    Excellent video. Thank you sir. I alwayseave my tarp attached to my ridge line when it's packed away. I'm amazed at how many bushcraft/ wild camper video's I watch where they attach and detach their tarp from the ridge line every time they put it up and take it down.

    I really like the Farrimond friction hitch Sandy. I will be giving that a go as its quicker than the taught line hitch. I use the Siberian "Evenk" hitch and the truckers hitch for my ridge line, I can get serious tension. The Farrimond friction hitch reminds me of a Prussic knot. Thanks for sharing.

    I just bought an encyclopedia of knots. Should have seen the looks I got, you would think I was a serial killer or something. lol. People really got curious. Some just came up to me and asked what I needed that for! How rude. lol. That was an excellent tip. I always roll it down and never put it back that way! I can't wait to try it.

    Great use of knots, don't know if it'll help but I keep my 'spare' line in a small bag from which I can pay out as needed, something with a small hole or draw string is perfect. Similar to a water rescue throw line. :)

    Nice Sandy i like it im going to have to try that , one question why do you hang your tarp under the ridge line instead of over it

    • @WiltshireMan
      @WiltshireMan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alan, I think it's better to hang the tarp beneath the ridge line as sometimes during heavy rainfall the water can run along the line and go under your tarp, also I don't like the ridge line rubbing on the tarp and possibly abrading it.

    try a truckers hitch instead of a taut line hitch for the ridgeline it lets you get it alot tighter

    • @WiltshireMan
      @WiltshireMan  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Ashy. I have tried it in the past but found it tended to wear the line over time. I can get the line plenty taught enough with the method I showed in this vid but thanks for the suggestion anyway.

    Hi, Sandy, how do you stop rain collecting on each side , ?

    • @LFH02
      @LFH02 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Angle the sides down to allow run off.

    • @WiltshireMan
      @WiltshireMan  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mostly use the tarp in woodland and you don't often get strong winds blowing rain beneath but on wild nights you just got to lower the tarp or orient it in such a way that the rain strikes the sides and not the end and also do what LFH02 says.

    Sandy,
    The first knot is also called Siberian hitch. The second knot in not the taut line hitch. Taut line hitch is adjustable. You can also use it for your guy-lines. No criticism. Keep up the good work. To set up the tarp you can use these two knots. No third knot required.
