An amazing project Chris. Too bad that the winter weather wasn’t sufficiently cold to freeze the pond and allowing the use of bulldozers to push frozen muck. Looking back during your summary we can see your progress but during the video it seems that every bucket full you remove is promptly replaced. I geuss it is gonna be pasture for a few years. no way it can be worked this season. takes long for the mud to turn into soil. it needs birds to poop on it. and such big wad of mud has no reason for birds to get food out of it. next year it will be riddled with worms and other little bugs.

Amount of mud transfer you two have accomplished is amazing. Has this been your largest mud job??. The transfer pit is so soupy you could almost use a cement pump and just pump the goo to the field

They look like long laborious days chris. But at least each day you’ve got a little more clear ground to look at. Spare a thought for Jon spending every day digging out a pit that never empties. Nearly there now though, looking good 👍

You’ve taken out a lot of mud from the pond. Every bucket of mud you take out equals one more bucket of water the pond will hold. That mud will eventually be some great topsoil. I don’t know about anyone else but I could watch you at work all day long.
Good operator, could have been disaster if he had allowed that machine to slide into the pit. "Bad Day" would probably not been his choice of words. Good job to you both working in tough conditions with mud. Thanks for sharing my friend.
Just a thought on your mats we use mats like that in the oil fields. To make them more durable and last longer we wrap all 8 sides with 3”x3”x .25” angle iron with 1/4x3” flat strap welded from the top and bottom. Just a thought to make your mats more durable and last longer. But then again it the metal on them may make them a bit slippery on the tracks. Just a thought. By the way love your videos. It would be very interesting to see the liquified mud sprayed over a marginal field and then see what kind of crop it would produce. I think it would be amazing.
Going to need a fire hose to clean the equipment when you're done. First time I've seen you get the counter weight dirty so you must be having fun. Looks good even if it is 1 bite at a time.
I have a little Mitsubishi BD2 dozer with swamp tracks on it that would be perfect for pushing that slop out as you guys work. It’s perfect for having around the farm but it’s a little too small for anything else.
Well that’s a muddy mess you make it look easy but I know it’s all about how you go about it and you got the vision on how it should be to get it done and always ends up pretty sharp looking i would say you and your machine were meant to make a mess look like a piece of art cause it always looks good when you are done 😎🇺🇸
Chris, have you ever thought of making yourself a mud rake blade? Instead of using the mats make a lightweight curved blade with stiffeners so it doesn't bend. It would probably work really well when grading ponds , good job brother.
I thought the same... There's so many attachments a person could think of. Those mats should me made of recycled plastics instead - they'd likely bend instead of snapping apart the way wood does? 🤔
@@McBuggs. I kind of agree, when they chip off, you are probably creating some type of environmental hazard. Anything plastic typically holds that shape with weight and left in the sun. Now you need UV friendly plastic.
I don’t know what Chris or John pay for Mats but I can normally buy 20’x4’x1’ hemlock mats for around 1200-1500 dollars after they have been used for couple years they are considered scrap…so to use a couple of old mats for scrapping it is cheap and always nice to have an extra mat with you.
Could you order mats made out of oak, hickory, or locust? I’d think the right wood wood be worth it for durability of the mats. Evening it was a few extra dollars.

They might be able to grow potatoes until that soil packs down. Will be a fertile crop no matter what they grow.

Your could probably rig up a snow pusher to have the same attachment as a bucket. The sides would help contain the mud
