The guy that coated the undercarriage knew what he was talking about when he sprayed the bed liner material. I used to formulate that stuff in a laboratory, and do all the testing work for it. By using that instead of just paint, any parts covered by it will have their life extended by an extreme amount. That stuff will repel rust like you will not believe. The less sunlight it gets, the better and the longer it will last. To give it context, you could spray that stuff on the interior of a dump bed on a New England salt truck and use it for 10 years and barely have any rust from the inside out. You could coat the undercarriage of a salt truck, and it would last forever up here. Your coatings guy did you a huge favor, I promise you, especially since you really like gently used equipment that you can keep going forever with, like Betty. Oh, and when it cracks and peels? You can use a nylon cup brush on an angle grinder to strip down around the crack to bare metal, hose it down with acetone, and slap some more on there to patch it. Don't skip the acetone, it will help it bond.
as long as there is proper metal treatment underneath the bedliner, yes, bedliner works well but generally does not adhere well to bare steel. there are many flavors of bedliner available . some adhere to bare steel better than others but none that i've ever seen in my 30 years in autobody recommend applying over bare steel(but i have not seen everything on the market so maybe there is something new out there.....) repel rust? no such thing in any type of automotive/commercial coating. that's marketing mumbo jumbo😂

I’m not even up north and don’t get salt damage and I had my frame and everything under the truck coated. And my w900s frame and everything is bed lined and has been painted as well.
It might be great to prevent rust, but if makes it harder for him to keep it looking pretty it's not worth it, because he's not going to let it rust anyway.
Chris , I like that you used the stump height as reference for how much sediment is in this pond. I think lots of people expect a body of water this size to be 20’ deep and when you see it drained and it’s 5’ at best it looks like a huge mud puddle!
You can never appreciate how great that grading bucket is until you work a job like this one. It really looks like it makes life easier. The paint on the truck looks great!

A mirror isn’t something hard to get replacement parts for.. and ass soon at they ever get hard to find just update the bracket and mirror all together and the problem is fixed. Dirt moving equipment isn’t like old tractors or old cars. In the last day 40 years you can pretty much update or find about everything as long as you know what you have and need

Dang Chris, the old 380 looks awesome with the new paint. Too bad it won't stay that way, but for a little while. That's OK though, you don't buy equipment for it to look good, you buy it to work. Barny should get a decent workout tomorrow. Can't wait to see the video. I've got to admit, that ditch crossing with the 220 had my butt puckered the whole time you were crossing. . . . . Lol

That dam is beginning to look real nice. Much wider and more stable because the owners called in the Master pond whisperer. Nice to see Barney looking practically brand new. The mirror glass may be a tad to large but it'll still do the job it's intended to. Can't wait for tomorrow's installment.

@@sharonmiller6436up here in Yankee land summer is our dry period and we have 2 wet periods. One in spring and one in fall. Of course weather patterns have changed over ths last 50 years and we don't have near as much snow as we did when I was a kid.
@@FatKidBrody I'm even farther north in Ontario. I don't think we get the snow we did either back then. We had a nice dry period last summer and just before the crew came to start on our little addition it started to rain and really hasn't quit yet other than the odd sunny day. I am so looking forward to everything drying out by mid-June. 🙂

It's the little things that count - just have to be able to see where you are going - backwards! Haul truck looks 'smooth'. "Sheep's foot' job just looks like a sheep yard after a mob of sheep have been on it, although there are other 'ingredients' added. And 'bridge over running water' - this video had it all.

Until I started watching your channel I never knew it rained so much in NC.
Summers seem to be a bit drier, winter is when it really rains more, and the odd hurricane doesn't help much either. 🙂
