I would actually love to watch a video of you watching a movie and writing down all the plot points and what your brain is thinking when you take this info down 😅 I love that idea. I might do that for another project in the future.
I second everything on POTC! I watched it again last summer and my reaction was the same! Like wow, it really is a banger of a screenplay! It was so fun looking at it through a structure lens.
New subscriber here! ♡ You're so bubbly and I'm glad that you're in a chirpier mood than your recent sit-down video ❤ I've got 3 scenes left in my WIP, so hoping to finish that next week (after starting in 2022 lol) 😂
I was wondering if anyone had shouted me out today - I had been going through a subscriber deficit (lost like 9 in two days for whatever reason, pride or Palestine or whichever issue people have) and suddenly it was spiking. Thank you so so much for your kind words!!! This video was so lovely, I love how bubbly and warm you are in your happiness! Also that dragon is ADORABLE and I need one 👀 I appreciate you!!!!!! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
Also you talking about my book is lowkey making me cry 🥹🥹🥹 I’m so glad you enjoyed my book!! Also hello hi yes I’m here I am watching AND I WANNA BE YOUR FRIEND TOO it’s done it’s set in stone we’re friends
Jen!!!! Yes!!! WE ARE FRIENDS!!! Success! Dreams do come true lol omg first of all your book is so good. like, omg ❤️ I actually??? cherish it?? So much??? And I’m starting A Little Luck this week! I’m farting around with my own little dnd project and let’s just say Della and Neema are giving what I need! and the fact SAGE is getting her own books?? that cutie pie is getting herself in danger?! I’m not ready! so all that is to say if you ever need an extra beta in the future…👀 JUST SAYING. 😂 Second, gah I hope people aren’t leaving for any of those reasons. I know TH-cam sometimes does a cull of inactive accounts/subscribers, so maybe that was it? either way, you are welcome here ❤️🏳️🌈🍉
@@LindsayPuckett babes I’m definitely going to take you up on the future beta reads lol Ahhh you may be right, could’ve been a cull! I didn’t do anything specific in any recent videos so I couldn’t pinpoint it. Hopefully that was it 🤣🤣 🩷🩷🩷
Love this! Congratulations on finishing Draft 2 of BITTER BONES as well! I don’t think my April and May were as productive as I’d want them to be! But June was better! Oh, I graduated with my PhD in May! I guess that’s a big deal! 😂 One of my besties also got me my first Squishmallow as a graduation gift! I’ll DM you a pic! It’s a Wolfie! 🥰 Happy Anniversary! 🥳 Love finding my book in bookstores! Especially my favorite indie! If I find yours, I’ll send you a pic, but I haven’t gone to the children’s/MG section while there. I have a TV rec for you! Dead Boy Detectives on Netflix! 🥰
I love Jenn too! I've been needing to read her books! I agree that she is yellow, maybe like a sunflower yellow. Have you read "Can't Spell Treason Without Tea" (queer cozy fantasy) yet? I just finished "Gwen and Art are Not in Love" (queer honestly cozy historical fiction with Arthurian influences) yesterday and it was adorable!!! I have been in a deep recovery place since my last final for the year. I am starting to get my creativity back and my joy of reading.
I *love* looking at other stories for plot support. There’s so much to glean from stories that have already been tested against an audience and are solidly done.
Girl that ending threw me into the past so fast! For cozy fantasies, I'm currently in love with Olivia Atwater's Half a Soul, going to read Ten Thousand Stitches next. Pirates, the first three, were way too good for silly pirate movies - Barbosa, what an amazing villain/anti-hero. We can be dnd friends! I've already binged Vox Machina and I'm so excited for the Mighty Nein animated show. I've been following the Bell Hells campaign off and on, as Dimension20 has a strong hold on my soul. If you ever wanted to do a video on how you recognize the beats in movies, I'd be totally down to watch that and learn! (Also the adorable purple dragon on your shoulder is so cuuute!!
LOOOL I felt the same honestly the moment it came out of my mouth XD I can't wait to read half a soul!!! Yes the first 3 pirates were a masterclass in story craft! Omg i actually talk exactly about this in my outlining videos! In the My Process playlist! (I think specifically in "How I'm outlinging my Middle Grade" video??)
I love T Kingfisher so much. She is one of my keeper/autobuy authors. I write fantasy and when I read T Kingfisher, she is what I aspire to be like as a writer. ❤
@@LindsayPuckett That is one of my favorites--#1 and #4 and then I really love Swordheart and the Clocktaur Wars duology is also really great. Luckily she has a very full backlist!
a) I thought the dragon on your shoulder was a flower attached to your top for half the video and was thinking how nice it looked! b) I would watch a breakdown of the PotC plot. c) your mug. Re: books. I blew through Gargantis, the second in the Eerie on the Sea series, and would definitely recommend. It's not exactly cosy, but it was VIBES (and talking cats). I've had a streak of pretty poor books and this was a welcome breath of fresh (and good writing) air haha Writing... well, I've started working on my second draft again, so that counts, right?
Yes, a POTC and DnD fan as well - (Watching seasons 2 and 3 of Critical Role atm based on mood)!! I hope things are going well for you, and I can't wait for the next chat/update ☺
I LOVE that you've gotten so into DND! I haven't played Baudler's Gate, but it has Matt Mercer in it! Love Vox Machina and can't wait for the next season! I just got Tiny Tina's Wonderlands (it has Ashly Burch who's periodically on CR!!), which is also very DND-esque and lots of fun. Also, I love your mug!
I DIDN'T KNOW MAT MERCER WAS IN IT! omg I looked it up and also! Lucius Malfoy is in it?! lol love this omg thanks for the rec I will check that one out next!
Okay, Lindsay, I -need- you to listen to Worlds Beyond Measure. It's also a DnD actual play with Brennan Lee Mulligan, Aabria Iyengar, Erika Ishi, and Lou Wilson and it is the MOST wholesome MOST whimsical (but like a little horror and spooky) and I just adore them. And that's what I've been listening to this month, and after everything you've described in this video, I think you'll absolutely eat it up like I have been! xo
LOL if only haha ooh and my favorite is The Key to the Extraordinary, but I think her best known work is A Snicker of Magic, so I would probably recommend starting there!
Omgosh I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your energy!! Followed Jenn’s channel via your recommendation and can’t wait to get to know you both more through your writing and videos 🙌🏻 *squishy hugs*
I started watching Jen because we were both published in the Stygian Collection and I think I'll move her book up on my TBR since you raved about it!! I need some cozy vibes! I haven't started critical role because i know I'll be obsessed 😂 It sounds like this past month was a little better for you and I'm so happy you're getting close to the end! 🎊
omg yes I saw where you follow her on insta and that's when I put the dots together! haha Bree. BREE. you need to watch CR season 2! like NEED. Knowing you, trust me. And thank you! I'm glad to be close to the end too!
I completely agree about POTC! It is one of my all time favorite movies to this day! We would definitely have been friends as teens! 😆 One of the things I was impressed by the last time I watched it was how each paring of the trio has at least one scene together in the earlier part of the movie so that by the time the story really kicks off, you’ve already seen them all together and know their dynamics! It’s so impressive! I think you’d find a lot of interest in that essay! 😂❤️
So glad you're feeling better! But from one fellow nerdy writer to another, please let me welcome you to the world of TTRPG and being a Critter. Critical Role has inspired me so much to write fantasy, it's made me feel confident to go out there and tell stories however I want to tell them. I'm so glad you're having such a good time with it!
Cincy? Are you in Ohio or Kentucky? I’m up here in the NE portion, and I used to make trips down to Cincy for Jungle Jim’s, Newport Aquarium, and comic cons so often.
Your videos give me life. Thanks for posting. I finished up the latest draft in May and re-entered the query trenches in the past two weeks or so. I have such a good feeling that this is the right timing and the right book. Fingers crossed. I’ve started reading The Clackity (MG) and The Church Beneath the Roots (Adult). Went back to Toronto, then to a horror author convention. Got a brain blast for my next middle grade horror and have been brainstorming. I should make a wrap up video…
I'm right up there with you having watched Pirates of the Caribbean way too many times. If you ever actually do a video essay on it, I would watch the hell out of it. And I'm also in the process of getting into DnD. The good thing about having a lot of siblings is that I get to force them to try DnD with me. (also, I've just recently started watching your channel and have spent the last week binging your videos) (now excuse me; I need to go watch Pirates of the Caribbean again)
I'm not a huge cozy fantasy reader, but I did recently read Miss Percy's Pocket Guide to the Raising and Feeding of British Dragons (hope I got that right LOL) by Quenby Olson, and I enjoyed it!
Omg I was in exact same mood before : baldurs gate and critical role. It is good especially when I work my fantasy❤ but I go in stages when I am super into it
