I almost had an asthma attack laughing at this episode. It doesn’t help that I’m hopelessly juvenile at heart. The title should have been “As it is in the bedroom, so too is it on the job”. Nick- “Me and Clare, we’ll be fine” Nick- “Aarrrrgghh!!” Care-“I can’t…….push it” Nick- “Don’t push it up…..,no don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t, my hand’s in the way”…..”Hold it a second, okay” “Pull!” Clare- “I’m pulling”. “I can’t push any more because it’s that tight against the top”. Nick- “There”. Clare-“ Right,..I’ve got it. It’s not in at this side,…did you know that? You can see”. Nick-“Hold it”. Clare- “Yeah, I’m holding, I’m holding” Nick-“Yay! It’s up there,…just. Clare- “That’s what she said”. It was a total pissa! “Nobody likes a floppy wrist”. GOLD! I hope the “Sin” was satisfactory. Till next time…..
If it’s distemper on the ceiling you have to wash it off using sugar soap before you can paint over it :( horrible job but the only way to get a good finish I think ?
Cornices finish off the room beautifully. I watch another you tube channel and they had the same problem with ceiling, apparently distemper and must be washed off otherwise paint doesn’t stick.
Wow I can't believe how different the rooms look with the coving up! Nick you are quite amazing at all you are able to accomplish and if you don't know how to do something you still just get right in there and get it done. It really looks gorgeous! Well done! Clare you are the genius with that sander and the those floors. The two of you are quite the team and I love how well you both just go at it and just get it done. I love your channel so thank you for all of your hard work and great content each and every week. I'm sure the efforts to make these videos takes a lot of your time and I for one really appreciate it. Cheers for Toronto
Great going on the drywalling and the cornice moulding. I love the bit of "fancy" on the ceiling. Our 1970s popcorn ceilings just don't measure up! Tiles will look great! And cheers to strong, muscular wrists! 🍻
Good job on the Coving, Nick!! You looked like a magician in the hyper-speed bits where you were practicing with the off cuts for the tricky pieces of Coving!! Made me smile!! Ok, yes, bulbs, Clare for growing your amazing flowers, but they always look as though they're in a floral shop, fresh & crisp!! It's a serious talent you have, I guess!! Sorry you're Bosch, bisched, Clare! It had a good run, though! Absolutely love the tiles...the variegated colors are perfect!! Blessings, you pair!! 🇺🇸
Wow, thanks! - really appreciate your nice comments each week... keep your eyes peeled next week about he sander! Happy Easter Sunday from France - Clare & Nick xx
My dearest Dear you need to use a big adjustable pole. Thats what she said. for the ceilings. That was the best breakup with a sander EVER. Wet myself . Thanks for that. Love from Canada
Cor - a sander on a pole!! what sorcery is this?? I agree but sometimes you need to go in by hand for erm... the proper finish!! ayeaye!! keep your eyes peeled next week for a sander update xx
Hi Robert - I so agree with you at times - we have a bit of a surplus of sandpaper we got cheap so are using it up, for one of a few things - the money we are saving by doing this is being spent on osmo oil $$$$$$$$
Cheers to another week! Are you thinking ahead to pool weather? I really believe you two did well to get the pool and the outdoor lounge areas up and running early on, because when it gets a bit warmer, you have your own spa after a hard day’s renovation!
Oh Gloria! we hope to open it all up over the next few months. The weather here is so indecisive at the moment. We got the garden table out of storage but it has rained since...
So in the big house the Maison de Maitre - nothing spooky so ever! apart from one area of the cellar! our side of the house (is older - yes there is a staircase that screams "I will drag you to hell"!! )
😂 I just love your channel, always makes me laugh and end with a smile. You would be so much fun to have a drink...or two (3 or 4) with, I just know it. 😂❤
You need to wash the distemper off the ceiling first. As others have stated. I think I’d have put a mirror over the fireplace , not the tiles. But we will see what the completed room looks like.

Can give you an insight - this weeks episode is a tad tame compared to next weeks but hope you enjoy it all the same! C & N

The coving is expensive, but it gives a beautiful finish to a room, so in my opinion it is well worth it 😊
We think so too Norma! Happy Easter C&N

Glad to report - two layers of white wash has fixed and repaired the ceiling... fingers crossed!!

Cheers Eric! it is normally one day of solid editing for me - but the results are worth it!!

Nick, you never cease to amaze me with your new found carpentry skills. Nice job.
Wow, thanks!
I loved those tiles they look even better on the wall. Best of luck with the sander.
It's all coming together beautifully, well done you too.🍷
Thanks! not too long now!!
Coving makes such a dramatic finish, looks great ❤
A tremendous amount of work for you both!!! Looking amazing😊❤
Cheers Donna - Happy Easter! x
Hire a property floor sander, probably cheaper and quicker than hand sanding floors!
As I saw on another channel, a floor sander can tear up the old wood flooring. They use a large hand orbital sander that seemed to work quite well.

I think need to put a good quality of primer before painting.
Hi Patrick - double whitewash - pleased to report was a mega great primer - stay tuned possibly next week to see a colour!
I love the colour of the tiles
Brilliant 🎉x
I am impressed by the poly foam molding.
We were too - it was not cheap but it looks good!
It's a floor duster for our shiney tiled floors, they work a treat!
every day is a school day!
You 2 crack me up.

Getting closer to the big reveal!
slowly but surely
Lov the splashes of spring flowers! Well Done!
this year is a slow start there are as not as many flowers as last year - soooo much rain!!
I agree Nick. Good job done ✅
One man band - handy man!!
All looks fantastic 😍
Thank you! 🤗
Fantastic 🎉
Those wrists must make kneading bread a lot easier🤣
That's true!
Omg Clare, too funny. I think you should splurge and get yourself a nicer sander. ❤ you deserve it with all that wrist action going on.
Keep your eyes peeled next week... shhh it will be worth it!!
Another great episode!!!! Condolences Clare hahaha 😂 an do you ever experience spooky happenings in your beautiful home?
So in the big house the Maison de Maitre - nothing spooky so ever! apart from one area of the cellar! our side of the house (is older - yes there is a staircase that screams "I will drag you to hell"!! )
Nice job all
Thanks
It’s all looking good, have you prime the plaster board and plastered walls before painting? It’s a must.
The white wash acts as an epic primer for the plasterboard walls... fingers crossed!
We would use a good primer before the paint.
