Still out in the sticks but now in my early 50's I'm looking to find a accredited online design course and finally live my dream.

Hahahaha that's process for you! Sometimes you work on something and halfway you start to hate it because it's not going perfectly but if you persevere and do the best you can, you can end up with a result you like!

Render it normal--there's no special obvious texture to silk crepe.

Most alcohol based professional quality markers are fine. Copic, Prismacolor, Winsor & Newton, Blick, Touch, etc

But how do you manage to color with the markers before doing your line art WITHOUT smudging the graphite in your pencil and ruining the piece?
Leave your underdrawing minimal, use a hard lead that's less smudgy, try to marker away from the pencil.

Question; is it ok if you just design like are there jobs for designers who don't like to sew? In other words, could I be a designer who doesn't sew?
Designers don't sew, but they understand construction so they can oversee how their product gets made.
