I would rebuild that motor and put a new clear coat on it the way it is (after you fix the rust) just to keep that original look that is a very special car you have there keep it and don’t let it out of your hands I’m glad to see that someone still appreciates these old cars
car thanks you for the bath...feels lighter! I used to hate vinyl roofs, but now kind of digging them, esp when they are the cool halo roof like this one has (had)...hope you go back with it...it would then match the trim tag. I pride myself on useless car trivia, but had never heard of the LM1 package. I knew of the LM1 engine of the mid 70's ('77 Z28), but not the LM1 'package', so had to read up on it...it came with a great basic performance driveline, less than the full-on SS but more than a base car. nice.
nice NICE Camaro ! and WOW ( at 10:30) i saw this NICE NICE car was last roadworthy in WOW 1997 !( license plate plate sticker year!) ive always admired Cameros especically a nice NICe showroom conditiion of a nice nice 1988 camaro Z28 a old old OLD OLD ( haha SHE retired that year elementry school teacher)*sigh* i saw her on the obituaries around 5 years ago A MONTH after her son was sentanced to 20 years !
Dude please invest in some boars hair detail brushes, microfibers and some buckets. Even tho the paint aint great you can still minimize the damage of an aggressive wash with proper tools. Also how much water got inside the car. The seals have to be shot.
Even though that is not a heavily optioned car it is still a great find because project Camaros in this condition are very rare today. Just the fact that it is all together and mostly good body panels is so rare here on the east coast. I would drive it as-is and people would be drawn to it like moths to a flame.
Reminds me of my first car a 1969 Firebird in high school. In the early 80s cars like these were plenty and cheap..good luck now finding one in good shape but the prices are out of reach for most of us now especially if you are younger man. Like the same story line wish we had kept them but we drove them instead and enjoyed them for what they were!! Nice Camaro hope you keep and restore it! 😎👍
Two weeks ago, I went to an estate sale that featured a 1969 Camaro convertible. Unfortunately the 3 adult kids (of the 80 year old guy that died and was the owner of the car) were delusional because they put a reserve on the car of $8,500. When I took a good look at the car I was shocked. It was a completely rusted out POS with a 307ci engine, automatic that had 175k miles on it. BTW, the interior was shot, the windshield was cracked, the drivers side glass was missing, and every body panel had substantial impact damage and did I mention a LOT of rust too! Sad, because the car would have sold for $4k or maybe even $5k but the dumb a$$ kids wanted $8,500 or more (as they were hoping for a bidding war). Greed is a funny thing.
Yes, but the funny thing is it’s a convertible and it’s worth every penny of that $8500! I would have bought that car and smiled towing it home. I want a convertible someday
This guy is so happy to find any car he is goofy. Just wash the car man! Non optioned 67-69 Camaros are not sought after all. The pros I know part them out for NOS. Nothing like from the factory (on a car parts). This car is worth a lot more for parts, glass, seats etc. Part it out and get paid to the last screw.
It's all clean! "I can see through the glass now" "air cleaner is all shiney" "all it needs is some fresh paint" HILARIOUS! Is this an ad for Super Clean?????
Curious if it has a 12 bolt. According to Camaro folklore, sometimes the LM1 could have either going down the build line since it was a poor man’s SS 350.
@@KFLY67I owned a 69 RS/SS with a four speed 350 engine. My car came with a single track rear end. Standard equipment even on the SS package. Your car has the 12 bolt rear end a very nice option and rare to have.
I use simple green too, but nothing beats Super Clean, I've tried everything, in fact you have to be careful with some of the Super Clean products, because they work so well, they'll take your paint right of your car.
You blasted away rotten windscreen seals - I think ?? No harm done if stored dry or if you’re going to remove windscreen and replace perished rubbers with new..........if not beware damp ingression promoting more or new rot. Good luck with the car, she is certainly beautiful....👏👏🙏
No rotten seals, that you saw in the video was someone’s cheep window fix with a tube of house silicone caulking back in the day. Whoever ends up buying the car is going to restore her like she deserves.
@@KFLY67most if not all 69 Camaro(s) windshields front and back leaked water. A lot of Camaros hit the junk yard all rusted out because of these leaks. Luckily for you someone actually did a decent job of using silicone to help seal the windshields. I had one and took the chrome trim off around the windshield and used silicone to help stop the water leaks.
looks good i finally got a 67 rs/ss car a fue months back. it needs full restoration but its mine hows your wifes car coming along this 69 looks like a keeper cleaned up nice.
I'm confused. I thought a girl owned the car and it had a 400 in it that the previous owner put in I guess. 400 Pontiac? Very odd. Really nice car though.
Okay I'm confused. You say in this video, that it is the "all original engine" but in your last video, the girl you buy it from, says that it is not the original engine, that the numbers she ran, said it was infact a 400 (not original 350) so did you pull the 400 out and replace it with the "all original 350"? And the previous owner, says she stocked the guy for 2 years, trying to get him to sell the car to her. So she finally gets the car after 2 years, and then almost immediately wants to sell it to you. Then you get the car, you, your wife and your son are all happy about getting it. And now, almost immediately after you get it, you too want to sell it.?????? Please help me make some sort of sense out of this.
Engine has all the original parts. Girl had the car for over 10 years. Ever heard the saying "Everything forsale''? I've had several people wanting to buy the car, it is not forsale at this time.
I kept thinking, "man, this guy sure does like using that brush, certainly he knows better than to use it on the paint.(even with how old it is)" but no, he used that brush on everything
@@austinrobertson6940 that's probably exactly what he is gonna do. And besides it's his car anyway, it just surprised me when he was using it on the whole car. But yes your right.

That old girl is a prime restoration candidate.

Friend, start washing from the top of the car down and save yourself a lot of time.

my eyes burn watching him scrub glass that way, why not put som detergent on a bucket and wash the car like a normal person lol

Not a bad idea to dampen the car before applying any cleaner.
Super clean, for those concours restorations 😂😂😂
Still better looking than most new cars today.
