Chibsons are great if you know how to work on guitars. They come stock pretty rough but once you dress up the frets and replace the hardware and electronics, you can have a very affordable and great playing guitar.
I took one of my Chibsons to a local guitar shop and it was comparable to a Tokai ls75 selling for over 1000 euros ! I have an old Greco les paul that was comparable to a Maybach les paul he had in stock. Grecos in another dimension !

When you drilled your hole with that huge drill bit that you used it does not start in the center just because there is a hole there your whole will move or travel depending on where the drill bit B into the wood properly drill that hole you would use a wood rasp which would stay in the center of your existing tuner hole that would account for your tuners being misaligned by fractions of inches
A drill bit used as a reamer 'always' cuts off centre that's why you use a hand reamer instead, or you could just blame the manufacturer for crap hole alignment, I guess that works too.
Cool upgrade,you can only get cream demozzio pickups they have a patent on the cream color humbuckers,they sound awesome,and those are some beefy tuners.
Where'd ya get it? That's a pretty finish! Is that a one piece neck? Or is there a scarf joint? Seemingly, kinda proof that even seven years ago, they weren't looking all that bad! Yeah, you have to update the pickups etc. but often times, you'll do that anyway.

One time I drilled the tuner holes on a Mex made Start. The drill bit dug in bound up and cracked the headstock. I now Use a Rat Tail file mounted in a cordless drill to drill the tuner post holes. No worries of the file grabbing and cracking the wood, no worries of it chipping the finish either. They make the perfect size rat tail file to make the proper standard american size hole for this. I don't recall what that that size is, sorry. Just go slow and easy!
I think when the Chinese maker drilled the holes for the studs, they didn’t compensate for the arch top of a Les Paul and the bridge sits on an angle, making the strings touch the intonation screws. I also wanted to mention that the truss rods in these Chibsons “do not work”, they are welded inside at the heel of the neck, so getting neck relief is not possible. They will turn a bit but if you keep going, it will lift your fingerboard. I watched a video of a guy that couldn’t adjust his truss rod and the guitar was playing terrible, the luthier determined that it was not working and the guitar was junk, so the ripped it apart and he shows you that it is welded at the heel and non-adjustable. I just found this out and wasted a whole bunch of money upgrading the parts on mine. Cheers
Have you seen this with multiple Chibsons? I've been able to adjust mine but very slightly because it didn't need much tension. It is very tough to adjust though. I guess maybe some are because I didn't know they were welded or not usable. Make sense a bit now when I think how much hand grip strength I had to apply to adjust one. But I took both to a tech and he was able to get the action where I wanted.
Probably a bit more highs and more sustain. At least that is what I noticed after putting Faber bridges on Epiphones (and the Maybach that I had). I've done that 3 times now, with every time the same result.
I bought a hand made electric that I was extremely pleased with on ebay by the maker about 7 years ago. Exotic woods...Even the back cover plates and Truss cover plate are all wood. The pickups and tone control cavities were cut out, but I had a Guitar Center Tech, who wasn't a kid, install Seth Lovers, a stop tail, and some beautiful Delta Series Gold and Black tuners. I had an old harness I bought on ebay, and was lucky the pots worked for my jazz style playing on this solid body. However, when the guy was done, I found that he didn't bolt the stop tail bolts on at a 90 degree angle. And neither was at the same angle as each other. The stop tail cammed forward toward the neck, which causes the strings that are coming back from around the stop tail toward to neck to not sit as tight as they should in the grooves of the stop tail. I noticed this, and he started telling me about the week he had..his ex wife committed suicide, and well, I walked out with it. Everything else was done well. Later I had it pleked, and for a couple of years, playable. Well, now I want to pull the stop tail out, fill the holes, and put in a new and better stop tail. So, my question is, how reliable will those filled areas be in supporting a new stop tail? Man, I even wanted to make a custom two tone triangular shaped bakelite toggle switch for this...Thanks...

I love how the binding goes over the sides of the plastic nut! I have made Les Paul replicas with neck through multi-laminated necks and with tight ringed wood that really sings with 2000-year-old tops that are AWESOME! Granted, they were expensive but sounded fricken amazing. However, I would NEVER put someone else's name on my guitars. I am too proud of my creation! They say SOLO in mother of pearl inlay and have unique 2-color M.O.P. trapezoid fret markers. I miss making them.

Why would you do something that could encourage the buying of counterfeit guitars? How about stamping FAKE on the headstock or removing the Gibson logo?
After all the upgrase it sounds like a Epiphone.... Absolutely not like a les paul standard. It is missing the acoustic side of te wood. But if you are happy with it, why not

The truss rods don’t work, useless for upgrading. They are welded in the heel.

The pearloid buttons look silly on a standard. Ace only had them on the 3 pickup customs.

I have to replace my tuners. On my chibson, what size did you drill the holes to? 1/4”? Mine came with the nice bridge not the screwdriver end.

Did the truss rod work and were you able to adjust the neck if needed? I’ve have one and the truss rod is really hard to turn.
I personally would have gone with a quality set of Kluson's then there would be no holes or dents to be seen.
You have to refret and fret level crown polish do the everything thing.
I didn’t have to drill mine out. My new Grover’s fit like a glove.

I put a better tremolo on my Greco strat and it made a difference to tone like it was more focused and stronger.
Never buy a used Gibson now. But honestly the neck binding and edge binding were 2 different colors. Still easy to spot.
