Season 1 had a special charm that no other anime has. I found it incredibly funny how they take the time to design and create a back story for the characters just for Saitama to one punch them.
But with saitama, that’s the beauty of it. They have a backstory, they all do. In you typical show most of these threats would take up an episode or two. But facing saitama, it’s just reinforces how meaningless it all is. Peak absurdity.
opm is a perfect example of how to properly write an overpowered character. instead of an egotistical, braggadocios, smug faced, and a bully character. the overpowered-ness was given to a bald, humble, goofy-dressed, emotionless character. longing for a real challenging fights while at the same time encourages everyone around him to grow stronger. for example, him saving glasses inspire glasses to train and be stronger. the author is a genius.
Or, you could go the route of Misfit of Demon King Academy. Which has what you described, but from a lore standpoint, everything he says and does makes absolute sense. Considering that the character actually helped to create the magic system technically.
I used to feel the same way about season 2 not having that bad of animation. But then I read the manga. Almost every panel of every fight is absolutely beautiful. So it’s not that season 2 was badly animated, it’s just that it doesn’t due the manga justice

1-84 has been animated for a total of 171 chapters (171 came out today) the artwork and passion of Yusuke Murata is literally unrivaled in the manga industry. Every literal detail is high quality, he pulls all the stops and even has ANIMATED and DRAWN pictures chapter 160+. We do not know when s3 comes out nor which studio, but we DO KNOW that it will not be JC staff again. The story does get deep and is a lot of fun in the manga, I am confident season 3 will not disappoint. Fun fact! Season 2 took only 3 months to make! The producers were a piece of shit who rushed it when they were supposed to have 6 months to work with normally like most of any other anime. JC staff did pretty well with the time provided, it may not have worked out in their favor as they would have liked, but not bad all the same. The manga just like the anime is one of the best and most refreshing reads like honestly. You pick your sauce man, magnificent manga? Or anime only? Both are great choices!

I'm not a hater, still enjoyed it but I think objectively you can take many clips from both and compare them, and S1 will stand up much better overall. I do agree that the hate for it is annoying.

Garo is a beast because not only was he trained under Silver Fang, he has the ability to adapt and learn things quickly. So any time he sees someone do a martial art [as long as it's not a born skill like telekenisis or magic] he can just copy them. Mans out here farming OP abilities from heroes as he fights them.
The Manga and the webcomic are really good and these two seasons ( idk how) are basically like introductions to the characters so you’ll start seeing more of a story when season 3 and hopefully season 4 come out

Honestly, one of OPM's best qualities is its characters. They're all just so damn good. Saitama, Garou, Metal Bat, King, Fubuki, Genos, Silver fang, and the list goes on... I love how the author makes every character lovable in their own way.

The story is a lot more complex than it first seems. A lot of stuff has been hinted at or is building in season 1 and 2. The next couple of seasons are going to expand on everything that's been set up tremendously.

I remember the first time I watched it, and have seen it at least probably two more times. The theme song makes me get goosebumps every time even when you know what’s gonna happen I can’t help but feel like a kid when the fights happen. Then there’s lots deep philosophical stuff during the rest. Don’t think there will be anything quite like the first season for a while
I'd love to hear your thoughts after reading "The Other World Doesn't Stand a Chance Against the Power of Instant Death". It sadly only has 38-ish chapters right now, but those chapters are amazing. Despite having a similar "running gag of an MC" as in one punch man, this manga has less gags and more plot and world-building.
The manga is way worse than the ln, it massively condenses it and removes some of the fun dialogue and sid stuff. The fun part is how pretty much all the isekaied characters have a protagonist style power, with a whole 4 of them having powers separate to the magic system entirely.
ONE is an unbelievably genius artist. It's a funny thing to say because you try to compare his art to giants like JoJo or Bleach, and sure, his drawings aren't the kind that you just sit and stare at for hours. He does occasionally put out panels like that, but not on the regularity you see in other talented artists. But his paneling, his story telling, his character design & writing and interactions are absolute top tier. In a way, Murata fills in ONE's one weakness. This one might be a hot take in a lot of peoples eyes but in my eyes ONE is the Anti-Kubo. Tite Kubo is incredible at drawing cool shit, but his story writing, his paneling (especially near the end of Bleach with blank backgrounds) and his pacing need a lot of work. ONE does everything Tite Kubo seems to struggle with well, but struggles with the one thing Tite Kubo excels at. I would say that the combination of ONE and Murata actually rivals the art of Araki. For your preferring OPM over Mob, I would rate the ending of Mob a 10/10. It didn't overstay its welcome, it told the story it wanted to tell in an interesting way and ended. I'm very curious to see how OPM will end and my expectations are REALLY high after Mob.
I love the Anime, Manga & Web Comic. What made the Anime even better was that my 70 year old Dad actually enjoyed it and watched most of season 2 by himself. He never watches Anime unless I kind of make him. So I can't wait until we get to watch season 3 together.

To a certain point, One punch is one of the best comic/anime. ONE doen't really know how to draw(compared with any mangaka), but all his characters(and humor, message, etc.) are solid and that's why his 2 webcomics got an anime (Mob&OPM) And on top of that, MURATA was a fan of the webcomic and asked permission for a redraw.
Honestly one of the moments from the Monster Association Arc would have to be Garou vs Sage Centipede. If that gets some quality animation the only thing better would be Cosmic Garou vs Saitama, and even then I could see it being a lot of people's favorite moment when he finally says "This was a blessing".

I always hate keep saying that saitama was never at his full strength but he is, he held back extremely and did amazing feats( may not be as great as feats goku did but still) with a single arm and his growth was exponential. he does beat Gt but he will lose to dbs goku. but we cant ignore the fact that since his growth was exponential that a single good hit from Goku to saitama will start his power growth instantly. Goku managed to master ultra instinct in im guessing 20 minutes or whichever time i did not count but somewhere around that time while Saitama grew in mere seconds. If saitama got atleast half of how much goku developed he would be as strong if not stronger.

Saitama isn't stronger but he can't take damage and when he fights he gets stronger than his oppent by like 15x and is way quicker than Goku so yea saitama dose win
The reason Garo, and Saitama, were able to just start pulling up on people is cause: In OPM's world, as long as you train somewhat towards what you want to become. You become it. Saitama wanted to become an unbeatable hero. Garo wanted to become an unbeatable monster. And since I haven't read the manga, I'm SO ready for the anime to get to their fight.
in 10:15 did you guys noticed saitama was faster than his punch? he just didn't punch him. he also came to block his on attack. you can see saitama did punch him from far. then next moment we saw him infront of genos. i think on one did notic this.
the point of Garou is that his background reason for doing what he does is so dumb that it makes it funny. That's one of the main ways the show parodies the shonen genre.

I'll recommend D.Gray-man, as something that good, that laid the way for most modern gothic shonen, absolutely cannot be forgotten, but I'm not necessarily expecting you to watch the 100 epiosdes of season 1, then S2's 13. All I'll say is, Orihime Inoue, Miranda Lotto. One is not a better character, but the latter's powers are perfectly, tragically, balanced. Seriously, someone needs to do a video essay comparing Rejection and Revo-Dial: Because one is a transcendently OP skill, balanced by the mechanics of the power system and the user's personal strength. The other is similarly completely over powered, but is balanced to the point that there is never a situation where it couldn't be used and it's introduction spells out that the cost of using it, is its results, in the most dramatic and tragic way. Too many cursed abilities are cursed only in name, or by a character expositing that they're painful, but D.Gray-man really sold the inherent tragedy of Alan's eye and Miranda's ability, with both becoming a massive motivation for the characters. Revo-dial is arguably the greatest protective ability in fiction, precisely because it cannot save those it protects. At best, only letting them save others.
Season 1 was a masterpiece that we will never seen repeating again on a anime show for a very long time, merely because all the best anime guys were working together on that project. The odds of them re-teaming up again to do another One Punch Man season is sadly, very unlikely to happen, because they are now ALL busy in their own separate project for years to come. So you can literary said that season 1 of OPM is a welcome anomaly and season 2 of OPM is pretty much the usual kind of animation we likely to see for the all the other seasons to come.
Garou was just not letting anyone survive. Imagine you show up to train and this is your sparring partner. Bang probably watching these beatdowns in training thinking to himself “these fucking kids.”

I remember watching Saitama and Boros fight on our school's library back during HS days and god damn, that library was not quiet at all.
saitama's ability is to become more powerful than anyone who fights him in between there fight, so unless goku cannot beat him in his first attack, then there is no chance
The best part of OPM, is that it aired during the beginning of DBS, so we had something cool to watch during those dark times.
Blast doesn’t show up because he’s got his hands full with a threat that makes everything you’ve seen in the anime so far look like a kindergarten fight.
To a certain point, One punch is one of the best comic/anime.
ONE doen't really know how to draw(compared with any mangaka), but all his characters(and humor, message, etc.) are solid and that's why his 2 webcomics got an anime (Mob&OPM)
And on top of that, MURATA was a fan of the webcomic and asked permission for a redraw.
Honestly one of the moments from the Monster Association Arc would have to be Garou vs Sage Centipede. If that gets some quality animation the only thing better would be Cosmic Garou vs Saitama, and even then I could see it being a lot of people's favorite moment when he finally says "This was a blessing".

@@Iron_potato40k kinda fax but for saitama's power scaling, reverse causality already makes him universal threat. I always hate keep saying that saitama was never at his full strength but he is, he held back extremely and did amazing feats( may not be as great as feats goku did but still) with a single arm and his growth was exponential. he does beat Gt but he will lose to dbs goku. but we cant ignore the fact that since his growth was exponential that a single good hit from Goku to saitama will start his power growth instantly. Goku managed to master ultra instinct in im guessing 20 minutes or whichever time i did not count but somewhere around that time while Saitama grew in mere seconds. If saitama got atleast half of how much goku developed he would be as strong if not stronger.

Saitama isn't stronger but he can't take damage and when he fights he gets stronger than his oppent by like 15x and is way quicker than Goku so yea saitama dose win

The pacing of season 1 was amazing. Fights are straight to the point and a lot happens in one season. I have been reluctant to watch season 2 though.

The reason Garo, and Saitama, were able to just start pulling up on people is cause: In OPM's world, as long as you train somewhat towards what you want to become. You become it.
Saitama wanted to become an unbeatable hero.
Garo wanted to become an unbeatable monster.

@11:03 it doesn't really need it. I think that's the gag or the appeal of it. A.lot others may have a hard time with not having a deep deep plot etc. This is exterior level and that works. Sometimes less is more. (For me lol)

I'll recommend D.Gray-man, as something that good, that laid the way for most modern gothic shonen, absolutely cannot be forgotten, but I'm not necessarily expecting you to watch the 100 epiosdes of season 1, then S2's 13.
All I'll say is, Orihime Inoue, Miranda Lotto. One is not a better character, but the latter's powers are perfectly, tragically, balanced.
Seriously, someone needs to do a video essay comparing Rejection and Revo-Dial:
Because one is a transcendently OP skill, balanced by the mechanics of the power system and the user's personal strength.
The other is similarly completely over powered, but is balanced to the point that there is never a situation where it couldn't be used and it's introduction spells out that the cost of using it, is its results, in the most dramatic and tragic way.
Too many cursed abilities are cursed only in name, or by a character expositing that they're painful, but D.Gray-man really sold the inherent tragedy of Alan's eye and Miranda's ability, with both becoming a massive motivation for the characters.
Revo-dial is arguably the greatest protective ability in fiction, precisely because it cannot save those it protects.
At best, only letting them save others.
Season 1 was a masterpiece that we will never seen repeating again on a anime show for a very long time, merely because all the best anime guys were working together on that project. The odds of them re-teaming up again to do another One Punch Man season is sadly, very unlikely to happen, because they are now ALL busy in their own separate project for years to come.
So you can literary said that season 1 of OPM is a welcome anomaly and season 2 of OPM is pretty much the usual kind of animation we likely to see for the all the other seasons to come.
