There’s an interview out there where a journalist asks the members of Audioslave who their inspirations are. Without missing a beat Chris says, “Michael Jackson”. The other members crack up but he stays straight faced, lol. It’s so uncomfortable but that’s who he was. Unapologetically authentic.
I can’t help but tear up every time I hear that song. I’ve seen him 2x solo and once at the garden with temple of the dog. My favorite rock vocalist ever.
I just love it when an artist covers a song and makes it their own. Chris absolutely nailed this. Missing him now... This is up there with the (very) recent TH-cam cover of "Thriller" by the band Dirty Loops and Cory Wong. Probably not in your wheelhouse David (since they are more of a jazz-funk-pop fusion deal), but Chris' and their covers of these MJ songs are probably the best out there IMO.
Interesting, he went blues with it. It throws you off but the difference really grabs you. It takes guts to take a cover in an almost completely different direction, and it takes talent and skill to make it work. Generous score I liked it better as well
It was pretty boring tbh but he had a great voice so it works. I think if you’re going to cover a masterpiece you have to really change it up so good on them for that.
Chris is still my favourite singer and was in one of my top 3 bands soundgarden. It's almost insulting that he is also a master at covers and sometimes makes them better than the original. The man had no business being so fucking good 😄
Definitely leaving wanting more😢. I got lost in the end losing everything except vocals. I love the breaking the rules of how most music is supposed to work. I've always wondered why they didn't do music together since they were such close friends 🥺
I like this better than the original but I listened to an acoustic version sometime back with just Chris and an acoustic guitar and I liked it way better than this version, I don’t remember which video it was but it’s worth taking a listen if you can find it 🤘🏽
I know this version wouldn’t exist if not for the original. So I have to bear that in mind. That said, I do prefer this version much better. Chris brings the pain.
Love the review, but I wish you would have picked Cornell's raw acoustic version. It is so much better than this, in my opinion. Not only is his voice more pronounced and powerful, but the aggressive strumming he does is so perfectly placed within the song. Please do yourself a favor and listen to that version.
Hey David. This version Chris's voice was really worn out if you want to hear him really sing this good listen to this version instead th-cam.com/video/R0uWF-37DAM/w-d-xo.html
I as well love this version more than the original. But for me its because 1: I never cared for MJ and 2: I LOVE Chris and any of his bands and the song he chose. But yes love how he changed this song this way. i seen him do this live one of the first times he did this in 2011 in a small venue here where i live and it was a awesome surprise as i never heard his version before. He is so missed but we are fortunate to have recordings like this to watch time and again when ever we want.
I’m just gonna go cry in the corner now while I miss Chris
Very reasonable
Gay
@@MrRaErickson You ok there smooth brain ?

RIP Chris! This man was a musical genius. Sure miss him.😞
RIP Legend, what a voice, what a man :)

Up there with his best performances, it's epic.

Chris was one of the best ever. I know Michael was a great Pop star but Chris was 100% SOUL. He was so amazing. I cried for three days when he passed.
Such a unique voice. So missed. Thank you for the reaction and thanks to whoever requested it.

David, I love how you break down the songs to their bare bones. Great work
My favorite singer, EVER. Miss you, CC.
No one on the planet who can do grungy blues like Chris Cornell.
What a voice. Chris is really missed.
One of the best renditions of all time. React to Soundgarden's Black Rain when you get a chance.
The best version that makes us listen to the lyrics and makes us cry because Chris Cornell is gone from this earth....so many tears!!
I love this version (live at MSN)...I havent seen anyone review it....sweet
I liked much more the acoustic version that chris did in sweden🔥🤟

Love this version. It brought to life the inspiration behind the original and you got the darkness that was missing in the MJ version.
Amazing cover he actually made this song his 🎵🎼🎵
Nice review! Another Cornell solo tune you should hear is “You Know My Name” off the James Bond, Casino Royale soundtrack.
I heard this year's ago, prior to his passing. I'm so glad to hear it again along with the reaction from one of my favorite YT reactors!
There is a different version... With just him and an acoustic guitar. Miss him so much! 💔

It was probably the Unplugged in Sweden version. No footage unfortunately
Dave, if you didn't know before...I think you know now, that CC is the GOAT...and its not even close!
Amazing but I think you should try his solo acoustic version as a part 2 chris wad power throughout the whole thing whilst playing acoustic guitar
always my "like", bro!
What a great remake, I liked it more than MJ's original too. Chris really put the song into a new perspective. Excellent reaction DH.
Great review. A great cover I think you'd like and should review is Red House live by Gary Moore 👍
Good
1 of 1 talent 😢
top! But there is also great acoustic version.
Please do Damien rice I remember, BBC 4 sorry I may get a restraining order keep going on , i know you'll love it lol sorry !!
Maybe joy Division? Atmosphere?
I know this version wouldn’t exist if not for the original. So I have to bear that in mind. That said, I do prefer this version much better. Chris brings the pain.
Never understood the song until chri s did it. Rip
Great one but I like his unplugged version better
There are much better live versions than this out there.
That was my thinking as well.
Nice reaction! Have u heard Alipbata's cover of Michael Jackson's Black n White? 🤔 Let's click the button n check it out 😱😱🤩🤩😍😍😍
