  • "Melius Domos Et Horti"! Means: "Better Homes & Gardens"! Donner guitars cannot be beat in price, sound quality or paint job finish. Donner is the German word for "Thunder"! I set them up medium-high action with my preferred custom string gauges and am completely satisfied with these instruments. I've had custom built instruments for decades and owned, played, recorded and performed with many Stratocasters and guitars of all prices ranges and extremes. These guitars hands down are some of the best, and suits my aesthetic and sonic needs. I wanna be clear, I do like some single coil bridge pickups on various Strats US and import. But many just don't work for me tonally. These single coil pickups are not noiseless, but they are great with the best and highest output are on the DST-400. I use all 3 pickups with the tone and volume knobs regularly. My main sound is not heavily distorted and cleaner than most playing Metal or Shred, and I use a noise gate sometimes. Also when using the neck and middle pick ups together they act like double coils and cancel out noise. So I'm used to dealing with and controlling real single coils in various ways. The fret size on these electrics are more like the smaller vintage Fender frets, and not like the medium jumbos which many Stratocasters type guitars have trying to be more like Jackson, Charvel and other modern brands. There are the neck profile differences with 1 5/8 nut widths, but DST-400 has a fatter fuller neck, DST-152 & Q1 is a mid thickness feel, DST 100 is thinnest and a flatter radius than the 400, 152 or Q1. The tone and feel of each series is interesting with the different fretboard wood combinations of rosewood, laurel and purpleheart with alder and poplar bodies.
The classical guitar in the video is the DAC -112 with the 54mm nut width, online it's listed as DCG-1. Donner also offers a 52mm nut width classical guitar that I may check out. At these prices I personally think anyone professional and hobbyist should have one or a few as a main instrument or back up. The paint jobs on these electric and classical guitars are better than many I've seen at 2-3 times the cost.
The Better Homes & Gardens ribbons came from their kitchen hand towels at Walmart.

I ordered the 152 a few days ago from Amazon. Still waiting for it to arrive (was supposed to be two day shipping, thanks prime 😒), but I am looking forward to getting it and playing. Bought it as my first guitar.

Congratulations. 152 line is very good, especially as a first guitar.

Congratulations! DST 152 is an excellent 1st or 300th guitar! My sunburst 152 is like my 1st electric guitar, except that this fingerboard is maple.

Were you able to do a quick review on the Donner DST 200 as well?.. These are cool too, But the 200 seems to be the current series at the moment... Take care 🎵

I haven't played the 200 series, but I'm sure it's good as the other lines and eventually get one. Everything from Donner so far has been pleasing. I looked at the specs for the 200, fingerboard is purpleheart with poplar body, so its like the 100 but with coil-tap to make the bridge pickup single or double coil, and a painted headstock. The sonic resonance of the 100 is unique because of the fingerboard and body combo, no other strat from any brand sounds like it, so the 200 will most likely show those acoustical characteristics. The 152 line with laurel fingerboard and poplar body also has its own unique tonality. That' s what makes Donner great, each series is not necessarily better than another, but the different wood details and specs offer tonality differences. And the 100 has a flatter fingerboard radius than the 152 or 400. The pickups for each line are slightly different and all sound good. I utilize them depending on what I'm tonally in the mood for.

Are the donner electric guitars full body size thickness as a fender? Also are the fretboard/neck thick and wide like fender?

Donner electric guitar bodies here are standard Strat sizes with feel and contours. The necks on mine have minor differences [but I also have different gauge strings on them at the moment with various tunings which may affect how they feel]: DST-400 is the thickest feeling, DST-100 has a slightly flatter radius, DST-152 is in between and same radius as DST-400. All have vintage style tuners with square blocks on back, which I prefer. DST-400 tuners are slotted open top on pegs. All these models have vintage size fret wire. A modern element with them is a more satin finish on the necks instead of gloss. The single coil pickup magnets on DST-400/100 are staggered, on DST-152 they're even. They may be different pickups on each model, but for me these are some of the best single coils I've heard. So overall there's a vintage yet modern vibe with the details, and in some ways makes them more original Fender like, than modern Fenders.

Yeah, I've never really been able to find anything off the show but I like I have the Four hundred series Everything else. I've got a pretty much bought and modified heavily. I'm not a guitar Snap either. I just want to make a sound the way I want it to sound. Don't care what names do what heads.. I'm a strat guy for 37 years or so, don't think that's gonna changei'm pretty neck of the woods too period but I lived in Nebraska for the last 25 years period pardon Nebraska, I mean, you get a kind of order everything online and. Do it yourself. N*****'s Guitar Center is a 150 miles. I'm a mosquito Sam ash in Columbus, Ohio, though Guitar Center.

Yes Donner guitars sound good the way they are. I'm not into modifying anymore unless something needs to be replaced. The 400 is as Fender as it gets and with better pick ups. I like the different wood combinations on the other series for different tones and feel. The radius on the 100 is flatter like an old school Charvel or Jackson. Nowadays those brands come with compound radiuses which I'm not into. Warmoth started compound radiuses back in the 80s and have owned several but prefer an even radius.

@@asherasator I'm just saying man this cheap copy being better than every possible guitar ever just has to be a sales gimmick. I've played on the 400 and the 152 and both were absolutely unplayable and sounded like cardboard. They don't even feel like instruments more like toys...

    • @asherasator

@@preston_4824 I set up my guitars the way I like. I've owned more custom built instruments than anyone I know, and for strats these guitars and pickups are better than most, especially for the price. The wood combination tones and resonance for the 100, 152 and the Q1 for me is unique. The classical for the price and quality is unparalleled. To call these "toys" is ridiculous. I can play anything I want at any price, and these are what I enjoy playing at the moment. Some people need to pay a lot for things to feel good about them, which is fine. Placebo effect is real.
