So there isn't an actual separation of lower and upper MG in the bookstores or anything here, it's just more of a feeling/maturity level you get when reading. I feel like lower MG is for 7+ year olds, while upper MG is for like 11-12 year olds? We suffer with not having lower YA here either. It sucks!

You shouldn’t be scared of films. Always remember it’s somebody like you with their pen writing the stories. I’ve got seven books published but I’m very excited to be getting my first YA novel published this year. It took me years and years to write.

So excited for this!!! Congrats!! An upper middle grade transitional story sounds sorely needed let alone w all the themes that you’re touching on. And I’ve heard from some librarians lately that they are starved for that little bit older boy MC books that aren’t fantasy or sci-fi so again it sounds like the book we not only want but need!

Editors, librarians, and teachers. They're all asking for the same thing. Lower word count. Like no more than 40k. And more books for 13-15 year olds.
I'm glad yours will be published in paperback!! They all need to be released in paperback. Hardback prices are ridiculous.
