This is Part 1 of 2
I'm a photographer, thinker and a coffee drinker...and I travel. :)
This year I went to India for 5 weeks and decided to start doing TH-cam as a way to collect memories and show my friends, family and hopefully YOU!

After 17 years I'm coming back to Varanasi/Benares. Arriving in the middle of the night. So much has changed in these years.
The first thing i noticed, was the presence of security, they are present everywhere. I don't mind that thou.
The other thing that caught my attention after all these years, was how few dogs there were along the Ghats.
Another thing was that there were not as many "Holy Men" camping and doing their thing along the Ghats.
However Varanasi is still Beautiful place and should be visited more than once.

Found my Hotel- Alka Hotel, at Meer Ghat... very disappointed with the Hotel. Location is point on but the room I got the second night was cold and humid...all my clothes were damp after just a few hours. Pointed this out, but they didn't really react to it. Payed extra to have my breakfast included, but still had to pay every morning. Pointed this out to the front desk and they told me they would get back to me about that...it's been over 2 months now, nothing so far... :)
There are many positive reviews for the Hotel online...and that's actually how I found it. I'm just one traveller with my experience.

Thank you. The coffee was alright as I said in the video. But as a coffee nerd I'm a little hard to please. It's a fantastic place to have lunch or a coffee. Highly recommend

Dharmashala,, Kodaikanal, visakhapatnam, Darjeeling, Shimla, Kulu Manali, Himalayan region, kashmir, ladakh, allora caves, world heritage site tanjavur bruhadeeshwara temple tamilnadu,palani temple tamilnadu here the god idol is made up of different types of ayurvedic medicines when we pour any liquid on idol it absorbs the medicinal properties and we drink the liquid we don't get any diseses, Andaman Nicobar islands lakshadweep islands, and northeast India, Kerala, tamilnadu, Karnataka, goa, Hyderabad, Orissa - puri, konark, bhubaneswar
Up - varanasi, ayodhya

I don't know what I learned from Varanasi. One thing struck me, there are fewer "holy men" on the ghats and way fewer dogs than 17 ears ago.
You can not trust the reviews on Booking for the hotels. On that note I will not stay at Alka Hotel again.
I don't know what else I learned ... I had a great time. :)
Well it’s sad to read about your experience, however, which need to get fix local and govt, well this is opportunity market which is not right, people are not trained enough to customer care or geniality, and proper management and cleaning ness perhaps, but if you see third direction you may see some of better people there too, same as every were, secondly dogs are there because lot of food people fed them after rituals. Sorry for you for all inconvenience
I would hardly go to such a place, all narrow dark lanes, dogs aplenty.
