I am a huge fan of Maya and I absolutely loved the movie. Her portrayal of dawn is magical and they couldn’t have chosen a better character to play her father. Rob Wells blew me away to see him in this was amazing for me. I too grew up in a small town in the 70s and 80s it was a different time then as it is now and I too had a bully to deal with so I never got to be my truth until now. I have just started my transition at 55 and loving every moment. To all trans people in the world “ there’s room for everyone around the campfire with a different view in every spot” don’t let the bastards get you down😘😘🥰🥰❤️❤️
Maya deserves to be heard and share her story. Online comments have just as much of an impact on a person as if you were saying it to their face. Your comment is rude and hurtful and you don't know how it might be taken - someone might see it as a last straw before they do something drastic. Have a care for others, my goodness.

Maya is quite remarkable, I've followed her main TH-cam channel for quite a while. Did you find, in your background research for this, that she also has a second channel for vegan cooking? That's fun too.

I just hope Maya does not limit herself to playing trans character roles. She would be totally convincing playing a cis-woman in a movie or tv show. If Jared Leto can win a BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR OSCAR by playing a transwoman, then Maya should be able to win a BEST ACTRESS OSCAR playing a cis-woman.
Wow I can’t believe the interviewer just did that to Maya at the end. Maya is NOT a makeup girlie. Just because she posted 4 pic of her in makeup doesn’t mean she is a Nikkitutorials or a Jeffery Star. Make up is not part of her brand. It’s giving cis women jealously over trans women. It giving cis women passive aggressive compliments and harassment towards trans girl
I wonder what Maya's view is of the wave of de-transitions that is happening. There must be a large amount of apprehension about possibly contributing to the current environment of social contagion and rapid onset gender dysphoria. Would she support a movement towards better psychological evaluation of potential trans people instead of affirmation without contemplation.
@Kristy Anne I haven’t seen a study that supports your statement. I have seen quite a bit of evidence that trans affirmation has become the norm without true evaluation to see if that is the true issue or if it could be depression, anxiety, social awkwardness, body dysphoria, etc. It seems the medical & psychological community is engaged in mass malpractice. I suspect when the pendulum swings back we will see a large number of malpractice lawsuits and legit trans people will be worse off.
@@JeremyLeeIsARapist2002 I think all sex crimes are bad. As to the other question, I don't think trans people need to answer problems for others. I think the medical and psychological professionals should do that through proper diagnosis and treatment. At the same time, if someone has a TH-cam channel putting themselves out there as a thought leader and example for other people they should present a balanced viewpoint about the topic they are attracting followers to watch.
@@CoiledDracca there are thousands of detransitioners now, many of which were misled into believing they were trans when they were simply gay or lesbian.
I watched this film with my dad 3 months before coming out to him and I really feel like it's the reason he is so accepting of who I am now.

That's part of being a transgender. Visit her channel and you will see her point of view. Just keep an open mind.
