I would have thought 82nd airborne would be much more regimented with the duties. I was in an army medical unit. I was required to have CQ, duty driver and barracks maintenance on a regular scheduled basis. You really lucked out for sure.
I wanted to serve in the Army for the past 5 years. RAIDER commander in JROTC, high ASVAB, perfect PT score. Was going to be a Cav. Scout but I was just permanently medically disqualified for a peanut allergy. I’d honestly do anything to be able to serve. But regardless of all that, I’d like to thank you for all the helpful and useful information you have provided me with through your videos the past few years, even if I never get to apply it. Keep doing what you’re doing, the videos you make help so many people prep for BCT and more.
Go to an allergist and do a food challenge. if you can eat peanuts without having to use an epi pen, you can get a waiver. but the reason you’re barred is because you might be in a situation where the only food source you have is something you’re allergic to.
Resonant Reads thanks for the suggestion. But I fully know the situation I’m in. I went to my allergist and had my test done and was still allergic to peanuts (not peanut oil though which is what they cook with at BCT) I could still apply for my waiver being that peanut oil is a bigger concern but it’s HIGHLY likely of getting declined.
Rex Cristallo Spada CT- 3981 don’t give up, I know soldiers who have fought for years to get the waivers required to enlist. if you wanna join there’s probably a way
I’m late to the party because TH-cam recommended this video today. In 2012, when I was a Bn XO in an AIT unit, we talked about the Army changing the open bay barracks to a two man “college” dorm room, and renovations began. The Drill Sergeants were replaced with Cadre who basically acted like a squad leader/platoon sergeant to prepare the AIT recruits for their permanent duty station. When I was enlisted, AIT barracks were opened bay with your entire platoon; and the Drill Sergeants stayed nearby in rotation. My permanent duty stations were all 3 man rooms with your locker, bunk, desk, and one bathroom. Boy!!! Times have changed, and Soldiers are really spoiled. I know my grandfathers had a rougher time in the Army than me; so that’s the trend. The Army gets more relaxed every generation. Soon, we’ll be like the French Army.
I was at Bragg in the early 90’s. Sure we had a CQ but……it was a party on the weekends and it was nothing to walk in the open bay showers and shower on Saturday and Sunday mornings with an odd collection of college girls from Raleigh and strippers. 😂
I’m going to fort Bragg I’m looking to be airborne when I get there I just wanted to know what unit do you think I’m gonna get assigned to because I feel like the 82nd is airborne exclusive only. Im a PFC and I’m a 91b without airborne
Your videos are really helping me get ready to leave for BCT. The RASP video had me rethinking my decision about it though. Can’t wait for more videos!!
I found your page, assumed you were Active but recently found out you were a Reservist. I do appreciate the fact that you don't claim to know about Army lifestyle but act more as an interviewer in this video. I believe that no amount of researching or asking friends will ever give someone the experience or credibility to talk about Active Duty lifestyle if they have never lived it personally.
Born and raised on Bragg in the 80's. Dad was 82nd. We lived in Bougainville now renamed. Fatal vision duplex nearby, MP's always yelling at us to stop peeking into the murder house.
I leave for army basic on October 6th. I’ve been watching a lot of your videos to inform me and motivate me. This is probably gonna be the hardest thing I’ve done in my life. I hope I make it.
82nd ABN, 1BCT 1-504 PIR soldier here. Good luck to you, it's not easy being airborne. Those barracks are really nice, I assume you live down the hill? Our barracks are so bad.
Hey Matt you should come to dc and let’s do an interview about Joint Base Myer- Henderson Hall! Tell the new people what it’s like to be an infantryman in the oldest US Infantry Regiment!
I probably ran across your brother at some point, if he ever needed to get immunizations or blood draws done, I most likely was one of the medics who did it🤘🏻
My recruiter said the day before don’t even think about Firefighter it never comes up and the next day I had it available . I think I used up my luck for the next 10 years lol they told me even an hour later and it would have been taken
I wonder how different things are now due to covid. I'm in ait and will go to airborne school in fort benning and then Fort Bragg 82nd. So I'm curious to know what it's like now.
Actually you're wrong. You must be at the sorry ass 1st Brigade Barracks, These specific barracks are mostly alll 3rd Brigade, I think 2nd Brigade probably has the best setup when it comes to rooming. 3rd's are pretty nice too. But those shared Barracks are an anomaly, haha poor dudes.

I hope you will be ok

Dude. How the hell did I find you here????
LEGGGGGGGG
Those rooms are awesome compared to our barracks we had!!! I would almost enlist just for that apartment!!!
Yes I remember two man room that we had while I was at Bragg. No Kitchen, and community bathroom.
Prayers for safety for him if he's getting deployed to middle East this week

Hey, in station in fort Bragg as well... 82nd CAB!!!
Geez you guys don't know how good you have it, back in the day was nothing like this!! NOTHING!
We had two beds and two lockers, that was about it.
I leave for army basic on October 6th. I’ve been watching a lot of your videos to inform me and motivate me. This is probably gonna be the hardest thing I’ve done in my life. I hope I make it.
Cobra Gaming it’s the easiest thing you’ll do well you’re already at reception so you won’t even see this.
You make it?

Can’t wait I leave OCT 15th to become an active duty Army Firefighter
Darrin you got lucky ? I was trying to go as 12M too but I’ve always heard there’s a super low chance people get it
Yeah I enlisted in April and there was only 3 slots in the entire Army including my slot when I signed
My recruiter said the day before don’t even think about Firefighter it never comes up and the next day I had it available . I think I used up my luck for the next 10 years lol they told me even an hour later and it would have been taken
Darrin damn well I hope you enjoy it bro ! Good luck on everything

This was very informative

if i feel like school isn’t for me should i consider going to the army? i have little knowledge about the army tho lol.

Do sgts have their own room? As in no roommates. For Marines that's how it works, just wondering how different it is in the army for ncos
Very similar to the ADA barracks at Bragg.
Shipping to fort Benign next month on the 25 !!
You're gonna be on the DA 6 now! You jinxed yourself bro
I wonder how different things are now due to covid. I'm in ait and will go to airborne school in fort benning and then Fort Bragg 82nd. So I'm curious to know what it's like now.

3 BCT Barracks aren't too bad
MP barracks are pretty nice at least here in Germany 😁
Kinda jealous, in British Barracks we have to share a kitchen with like 6-7 other people.
Im in the us army and out of 3 buildings with 96 each. We get a center building with one small kitchen. Kind of unfair
What's life like for an infantryman in the 82nd? Is it toxic?
