I just have to say, I stopped here for the first time when I was 14 about a year ago. Me and Dan got to talking about vintage guitars and Dan let me plug this one in for a bit. It’s truly such an incredible guitar and it means so much I had the chance to play it.
I’d be nervous just leaving it on my lap😟 Great sentiment. Giving is far better than receiving. Helping musicians helps everyone. They create something we all need. Anyone who says the arts are valueless doesn’t understand humanity. In the end no matter what guitar it is it’s still just a tool to channel creativity. Cheers to you👍❤️
I had the opportunity to check out some bursts and some 50s goldtops. Not all of them were great. But man, there was this '58 and she was GORGEOUS. I got goosebumps, she sounded so amazing.
He said, the ‘59 was in their back yard, 20 miles away. If you are hunting for guitars, car(s) or any other vintage collectible, the best stuff is usually right under your nose.
So, What happens with that 59? I can’t play a lick but that sure gets my attention. Is the guitar for sale? If I buy it will someone teach me to play? Dream do come true 😊
Take a coveted, iconic object and turn it into something better by giving back to the community? That's how you do it! Fantastic. Oh, and the guitar is pretty neat, too.
Just to add a little diversity to this video. I've heard plenty of high-profile players that I trust say that there are many 58 and 59s that don't sound so good or play well. There weren't all 10s
@themusicemporium1177 And every lot of wood, every batch of electronics, every winding of humbuckers, every cast of tuners, etc. If the setup was the drawback, it would not be a problem. Plenty of qualified luthiers out there.
I’ve bought several guitars @ TME. I grew up 20 miles south of the shop. I wish I knew where it was! Cheers! Someone should call Joe Bonamassa. He’d be a buyer and he’d play it.
Here's a quick list (and this barely scratches the surface): guitarsexchange.com/en/unplugged/780/the-sound-of-the-59-les-paul-through-10-mythical-songs/
Whole lotta love was recorded in London mid-April 69, just before they left for their 2nd U.S. tour. He bought the LP in late April while on the 2nd U.S. tour.
Jimmy Page recorded Whole Lotta Love using his dragon telecaster NOT his Les Paul . Famous 59 Les Paul players for definite , Paul Kossoff ( Free ) , Peter Green ( Fleetwood Mac ) , Eric Clapton ( Bluesbreakers ) , just to name a few 👍
A custom shop plays and sounds the same for £250K less. A lot of hysterical hype about these…nice if you have had one in the wardrobe for 60 years, and now going to sell it, but that about it really. And that’s coming from somebody who’s had plenty of vintage guitars in the last 40 years.
You're not necessarily buying something that plays OR sounds nice though. You're buying a legitimate piece of American history. It's an artifact that goes beyond its playability
@@yrmthr I understand that. I really do. I suppose It’s the equivalent of me living in my house which is 200 years old, as opposed to living in a new bells and whistles all encompassing heat efficient new build. But in all honesty, I know which one is probably better to live in…depends on how dewy eyed you get over history, reflected on how deep your pockets are.
$450,000.00 for a 59 burst that has not been owned by any noteworthy guitarist or played on any known recordings ??? I get the rarity of a burst and the scarcity of the few that come up for sale, but even the bursts have a hierarchy. The top tier being those that are on recordings and have been owned and played by artists. Those fetch the highest prices. Next are the unmolested gems that look like they sat in a time capsule. Lastly are those ,like the one in this vid, that have no noteworthy provenance and are molested or beat up.
4:20.....seriously it's not about selling the guitar? Somehow every player gets kissed on the * when it changes hands? Stop the marketing fluff the consultant told you to say.....the seller wants X, you sell it for X+20%......and the world is a better place? FFS
We own this guitar outright -- we are not selling it for another owner. No consultants were hired in the production process for this video. And yes, we do think money donated to a non-profit organization that gives grants to working musicians makes the world a better place. Your mileage may vary. Thanks for watching!
Understood, hey ultimately we all aspire to own a ‘59 burst. Once sold please post commission to us all ($60,000?) and donation to the fund ($600?)’…. 🙏 God bless
Just think if they had sold in the 60's for what they do now the musicians who made the music couldn't have gotten them and they wouldn't be worth what they are now. Shame the today's musicians who are like the ones who made them what they are will probably never have one.
I'm a history buff and appreciate vintage gear. But, there is no way that a '59 Burst can't be replicated today. The design is not that complicated. I have personally never played a '59 Burst, but a guitar tech I know has played one. He said he was disappointed. He said modern guitars are just designed better. I think a lot of this adoration for old guitars is just hype.
Somewhat like saying a 1937 Martin D-18 can't be replicated today. As always, your mileage may vary, but there's an undeniably different sound, feel, and responsiveness that one gets from a great vintage guitar -- and no one's cracked that code yet.

My kind of music store owner. Respect to you.
Thanks for that comment!

Well done & killer guitar. Best of Luck!
My favorite shop.
It’s great that you’re donating some of the proceeds! Just another reason having TME in our community makes us all lucky musicians.

Man...seriously, you guys at TME are the best!! Great video and love the burst as well. Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed it!
What a great tone!
Gotta get into this place someday.
What's up with the strap button on the upper bout?
Looks like a strap lock.
Wow it sounds awesome; identical to my vintage v100 in fact
I got a 2010 vintage LP v100. And a 2009. Very comparable to the Gibson tone . Especially if you had the right pickups , and vintage correct hardware.

Came to hear the guitar, stayed waiting to hear the guitar

Worth too much for me to enjoy.
I know what you mean, but you'd get an insurance policy and not have to worry about it.

Sounds like my Edwards LTS Les Paul , and I didn't have to sell any of my children to own it 👍
Love to own one, but sadly never will. These stories never change, but prices do. I wonder who's responsible for that. Happy selling..

Setup definitely has a lot to do with it. A '59 LP with a bad setup probably wouldn't be very inspiring :)

This……. This is what it’s supposed to be about. Perhaps I found where I belong.

Mark Knopfler will sell a 1959 Les Paul at the Christie’s soon😃

Please no😮
Joe was in the shop, played it, and loved it. He hasn't bought it -- yet.
Only 648 manufactured, suggested retail price in 1959, $307.50. Helluva good investment!
what really famous song was recorded with 59 LP other than whole lotta love?

They are asking for 450, 000 dollars for this guitar ....
Very, very, collectible. How much they asking for it?
It's priced at $450,000.00.
@@themusicemporiumboston not surprised... very, very collectible guitar. Thank you for replying.

That guitar sounds just like my chibson but my chib is a tad better.
HAHA!
i got this same guitar on AliExpress for $249
Score!
And it's probably new, not used.
Dang!! 👍😃
I've got a greco eg 59-100 with two dry z's that would give that gibson a run for its money.
Love to hear it!
