able to do anything about it. But after watching your video, I am thinking that it should not be too difficult to make new side boards to fit the current headboard and footboard onto. I am going to thoroughly check out the wood stock that makes up the current sideboards to see if they can be retooled and still be usable as they are really thick and beautiful. Blessings to you always.
Aren't you an inch short in length? 81 inch side board minus the 2x4 width (3 1/2 in.) times 2 would make only 74 inches for the mattress. Full size mattress is 75 inches. What am I missing?
Thanks for the video, I was able to make it, but jeesh with lumber being so pricey it cost me 200$, I added a center support and put a 1x6 across headboard and now we have a place to put the TV remote and other little things.
All the lumber at Lowes at today's price cost me a total of less than $60. My daughter gave me the screws (with a T25 head) which did save me a little money).
@@1964cht now on your cultist and in the beginning of the video is says you only used 2 2x4 but when I added everything up I have to use 3. How did you only use 2? I’m just trying to save money.
Today I finished making this full-sized bedframe. Solid and sturdy as a rock. Followed all board sizes to perfection according to the instructions on this video. Exactly. The only problem is the bedframe is too small and too tight for my new Sealy in a box full sized memory foam mattress. I had to squeeze it into the frame. Won't work for us. A waste of money and much time. What a shame because I really liked this bedframe.
I'm sorry it didn't work out for you. I went by measurements online of a full mattress. 54" x 74". my granddaughter's mattress fits perfectly. would love to know the measurement of your mattress.
On the Wayfair website, it states that the dimensions of the full sized mattress is 54" wide by 75" long. Even that is too tight into the bedframe. After the bed in a box "puffed out" to it's full size, it is actually 54 1/2" x 77". So to be able to use your bedframe at all with this mattress, I had to raise the 2x2's up to where the 1x6 slats were flush with the top of the side rails which makes the bed very high. (mattress is 12"). If it ends up being too high, I will simply cut the bottom of the legs until the height is OK.@@1964cht
Final adjustment: took off the 2x2's and lowered them to 2 1/2" down the siderail so the mattress could be about an inch into the frame. This way the slats no longer showed back when the mattress was flush with the top. So, it turned out OK. Thanks for responding! @@1964cht
I've used thick coats of indoor trim paint. Because the wood I use is far from top quality, the extra thick coats of paint hide a bunch of the imperfections.
Just got on my materials cut and ready to assemble now only thing is that I think you missed one two by four that you need extra for the second half of the cuts
Did you end up using 4 - 2x4s? Looking at the layout I'm not sure how 2 of them would leave you enough for the headboard and footboard. Or maybe I'm really bad at math haha.

Everybody is an expert.... nice frame.
Good Job, I would do some like mods to your design, by adding a 1x4 and 1x6 on the top of the footboard and headboard😁
This is an amazing and easy design, at least when you compare it to other tutorials on youtube. Great job!!! ❤❤❤👍
Thank you Guiliana, nice to hear.
Inspiring cant wait to make one of my own. Thank you for the video!

I was curious about the same
It should fit in snug so there is no movement of the mattress.
Great job!!
ขอบคุณมากครับ…ผมจะทำตามที่คุณบอก ลูกสาวผมคงชอบมาก เพราะผมจะทำให้สุดฝีมือเลย
I just finished building the bed frame. I’m please, my teacher is too. Although it’s very important the rail boards are straight

I’m a freshman in high school and I’m building this exact setup. Any tips ?
sometimes, it helps to pre drill the holes before sinking the screws. It just makes it easier in the long run. Good luck!

I love this
There are 2 different sized screws being used. Which ones go where?
The shorter screws were used on the horizontal slats that the mattress sits on. I used the longer screws everywhere else.
hello, what would be the measurements of the headboard if i didn’t want the top line?
I don’t want the board just the main frame what would i cha he i. the wood measurements
what would you recommend using for paint?
I've used thick coats of indoor trim paint. Because the wood I use is far from top quality, the extra thick coats of paint hide a bunch of the imperfections.
Do you know the exact measurements of the mattress you used for the frame?
We just used a standard full size mattress. 75" x 53"
Sounds good thank you.
I will put another 2x2 at the middle
You could placed a board in the middle underneath the slats
Just got on my materials cut and ready to assemble now only thing is that I think you missed one two by four that you need extra for the second half of the cuts
Yes. It takes 3 8-foot 2x4's.. Not 2.
How sturdy is this I want to build one for my son
Very sturdy. I've built a couple queen size beds using the exact same design and they are still being used over 10 years later.

I think you're correct.. I'm coming up short on some 2x4s. I think 3 would do it
No. 2x4 were only for legs. Headboard are 2x6
It does take 3 2x4's, not 2. I have made this bed, and it took 3 2x4's when you follow the instructions exactly.

I need the measurements for the queen size please.
those are in this video th-cam.com/video/dqlyEmJNDuI/w-d-xo.html
How much did it cost to make
when I built this one, the lumber was at an all time high due to COVID. depending on your area, should be around $100, maybe more?
Can you post the cut dimensions in your description please!
Done

This was around $150, but that's before the price of lumber went crazy

heavy enough to stay in place, but even the queen size one I made can be moved by one person
