It's not quite in the face as Hazbin Hotel, but some are more short OR are in the background. Like Pilot has two songs: The jingle and Moxxie's song to Millie (Oh Millie). Episode 1 has three songs: You Will be Okay, Fuck you Dad and LooLoo Land. I think Vivziepop first didn't want to be Musical tv show like Hazbin Hotel, but changed a lot since season 2 began. I think there is lot more songs in season 2. Yet it has to be meaningful so a song is indeterminable. It's like a musical: songs should tell a story/insight when there cannot be explained with a dialog.
yeah, it's trying a little too hard in the pilot and first episode, but the tone changes drastically in episode 2, and gives you a much better feel for the show.
Some episodes you might need a box of tissues to dab away tears from emotional turmoil. You will come to love and be invested with some of the characters.
Unlike Charlie, these helborns are truly evil. The plot does not focus on the evil elements, so they may not be noticed(so much so that many consider some characters to be kind). It is usually in the background and you can guess them by comparing the facts. To be fair, the main theme here is racial and class stratification. Therefore, I think that it is logical that we think about kindness only in Hazbin, where this is the main theme
As stated in other comments, the pilot is not canon anymore. The main cast tends to be -slightly- less aggressive agaisnt each other and more importantly (minor spoilers for Stolas, the bird guy) ... ... ... ... ... ... I heard Stolas was planned to be a vilain (thus the dark commentary over climate change and people dying), but that was retconned and now he's just the best character of this show (that's an objective fact).

You will come to love, at least, most of the characters (maybe not all but most) It takes a while to settle in with itself. Helluva Boss started as a side project that Vivzie and team did while she shopped Hazbin around for proper backing. So, the first half season or so is very episodic and rough. Then, maybe unsurprisingly, they found out Helluva was gonna stick around for a bit and began to develop more story and character wise. Take this pilot with a bucket of salt. It's officially uncanonized (Hazbin pilot is a soft canon) from the actual series. Stolas, the bird boy, was supposed to be a villain but Viv loved the pair of him and Blitz too much.
Just fyi, Vivziepop encourages reactors to do full unedited reactions of her TH-cam content. Only the Hazbin Hotel episodes that are only on Prime are what you'd have to edit (except the pilot and the first episode both which are on Vivziepop's TH-cam channel as well). So the rest of Helluva Boss can be shown in full on your reaction. Cheers!
It is a lot, yeah. But, without spoiling, I CAN promise it offers deep story, great character development and awesome songs.

Yeah for me personally I probably have to say that Millie is my favorite character from Helluva Boss.
