narrowboat signwriting - Gladys and Bonnie

Just a short video this week I'm afraid. But it's rather special as it features some photos that I was sent by Robin Wagg, the professional signwriter, who has just finished writing / painting Gladys's name on her.
What an artist! How he does it, well I just don't know, but the results speak for themselves. Whilst at Aintree Boats, he also did the signwriting on Clive's boat, Bonnie. Clive has sent me a photo of her, and, like me, he is thrilled with what Robin's done.
So, here are a few photos of Gladys and Bonnie - I hope you'll be as impressed as I am with Robin's work.
Clive is planning on visiting Aintree Boats towards the end of May / early June and he'll update me on how much more progress has been made.
Hope you'll enjoy this video - next week I expect to be 'filming' at a canal somewhere, and hopefully with my Brompton!

Absolutely fabulous Jeff .The blend of colours are a perfect complement for each . I would safely say that for all of us who have praised the designs etc , through the comments here are in 100% of approval 👍

Hi Jeff, The signwriting looks fantastic on both boats. I'm really impressed with the font style and the 3D effect on Gladys, and so skillfully done as well. You must be very pleased. Go and get that Holzhausen finished and we'll see you on the Brompton in your next video. Take care Jeff 👍

She's looking fabulous Jeff, you really have chosen the right colour scheme and sign writing 👍 I'd love a Border Terrier too, we did have a West Highland Terrier a few years ago who lived to she was 16 and I do miss a dog, but my wife is not so keen now to have another 😟
Thanks Iain! Yes I am glad I chose that shade of red. I had thought for a while of a more traditional, darker red, but then decided to stick with my original idea 😊 The signwriting certainly goes well with the colours.
Terriers are my favourite dog of all and I still miss mine - he died in 2006. If I decide to get a dog, it'll almost certainly be another Border. It's so awful when you eventually lose them though - but that said, in today's topsy turvy world, where anything might happen at any time - maybe its better just to go for it! Anyway, it's something I am thinking of, for sure. 🙂

Wow, the signwriting on Gladys & Bonnie is perfect! Love the pawprints on Bonnie, guessing there's at least one dog or cat going to be on her when she's on a canal somewhere.

I think you're probably right about Bonnie - a dog is going to have a great time exploring the canals on her! I'm toying with the idea of having one myself, but still thinking about it.
Yeah - normal service resumes next Saturday... I just need to decide where to take the camera this week! 😊
@@Gladysthenarrowboat It appears it's going to rain again all week so if you're not waterproof maybe better get out there tomorrow. It's nice seeing the sun but I actually prefer something between sun & rain.
A dog is a great companion but also a serious responsibility for their lifetime, not something to do without a lot of thought is it. I'm sure you'll make the right decision.

Yeah, I saw the forecast too. Lots of rain, on and off - just enough, I expect, to mess up the towpaths 😒 Its so annoying... when I was young, we had very predictable weather (always lots of snow in winter, always long hot summers), but now it's an odd nice day or two and then back to misery again for weeks!
Nice idea about filming tomorrow but I've too much else to do - so it'll have to be one day early in the week. I'd hoped to use the Brompton this time - but its a no-no if I'll get wet (cleaning it afterwards is such a pain!). Never fear though - I WILL do something!!!
I've had a dog before - he died some years ago now, aged 14, and part of me would love to have another one - if I do, it'll probably be another Border Terrier like he was - brilliant little dogs! Anyway... watch this space!
@@Gladysthenarrowboat I'm old enough to remember proper summers & winters too, it's definitely very different these days.
I walk a 14 year old lady Border Terrier twice a week as a volunteer with the Cinnamon Trust, she's a sweetie & gets me out meeting people on our trundles together. Never met a BT before but we often meet others on our short walk so there seem to be plenty around.
I have a feeling you'll be sharing your boat with one from the way you talked about your boy.
Aw, that's great - I bet she's lovely😁 . I've heard of Cinnamon Trust - a great idea👍 Yes, they are much more common now than when we first had ours - I've never met a Border yet that wasn't happy and friendly😊 Just not sure what I'll do about it yet though Annie.
