  • @Zee_1003
    @Zee_1003 ปีที่แล้ว +30

    thank you for eating halo-halo the right way because it's annoying how some foreigners would try halo-halo and hate it for not eating it the right way. the only way you van justify if you love or hate it is if you eat it how it should be eaten. some ppl will just eat the toppings or eat thr components one by one, even the ice, which is funny because thise ingredients were put together for a reason.
    thanks for appreciating the other dishes that you've tried, too. I'm glad you liked it

      Skip the Lumpia and the Pancit, that is just Chinese spring roll and Chinese stir fry egg noodle. Unless the pancit comes from a very old Chinese restaurant in Philippines. Because some Canton in Philippines is better than those in China. Still, Philippines is not the best country for fried noodles. Thailand's padthai is more iconic.

    Wow that place is amazing. It is just a small food truck but a lot of food options, and those options are not even like the basic Filipino dishes, like the Ukoy, buchi, and Pineapple Chicken with coconut, I don't expect to find those easily in other Filipino restaurants here in the US, so those are a tad advance dishes tbh, lol. Like the ukoy, I have a feeling you will not like it at first, it is quite an acquired taste. In the halo-halo, you had something that taste like pineapple or peach, that is actually the ripe jackfruit, which you also mentioned(looking for) during the turon tasting lol. Thank you for featuring our dishes, I'm Filipino btw, living in Boston now.

    Glad you enjoy Filipino food! And what a great review. Not just entertaining, but also informative! Some of my favorite Filipino dishes that you haven't tried are Sisig (pan-fried pork head with liver with onions, hit with citus and spice), Pancit Palabok (a thicker rice noodle with shrimp sauce, shrimp, and chicharron), Embutido (steamed meatloaf) and Empanada (a better take on the Spanish pastry).

    Thank you for appreciating our food! You also explained each food so accurately. It is great to watch you eat and explain your reaction to the dishes. My only advice for people who are new to filipino food is to eat the rice dishes with spoon and fork OR by hand. enjoy!

    Great job on the video. You looked like you truly enjoyed that. Thank you for featuring Filipino food. It is so underrated. FYI the yellow thing in the halo halo is jackfruit, like in the turon. Yes we eat rice with pretty much with every meal. Rice being bland goes well with the rich dishes we pair it with .

    that turon is fancy...and sugae overload, too! we don't really put caramel sauce on turon because it's already sweet. the banana is sweet, the jackfruit is sweet and you already have caramelized sugar outside. no need for additional diabetes! 😅😅😅

      Fancy indeed as we want to make them extra special for our customers. By the way, we don’t put sugar inside our turon, just Saba banana and jackfruit. We also don’t use cane sugar but palm sugar and coconut milk for our drizzle. It is meant to complement the natural sweetness of banana and langka fruits. Would love for you to try Dad’s Best version of turon 😊.

    • @savedbygraceTYJC

      Best breakfast: “SILOG”, si for sinangag (garlic fried rice) and log for itlog (egg, usually cooked sunnyside up). Would have a prefix for the main protein ex TOCILOG for tocino (cured pork), TAPSILOG for tapa (cured beef), BANGSILOG for bangus (milkfish, marinated and fried), SPAMSILOG yes for SPAM! And yes there’s more.
      For other dishes: sisig, kare-kare, pinakbet, sinigang, bulalo, lechon, lechon paksiw, bicol express, laing… so much more! I’m getting hungry. 😅
      Come to the Philippines 😊 every province has their own specialties. The YT channels FEATR and Jessica Lee can give you great ideas.

    the noodles is mixed pancit canton (flour sticks) with bihon (rice noodles). basic lumpia shanghai is normally ground pork, carrots onions, sometimes water chestnuts and seasonings..cabbage not usually for pork shanghai lumpia. Halo halo is mix mix, good job. Tho havent heard of coconut milk being used, normally evapporated milk or a combo of evap and condensed milk. Sio pao usually a snack, since it's kinda heavy. Ukoy/Okay is one of my favorites, since there are a variety of ways to make. Should be eaten fresh tho..not cold. I usually have okoy with banana ketchup. Wow that version of turon might be tasty but that scary for a diabetic.
