hello there, i have a requestion. doesnt resetting the relearn value require a mut iii tool ? what is that fuse for? does it have the same result as pulling that fuse out andput it back in vs using mut iii? thanks , this is a great video. i am about to do this job my self as well. every input would be helpful
sorry for the late response. Havent used this account for a while. There is a difference. I found when pulling the fuse the error would come back. When I took it to the mitsubishi dealer they reset it for free and it has not come back since.
what up man what did you replace? I was told that I have to change the oil pump chain and the oil pump tensioner and the chain guide and plus the the part you change in the video did you change all the oil parts too ??
+Freddy Mercado Hey, No I didnt change the oil pump chain etc. I only performed what is outlined in this video. While everything is out it would probably make sense to do what you can.
Nice tutorial man ! :) I just got the dreaded triangle myself. I'm gonna order the parts and try to do it myself too, since the stealership is just damn too expansive. Mind if I trouble you with a few questions along the way !? Cheers !
what up man questions did you have any code on the car or was it just because it was stretch that you change it I have a code p0017 and I think my chain is stretch but some one said can can be the computer because there was a call back for it
+Freddy Mercado Hey, I replaced it because I got the P00012 error code. There is a way of determining whether your chain is stretched. You need to take of the cam cover. If you go here: roadraceengineering.com/blog/2012/10/15/4b11-timing-chain-good-bad-and-ugly-mostly-ugly-not-so-much-good/ It shows how you can do a visual inspection.
+Mr4zd hey buddy! are any of the bolts need to be torqued to a certain pound. would really like this info! bout to tackle my first timing chain. dealership is crazy expensive!!
so i just did this yesterday but when the chain is on there i spun the crack twice like the other tutorial said to but i got confused when i looked at the timing marks and they weren't in the same spot is that normal or should they be in the same stop every time after a turn or two
They will be at different spots with every turn. I guess because the crank sprocket is a different size so you would need a few more turns to eventually get the marks to line up again. The other video you saw was probably telling you to turn it by hand to check for interference between the piston and the valve.
Yeah the 08 to 10 evo x had a weak timing chain that would stretch, the new updated one will last a hell of alot longer if not the whole life of the car unless you run stupid amounts of boost but even then it will take that abuse lol
Thanks. The only problem was that the timing chain warning light came back after 5000km or so. I took it to a mitsubishi dealer and they reset the learned values at no cost. Since then it has been prefect.
Mr4zd so does that mean that the above clearing of the check light in the video is only temporary? Ultimately it has to be carried to the dealer to be reset?
Yes thats correct. It only lasted I think around 5000km's before the light came back on. I took it to the dealer (now 10000kms later) and it has not come back since.
Mr4zd Thanks for the reply. I just changed my chain and did the same reset by pulling the fuse. Will wait til it comes up and have it reset by the dealer.
great video, was hoping to see a lil more on installing serpentine belt install as well lol
mines at Mitsubishi getting a new chain and waterpump replaced this week, evo withdrawal. can't wait to get her back 🙄
The dealer told me they no longer use the top guide and too do the oil pump chain while your down there
I think my timing chain is going out what were the symptoms before going out?
You could easily be a voice double for Jason Statham
Alex Nguyen hahaha made my day :)
What was the torque specs for the engine motor mount
Do you have a scheme of the marks, how they should be at the chain installation including marks of the counter balancer chain?
vitalij jurt there is another video on youtube somewhere where a mitsubishi expert shows you how to line the markings up.
Is it need to change timing chain and how many miles need to change?
How to clean and change gears on the vanoses?

True thanks man
About how long did this take you?
Took me about 4 hours.
Hadn't done it, Hadn't got that tools I neeed yet. or the Service Manual
Nice tutorial man ! :) I just got the dreaded triangle myself. I'm gonna order the parts and try to do it myself too, since the stealership is just damn too expansive. Mind if I trouble you with a few questions along the way !? Cheers !
Sorry for the late reply. I sold my evo x a while back and havent used this account for a while. Hopefully all went well with your timing chain.
How did you torque the crank shaft pulley bolt?
Yoo Itszen did you figure out how to do it? Lol I’m stuck
Interesting you didn't have to cherry pick the engine out. How did you manage to get all of those Pullies out to gere to the Timing Chain Case?
Ik this late lol but you just remove the motor mount on that side and lift it up some and remove the 3 pulleys in the way

Thanks so much like the other video you did right but I'll look at the you send
+Mr4zd hey buddy! are any of the bolts need to be torqued to a certain pound. would really like this info! bout to tackle my first timing chain. dealership is crazy expensive!!
Hi sorry for the late reply. Yes there is a manual that you can download that had all the torque specs on it. I just googled it and found it.
Is it necessary to replace the timing chain plastic guides?
samuelrodriguezdj it came with the new timing chain so just did it anyway :)

85k KM for a chain replacement seems quite less than my expectation. Do you happen to know why the chain got stretched so quickly?
Yeah the 08 to 10 evo x had a weak timing chain that would stretch, the new updated one will last a hell of alot longer if not the whole life of the car unless you run stupid amounts of boost but even then it will take that abuse lol
and where did you order the chain and other parts
+Freddy Mercado I got the parts from a local mitsubishi dealer.
+Mr4zd cool thanks bro
+Mr4zd cool thanks bro
+Mr4zd cool thanks bro
i did everything other than change the tensioner it was still pretty strong
Nice work!
Nice work! Any prob with the new chain?

Will this be the same for a 11 ralliart
Yes, I think the ralliart has the 4b11 engine.
So why did you have to replace the chain j.w
Because he got a fault code of p00012
Did the timing chain and its all good but now i got 2 p0017 codes and idk what it is
Diego Olalde you ever found the fix for that? You probably messed the timing up, at least thats what i looked for
can you do more evo videos?
sorry for the late response. Unfortunately I sold the evo last year :(
Good
Didn't look like to much time was spent cleaning surfaces and without dropping oil pan i suspect future leaks you working flate rate lol !
