Jacks look you in the eyes and really seem to understand humans so well. They need to be doing everything with you. Lovely pets and so much love.

I miss my JRT so much. Best little friend for over 16 years. Sweet, and adored me as much as I adored her.

I have a Westie. Part of the problem I found with him (and I am not a first time dog owner) was he never went through the "dumb puppy" stage. It is not easy to keep one step ahead of a dog that is constantly problem solving.
And it's true: they need very physical release of energy. They are a hunting dog, and that prey drive switch is broken in the "on" position. We had a routine with him, especially as a puppy, and that helped a lot.

We went from a house with 25 acres to an apartment while we are building a new home. The apartment life isn't easy for our dogs but a couple of 20-30 minute walks per day keeps them pretty well calmed down. We take them both to the dog park for a couple of hours on Saturday and Sunday mornings and they are pretty much sedated for the rest of the day. They also REALLY like chasing my remote control truck around the park (just not on hot days, they will both overdo it).

JRT for sure will benefit the more time is put in! I reckon they LOVE training!! 🌟🌟🌟 PS everyone needs a break sometimes, don't feel guilty - remember life happens! 🙂

So true what you say about exercise we have x2 and if they don’t get x2 hrs walk per day split between morning and evening they are a total nightmare. We also have a yard but they still need their walks. I would think long and hard before you get a Jack as they need a huge commitment. Love your channel.

I didn't read up at all about Jack Russell Terrier, I just got a call from the recuse center saying that did I still want the dog? I didn't remember which dog they were talking about but they had a puppy and i' had been looking for a while for a puppy. WHy? I don't know, just to experience it for one. WhenI met Jasmine, it was love at first sight. She gave me a heart attack the first week I had her because she wiggled out of her harness and made a run for it. Thankfully for me she was too afraid to cross the street so she basicallyjust ran around the bock . That's when I finally started reading about Jack Russell Terriers. She is stubborn when she wants to be, but she is also affectionate and loving and loves to take a nap on a pile of my smelly laundry. I might live in a smal apartment, but i live near a fairly large and well attended dog run. The first time I took her she hid under a bench around the fifth or sixth time I took her, she took off like a rocket and ran around in circles with her friends and play fought with them for well over an hour. I might have seconded guessed myself if I had seen this video first and I probably would have second guessed myself, but even so, the second guesses would have gone away the moment I met her. I WFH, so my main challenge is not spending every afternoon playing with her. She really loves eating shoe laces, belts, bag straps and computer cords.

Playing hide and seek with jrt is fun.

My JRT will be 3 in October and still challenges me which is ok as the pros definitely outweigh the negatives.
    Good to see guys back!

A Flirt Pole is key for JRT, easy to use and they can chase their prey. It's a WIN.

We now have 2 JRT +Pug mixes (Jugs or Retro Pugs). Had a full pug and my parents had rat terriers so kind of had an idea what I was going to be in for for the first Jug. Grew up with dogs too. She (Brianna) was exhausting!!!! Had to be 2 steps ahead of her! The second one (Clover) was easier as we had one already one but still a lot of work. Definitely times I looked at her saying, "This isn't my first rodeo pup. You're not getting away with that!" 🤣 Sadly, people assume any pug mix is going to be mellow and some are but Jugs are about 70% more energy than a regular pug with the JRT mix. Definitely agree would not recommend first dog unless you are very prepared and can exercise them. Many people rehome them because they can't handle them but just have to keep them very active! We definitely found our breed and both are velcro dogs and wicked smart. Both love to go for walks in the woods and swim. Or just up for any adventure!

Got really lucky with my jack russell. She is not a jumper and calm. Only thing I could not get her to do is stop being leash reactive to other dog. And that is just lack of opportunities.

I am a first-time owner, & I have been stuck with owning a Jack Russell for 5 entire years now, ever since I adopted it as a puppy. It is a tiny, talkative, & lightning-fast dog that is too noisy for me to own, because I now know today, that it is small, fast, & noisy enough to be used as a livestock guardian. When I came across the videos that were titled, “Dog Breeds That Can Defeat”, I suddenly knew how I can save myself from it., So, Now, I am asking every TH-cam user there is, that all have videos that focus on Dog Breeds That Can Defeat, to all make videos that have the dogs that are the best at winning in a fight against a Jack Russell, or the dogs that are the best at saving me from a Jack Russell. 👿 😾 🤯 😰 😨 😓 😥 🥵 🤬 😡 😠 😤 🥺 😩 😫 😣 😖 🥶 😒 😞 😔 🙁 😕 😌 🥰 😍 😻 😘 😇 🥲 🤩 🥳 😏 😼 😈

It's like having a cat and dog at the same time, behavior wise..
