Approved Food is utterly fabulous. I was sceptical at first, but silly me: this food ROCKS! It's perfect, delicious, moreish! I am a convert. Now I only go to the supermarket for milk, bread and my vegetarian deli foods. Strongly recommended.

Why do people get so freaked out when he tells them they are past the best before? Brainwashed into thinking something has to be chucked away just because the packaging tells them to. Love approved food, brilliant website.

Approved Food is excellent! I mostly buy cat food for our three and for a local charity here in Thanet, as well as drinks and store cupboard essentials, and since May last year have saved over £321 on regular prices. It works for me and I applaud the ethos too. We could all do more to tackle food waste and our wallets will thank us for it.

Breaks my heart to see perfectly good food being selected from the shelves to be chucked out into a waste skip.

great concept, but 'some' types of food do deteriorate significantly past their best by date.. others don't at all ! great way to save from throwing the items away..

    Fantastic company, fantastic prices.
I've always lived by the principle that if it's been stored in an air-tight wrapping, and kept in a cool dark place, then it'll be safe to consume, obviously dairy, bread, etc is a bit different.

This is absolute bs. Most of their food items are over a year old, some even nearly two years, and virtually every chocolate I purchased was covered in white chocolate mould plus Approved Food are a nightmare to deal with when they need to refund you. When I used to shop with them there were also constant problems with delivery - either damaged items arriving or non-delivery. Look at their online feedback as was not the only one

A blooming genius business model. The only issue is if thousands or millions of companies did this then all the normal prices would take a hit, meaning the economy takes a hit (lower tax take). But maybe there's a way of having both exist without impacting the other.

so funny i have best before dates right little cake bar things for 22 june. i offered them to a friend oh no she said cant eat them will get sick, really you serious. i am eating them and they are just as nice as the ones in date i have. its only a guide. what a waste of food and its usually things like biscuits and cakes etc, cereals, speghetti etc. what a lot of food wasters we are truly. I have bought best before in markets which are out of date lol, dirt cheap and they are as nice as the ones in date. I bought some cake bars of a supermarket last week WELL IN DATE and they arrived and when i picked the packet up the bars were rock solid, so i sent them back. THESE WERE WELL in date.

    Ahh very nice.
They 1 hour out of date, and my Dog pissed on the packet.
    Ohh Nooooo 😀
Most of public are so pretentious, when we have people dying of starvation.
    But what do they care?

@ PL585 Foods lose's its energy value over time? Ludicrous ..... it would be an easy way to lose weight, just eat old food. I'll agree some nutrients could decay but sadly not calories.
I use AF a lot, they are a brilliant company.

Getting 50% off TESCO prices (if you are lucky) for food that is well past its' best by date is NOT a good deal. It may be edible, but the taste or quality deteriorates. That is the whole purpose of having a "Best by Date". AP have become very greedy with their pricing. I used to buy here, not anymore. You may as well wait for supermarket Half Price, or BOGOF deals. Or just shop at B&M, Home Bargains or similar. At least then you are paying the same price as AP, but with a best by date months or years away.
And before anyone comments, yes, I know the difference between "use by" and "best by". You try eating anything from AP that is 6 or 9 months past its' best by date and tell me the taste hasn't deteriorated.
