    That sander looks awesome! Haven't come across that style before. I hope your pigeons are successful! I like pigeons. I also tend to name a couple of our recognizable wild birds each season. This year we have a very angry male hummingbird and a poop-head of a male yellow bellied sapsucker.
    Windows truly are a "pane". Good one!😂
    Looking forward to the progress on the bedroom you've just cleaned. Clean is always such a "happy place"! 😊

      I love hummingbirds! I have only ever seen them in the Caribbean - the way they move and the colours were amazing.
      I have just googled what a yellow bellied sapsucker is. I have never seen or heard of one. The only similar one we get over here and in the UK is the great spotted woodpecker.
      Every day is a school day!

    Claire you crack me up! Always game for whatever. Love the big clock and table with marble top the old work shop. Can’t wait to see what you do with them.

    If you have time, check out the tool Doing It Ourselves vloggers use. It sands the joint compound on plasterboard and he also uses it to sand floors. One nice feature is it vacuums dust as you go.

    So good to see you both. Hope that sander makes those next floors easier to get finished. Good to see the bedrooms for those gorgeous bathrooms getting started. Have a wonderful week. ❤❤

    You both do a wonderful job! The place is looking great. I really enjoy your sense of humour! I have a question regarding permits on builds in France. And sorry if you’ve already answered this in the past! Do you need/get a permit to do any of the electrical work? Or for the plumbing work? Or does a ‘local’ inspector come and check after the work is done?

    • @theexpatbutchers
      @theexpatbutchers  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As long as you can guarantee the work for ten years - once completed - and if you sell the house after you are all good.
      We do get the electrics checked once Nick has done them by an electrician just for our peace of mind. But you can pretty much do these yourself. No building inspector required.

    Clare's new toy looks very effective - does it take off too much in one spot, or is it fairly easy to keep an even sanding finish? I know the really big floor sanders are risky for making gouges in flooring. Nice job repairing window Nick, as well as the ventilation system - does it run continuously? Or do bathrooms have a switch to turn them on?

    • @theexpatbutchers
      @theexpatbutchers  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I a going to have to give it a go to see more of what it is like when you move the sander around... I did go a little bit 'gun ho!' with the testing. The ventilation runs continuously - but it is quite quiet. hope you enjoy tonight's episode. All the best from France - Clare & Nick
