  • In today's tutorial we'll be going over a handy tool in Illustrator that allows you to make various kinds of charts and graphs -- like a pie chart, for example. Then, we'll be going over how to make that pie chart 3D. Making a 3D pie chart in Illustrator is simply a matter of using the Pie Graph Tool to generate the chart, then using the Extrude and Bevel effect to make it three dimensional.
    One distinct advantage Adobe Illustrator has over other vector design applications is the abundance of tools and features it has -- one of which being its ability to generate charts and graphs with relative ease. In other vector applications, these things need to be designed manually. In Illustrator though, there are dedicated tools that will generate them for you. All you have to do is input your data.

    Whenever I use the exopand apperance function it just puts a rectangular path around the 3D object and I am not able to use ungroup to separate the faces of the pie slice. is there a work around for this?

    cool tutorial,just in editing you might want to zoom into tables where you type values or show a type of brush etc...

      You're right! I need to look into some better screen recording software. What I'm using now doesn't allow for that.

    Very cool tutorial! Thanks a lot :-) Just the expand appearance does not create shapes but images :-( Does anybody has an idea why this is happening?

    • @abettervideographer
      @abettervideographer 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@nikoadli I figured it out - between when this guy made the tutorial and today, Illustrator must have updated and changed the way this tool works. Instead of changing the color after "Expand Appearance", it lets you change color right away - you no longer have to "Expand Appearance" to change color. :D

    couldn't get the ungrouping to work work right. It stayed together as groups of shapes. it worked but I was only able to edit the pie pieces as blocks not each side if that makes any sense. Any idea why that would be happening?

      I had this problem too, so I tried using the extrude and bevel in the "3D (classic)" option in the effects dropdown menu instead of the newer version and it seemed to work fine.

      You have to click Object > Expand Appearance. ETA: And Ungroup twice after that.
