That place is a Hilton hotel room compared to the very small 2 man rooms I had in Germany back in the 80's. We each had a bed, wall locker, one desk for both of us to share, and a communal bathroom at the end of the hall. I'm glad to see that they take better care of soldiers nowadays. I was a good soldier but I didn't re enlist mainly because of the living conditions of lower enlisted single soldiers at the time.
Same for me. Stationed at Illesheim from 87-89. Had the same set up, at one point we had 3 soldiers in my room. One washer and dryer for our platoon. Didn’t know any better so it was ok
I was there! 2011-2014 but I was in the old fires barracks I believe bldg 681 room 375... not so sure because it’s been a long time. It’s the one near the basketball gym. Whoever is in my room now hope you like it coz Archiezzle was there lol
Good to see my youngest soldier in one of your videos seeing that he’s thousands of miles away. I’m very proud of both of you. I love 💕 you guys! Love Momma Bear!
Mine is heading to Vilseck next week. Proud, but we are all gonna miss that guy a lot! I too am known to mine as "Momma Bear"! Lol (PS. Your young men's videos are helpful, takes some of the unknowns away!)
J Roberts Aawwww! I even had my football jersey which read “Baby Bear’s Mom” when my son played football. The fans got a kick out of it. My son loves it in Vilseck. I’m sure yours will too. My son has sent me a lot of beautiful pictures and they are breathtaking! Your son will be okay. Prayers going your way!
I’ve seen a lot of these barracks videos. Y’all got it pretty sweet. I went into the army in 1973 and went to Germany at the end of 74. In the states and Germany it was 4 guys in one big room. Couldn’t cook in your room didn’t even have one in the day room. No fridge and two latrines to each floor. Got it easy livin’ nowadays!
When I was stationed in Vilseck (89-91) the actual rooms were a bit bigger, but held two people. No kitchen area except for a tiny hotel fridge for beer/soda. In fact no storing food was allowed in the rooms themselves. There was a microwave in the company dayroom downstairs. The wood furniture seems about the same tho. Interesting. As for air conditioning... we never had/nor needed it, just a radiator.
Cool video, it took me back... Funny seeing the EXACT SAME furniture and appliances w/ yellow stickers as I did almost 2 decades ago! If it ain't broke...
Damn, not the Army I knew... We lived in triple story old German barracks... Hot in the summers, cold in the winters.... You young bucks have it made now, no wonder you want to stay it... Haha US Army Darmstadt, Germany "74-76... 63H20 94th Combat Engineers..
so I was 19D and was one of the first ones there in brand new barracks back in 1987. We were right across the street from the chow hall and our rooms didnt look that nice. You walked in your door and to the right was your restroom then you walked past that and it was your room with 2 people in it and that was it. no microwave no cooking hell you guys have it made.
@@cameroncastleman6496 I'm about to sign a contract for 19d and we get to chose are stations with the option 19 contract. I've thought about Germany, would you have any advice or direction on what to do or wjat not?
If y'all want my snap chat and insta are joseph_alva you can ask me questions and ill try to answer them in a timely manner but where im at i train a lot
I was in schweinfurt. We didn’t have that little kitchen area. No stove, no sink to wash dishes. None of that. We didn’t have that at Knox either. Our rooms were about the same size, but with 2 people. Things seem to have changed a bit. Loved Germany though! Miss Germany often!
Do you need your own dishes and cutlery? How do you move up in the levels, what about college? Can you take college classses while in the service? Is that logical?
Where is the barracks in relationship go your unit? When I was in the Army your barracks was at the unit. My room was down the hall from the platoon CP and downstairs was the company hq. Everyone lived in the Bn area except married and officers. Is it the same way?
LOL wow what a room you should have seen what it was like in 1982 when I was stationed in schwabach Germany 2/59ADA 4 guys to a room 4 lockers 4 walls and a window + 20 to 30 guys share the same bathroom
I left dec15 2017. Same troop N. An I was rm 224 lol this was pretty cool. I was showing others an didint think I would find a video let alone the room next door😅
I know stateside barracks rooms are better BUT compared to what we had in the 80's this is a hotel room to me. The best rooms i ever had were 2 man rooms with a wall locker/2 drawer night stand and one simple desk. Nothing else. Bathrooms were down the hall for the entire floor to use. BUT stateside units had A CABLE OUTLET WOW!!!!
I went as a 11 Bravo are barracks was totally different they had about eight guys in one room. Stitching in Schweinfurt Germany 77 to 80 totally different👍🏼🤠🇺🇸
@@jonw1958 when I got there I think there were about 4 and we're getting out. That was a long time ago I still remember. Just getting by it was all right👍🏼🇺🇸
Lived in 618, 400, and 401. 10 to 12, saber squadron son. None that pog mule foreskinner. You didn't show the beer in ur fridge you are wrong. Haha naw. Good video man, have a doner for me.
This video helps a lot cuz I've just been told I'm heading there right after I'm done with AIT hopefully I find good battlebuddies 🤞 so far the barracks there look 10x better where I'm at now 🤣
"Germans don't believe in AC" - Untill very recently the summers In Germany were short and not that hot. Due to climate change and global warming that is changing. It was way more important to have your home insulated with decent heating.
19D heading to Vilseck in a week. Can you give advice on best cell phone service/plan to stay connected with all in the US? Info on where to go for service set up and motem greatly appreciated. Also, tips on shipping and keeping auto there. Thanks!
Be sure to Subscribe & Comment down below where you would like to be stationed! 💯🎉
Ben Allen hey man, do you know anything about 68D? Im shipping out next year, would love to hear what you know about 68D. Thanks!

I was an Army brat in the 1950s and 60s in Germany and these barracks are a paradise compared to what I saw then.
I was in Vilseck in the early 2000's, they were much worse lol
You forgot to show the drawer where you kept your single sock with mystery goo inside
Dog Face lol 😂
This is old. Camp Humphreys, Korea is very modernized.

I believe it was 618 when I served with you in fires. It looks like I will be going back to work as a government employee as an I.T Specialist.
A big change from two man with two bunk beds and two wall locker rooms to this WOW!!!!

Are you really in the Army Barracks or is this a Holiday Inn? Where's housekeeping?
That idea with the twine wrapped around the door handle is genius 😮🤯🤯🙏🏻

Looks like a slight upgrade since I was there 20 years ago...we had no personal kitchens

Shit hopefully, I will get stationed there. I was stationed in South Korea Camp Humphrey and it was like a 5 star barracks man, brand new and big.
Their houses are built out of cinderblocks not wood. The houses stay cool without an ac. This needs to be done there, too.

I would love to hear your brother opinion on the Cavalry! :D
My room was just a room with 4 bunks and 4 wall lockers. WOW.
Damn lol
Yeah we had 4 beds and 4 wall lockers too. The bathroom and showers were down the hall for the whole damn company! It sucked!
Tell your brother he should start a channel as well.
Yo I feel like this guy is just complaining about a nice room. This is coming from a Marine who’s never had a kitchen or a room to themselves

J Roberts T-Mobile is over hear as well but its all on your service preference and shipping can be strict tbh
This might be hard to swing, but I'd love to see any middle of nowhere barracks that aren't in Iraqistan. Like Guam, Dodge, etc.
I was stationed in Vilseck back in 07. Ico 3/2
Not too bad!
what does you job entail when you are not deployed and what do you do while you are deployed. grunt life:)
Matt Theman it basically depends on the unit and the mission.
Ben Allen all this talking about the army make you want to re-up?
Hunter Whitley not active duty lol I’m going into the Reserves though!
I hear that I do same MOS ? btw damn you reply fast fuck yeah Ben Allen
Are you allowed to bring back a German woman to the barracks for private time? Or is that against the rules?

I wanna see Stuttgart, Ft Carson, & JBER Alaska
I was at Fort Carson (1/8 Inf) back in 1982. We had a three man room with our own bathroom as well. No cooking area.
I just left Carson 1 man room, shared common area, mini fridge, no cooking area. This was 1st BDE tho. 3rd has stoves and full size fridges
Im going there tomorrow
This is an American barracks room in Germany, not a German barracks.
Scouts out!
Are you still in the army
