    This composition inspired by the Galilean moons of Jupiter demonstrates a range of delicate and vintage sounds within the SUB 37 Bob Moog Tribute Edition. With the exception of processed banjo and glockenspiel, all of the sounds have been created using a Sub 37.

    This video made me want to buy a banjo more than the synth. Seriously though, the one thing that all us Moog players must have is a 6op FM synth for the exact reasons Moog put a Glockenspeil and Banjo in this video.

    I really do like this sound of the Sub 37. A different beast than the Voyager, which is of course a different beast from the original model d, which has a little more of an edge to it than the Voyager. Can the Sub 37 get those Voyager-like full, warm, CLEAN, ooey-gooey analog tones? How would you (or anyone reading) compare the clean tones of the Sub 37 to those from the Voyager? It seems the 37 has a more modern/edgy sound than Voyager, to my ears at least.

    so he's using latch (on) for one harmony, and then layering another harmony on top? all while in step sequence mode?

  • @indiefilmcomposer

    Why is it that the grandmother tuning isn’t as stable as the subs 37 ? price point and build quality is my guess.....I tried calibrating pots and tuning and the drift on osc 2 doesn’t play well with other instruments. I have owned the slim phatty and voyager and never had any pitch or tuning issues ..
    love the sound of the grandmother but might upgrade to the sub 37 or go back to phatty, anyone with moog gear, thoughts?

    • @HotStrange
      @HotStrange 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      JVMC I believe the Sub 37 has some digital control which may have something to do with it. The Grandmother is all 100% analog besides the sequencer I believe.

    I traded mine for a grandmother. Why? You ask ? Well because the interface is cluttered and things like the bpm not being displayed in a very pricey synth on top of the very shift infested non friendly although very beautiful and impressive LOOKING interface is just not a true work horse at that price point. For a keyboard player who wants something to solo with and do the occasional sequence with some duopoly stuff it’s perfect. But the grand mother is a straight forward design wet dream in my humble opinion. So the price thing is justified for me . With Moog ... less is more Peace Christo

    • @HotStrange
      @HotStrange 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Christo Roppolo I agree and disagree. I loved the Grandmother but it’s sound is a bit too vintage for my tastes. It’s a masterpiece of a synth, but I prefer the darker, more modern take Moog took with this and the Sub Phatty.

    the second they release one with a different color scheme i'll snap it up right away. sorry but i can't fucking stand the ugly yellow LEDs. i know that's kinda moog's default color scheme or whatever but ugh, give me cooler colors like blue or purple or white
