These comparisons are distracting. After reading the Nigerian GDP surpassed South Africa. Both countries need to grow, and cater to the needs of their population. Giants imagery are not helping. ❤ South Africa ❤Nigeria
I am a South African born and bred and I don't have a passport to any country because what I get in S.A. is like being in any developed country in the world. I am planning to tour the whole of my beautiful country. I can't complain about anything. Lifestyle, housing, shopping, infrastructure, roads, hospitals and Malls are superb. I can't live anywhere except in my motherland. I can't even talk about business opportunities and I happened to grab one and it's selling like hot cakes. I agree with this Video 150% that South Africa is the first world country in a third world continent.
No lie S.A is the giant of Africa.. Have you seen south Africans flocking in Nigeria for better life? No! But you see Nigerians flocking S.A for better life, this says it all.
When you constantly hear stories of governmental corruption and crime in our country you often forget how amazing South Africa really is. Thank you for reminding me to be proud of my country❤❤🇿🇦🇿🇦
You should be. Come and live in Nigeria for a week in order to renew your love for my most respected, admired and lovable country of Africa-The Republic of South Africa. I love and respect South Africa more than I love my own country-Nigeria, and I have never even been in South Africa. Thanks for standing up against genocide against humanity on behalf of the Palestinians. The world is taking notice of your good deeds and your standing up against Western imperialists
Corruption is everywhere in the world. As we speak now Donald Trump is being charged for comiting corrupt activities during his tenure as an American President. What we see in S.A. is nothing compared to other countries.
Jaa,its true, its so heartbreaking when travelling around most of African country and seeing that they dont have what our country have.My prayer is all Africans work towards improving the whole of Africa. There is still a lot to be done even here in South Africa.
@@adisianyapascal568 Whites are living in squatter camps now and the number of Black millionaires is bigger than any country on the continent as according to stats. Another 30 years and the picture will look even better! Go and do research on how the great United States of America was in similar circumstances and came out of it. Do not write a country with resources like South Africa off because of birth pains that our democracy is going through. Cyril might be fucked up, weak and indecisive, but he has started South Africa on a slow trajectory to become the powerhouse that it's supposed to be on the continent. The next leaders will be kept in check by the constitution, the people and the path that this weakling has started us on! We are far from being a dying dog!
I admire your diplomacy and your attempt to diffuse what could be a potentially explosive situation on the internet. I had recognised a long time ago South Africa is unofficial "giant of Africa". Major International players when they look at Africa more often than not look reference South Africa.

It's only her citizens that work hardest and adapt in any situation, because difficulty of life has made them more tougher and confident then any other people in Africa.

It takes Courage, Strenth and Action to become a GIANT. It all starts with refusing to be ruled by foreigners to your Lands.. NIGERIA and GHANA declared Independece since 1959 and 1960.. Since then have charted their own destinies. Though not perfect, but have been building their countries and people by themselves.. Statistical figures dont lie, NIGERIA is the Supreme Giant of Africa, largest GDP, 1 out of 3 Africans is Nigerian. A country with so much people cant even be dared with. Nigerian influence is all over Africa, loudest, richest, even craziest people. West Africans are often the reason Westerners both love and hate Africans, still they know us.. This kind of video should be condemned and seen as a ploy by anti Africa/black forces trying to create unnecessary issues among brotherly African nations. What's the fascination with the title 'Giant of Africa' that this guys can't stomach. Nigeria Choose the title Giant of Africa long ago because it sees itself as such, the population size and economy isn't a lie, so also are the challenges and many issues. China was poor in the 60s/70s but was recognized as a world leader, Asian giant and added to the security Council of UN because you can ignore a country that represents 1:3 of human population because of its low level of success in development. No matter how poor they were then, they were regarded Asian giant. Nobody had issues with that. Mind you Singapore was categorized a fully developed countries in the 90s surpassing most other countries in Asia in all areas of development, this doesn't make it a giant ahead of india or China Most people call South Africa Africa's most Advanced Economy/Rainbow Nation, Most sophisticated country.. this is undisputed by everyone and accepted as titles for South Africa. These titles captures the level of development, success in most areas mentioned in this video. These different titles fits the 2 countries, there's no need for creating video challenging the title of these countries These two countries have strengths in areas the other may lack, it's all for the good of Africa if both of these countries co-op more, build understanding, work together in the necessary areas to uplift Africa, not trying to compare titles they call themselves. No matter how you talk about advances and success of South Africa, it doesn't change the fact that it doesn't have the population strength of Nigeria (1:5 Africans are Nigerians, 1:7 blacks globally are of Nigerian origin), and the economic size of Nigeria which is top 1 in Africa even it has only utilized less than 30% of its true strength due to the many issues of the country. No African country matches South African level of sophistication, advancement, and success in most areas of development. South African is a shining star for Africa and a role model in some aspects of development. You can't take that away, this is important for Africa too. This makes both countries very important for Africa and should improve co-op and partnership. Not pitching one against the other.
Sorry but no. The fact is that Nigeria should be a leader but isn’t. It isn’t even the best nation in West Africa and doesn’t seem like it wants to be a leader. Unity is important and very desirable for all. It would lead to greater economic growth, quality of life and self confidence in the world. However if the institutions are weak (which they are in Nigeria) then unity doesn’t mean much. It’s like calling for world peace. If there is a lack of will among those who have the greatest power to affect real change then we may as well ask for wings to fly because either way it is a fantasy.
@@BlackDoveNYC Again you're deviation from the issues, Nigeria isn't here telling you it's the best country in anywhere, you can keep that title if you like it. Nigeria is focus more on reorganizing itself for proper growth and development. The issue here is about the tag giant, which you've been told why Nigeria adopted the title (population size and economic size). Nigeria is focused on trying to put itself together after over 4 decades of political instability caused by military interventions, we just started enjoying stable democracy since 1999, the aim it to keep it that way while we adjust for growth. Nigeria has back footed in continental leadership issues to focus internally in the meantime, there's nothing stopping you and others from doing the continental role and paying the bills for it. Afterral Nigeria held that role for many years in the past. if you understand where Nigeria is coming from and where it is now, you'll know it has made much progress, although not what it should be. We all know it's a work in progress. With all these being said, it still has that largest economy and largest population of young people who have shown their strong will in the economy, local investment, selling it's culture and entertainment globally. Lead the push for global acceptance of African culture via entertainment
Why are these countries being pitted against one another? I’m not even from either, but l can see through the messaging here. What matters more is Afrikan countries must work together according to their strengths.
@@couragebeforedishonor never mind that…Nigerians must just continue to make their country the best version possible, the rest should follow. As for South Africa being home to White Afrikans…l personally do not have a problem with that…there is strength in diversity. What we want is people that want to see Afrika shine through Ubuntu and do away with Racism and Tribalism. If people from outside Afrika want to invest, by all means…just let them find us already working together towards a common goal.
@@couragebeforedishonor l didn’t even get halfway past reading your rant. You are angered, and l understand. But we have to move forward at some point. Personally, l do not subscribe to stereotyping…because in the era we live in nothing is simple anymore. You will find that there are White folk who are now aligned to the struggles of the Black folk (some even were pre-independence). If you perpetuate that which your colonizer began…you inadvertently are contributing toward the spirit of its continuation. As l type this l realize it’s not that simple (as there are some who would love apartheid to continue…in whatever new form it morphs into). …but, not all White folk are oppressive racists and they would proudly go to bat for South Africa as a whole. Ours is to find ways to incentivize those, penalize the racist ones and lift ALL who are impoverished regardless of race (that last bit just by nature means there will be a bias towards uplifting the Ethnic folk…and that is more than fine).
@@couragebeforedishonor okay. I now get your context. It is deplorable what is happening in the States. Frankly, l do Not understand how people who are supposed to be trusted end up being so evil. Maybe I would have a better perspective if l had lived experience. All l can attest to is my Afrikan lived experience. Here, there are a lot of honest to good White folk (but so are the few racists as well). It’s partly due to Whites being in the minority…but it’s also hugely because of our spirit of Ubuntu. You can not help but become a better person when surrounded by people who practice Ubuntu. Granted we have other complexities that make life not as simple. This video doesn't take into account the fact that south Africa wasn't an independent country for a long time. Nigeria was labelled the giant of Africa because they used to be the best country in Africa. They were the chief daddy that handed out loans without interest rates, lead the African Union and had some of the best military personnels at the time. No African country till this day has invested more in Africa than Nigeria (both financially and politically). That's the reason for its label. Nigeria is a representation of Africa, as most foreigners see a good portion of Africans abroad as Nigerian. The term "the giant of Africa" doesn't hold too much accuracy in 2023 but there was a valid reason for Nigeria being given that moniker.

South Africans will never be envious of Nigeria,we all Africans we have different traits as we come from different parts of the continent, and there's nothing that we are envious about
Nigerians saying South Africans are jealous is so funny 🤣😂😭😆 One thing that bothers me is that most of these west african countries got independence years before south africa they should be so ahead but all they like do is run to other countries why is that ?
Any country can keep the title: GIANT, if you want and if that your problem, pls if you are a Nigerian, hope you stop engaging yourself with this mindless comparison, we know ourselves and what we can do, besides we have never depend on any body, country or continent for help before, so let's try and sort our problems and stop engaging in an endless argument with other countries and mind our business.
Who is this trying to create problems. Listen man, come to Nigeria and see why we are giant. Looking at your analysis, then the US is not the giant because the standard of living in the US is way lower than some Europeans nations and eve some gulf nations like Bahrain, Qartar and Jordan...These countries have better per capital income, yet we still say the US is the number 1 nation why ? Its the shear size of their GDP and influence. Nigeria has those!
Nigeria GDP is sizable. Not sure about the influence. My understanding is that Nollywood is influential I guess. Some here have mentioned music. True U.S. has the largest nominal GDP and some nations have higher standards of living depending on how you measure it. I guess. I would not want to visit Nigeria whereas I'd love to visit South Africa. I don't know anyone who'd go to Nigeria voluntarily. If you aren't in the oil business what would be the point? To get scammed to your face instead of via the Internet? Yeah, SA has problems (like all nations with people) but on a nationwide scale it is a beautiful country with great infrastructure, a great university system and a lot of really nice houses everywhere not just in one city.
Currencies: 1ZAR (South African Rand) equals 25.51 Nigerian Naira. Put differently - 1 Nigerian Naira equals 0.0392 South African cents. 1 USD equals 18.0525 ZAR. On the other hand - 1 USD equals 460.54 Nigerian Naira or 1 Nigerian Naira equals 0.002000 USD. Data as at 19 February 2023.
Nigeria is Giant of africa. rand is biegger than japanese yen and south korean currency yet they are far richer south africa, currency is not economy, rest.
And so? How rich are South Africans? I am not counting your colonial masters the pink European/ Indian South Africans. The children of the so called evil white settlers who migrated from Europe. Killed your kind and reduced you natives to a slave status to this day. Any African who doesn’t own his ancestral lands and resources and work on it as a farm hand is a slave 100% unless his kind owns it.
Nigeria is the giant of Africa with GDP currently stànding at $570billion as per IMF. The country is quietly developing its infrastructures and attending to its challenges. The next four years is going to be great for Nigeria as foundational infrastructures such as power generation, roads and railway networks, refineries and gas plants, modern seaports , and critical industrial plants in mineral processing, food processing and manufacturing are being completed or under construction as we speak. Things can only get better and bigger. The best time to invest in Nigeria is now.
then take Nigeria's Population / GDP ? & Do the same with South Africa. Lastlty, compare the infrastructure & government Systems of the 2 countries, then U'll see that SA is still the best Country compared to Nigeria.
People think South Africa is really falling that low There thousands of construction projects across the country You can't go a 100 km on the road without seeing a construction project Currently in my home town a R560 million interchange is under construction A high court and a university are soon to be built with land already set aside
@@ernistox Nigeria’s population is a major advantage. It’s gdp per capita might be lower than South Africa but it can get to enjoy economies of scale- meaning that the cost of everything from goods and services to infrastructure and labour will be significantly lower than in South Africa, and this is a major engine of growth. In fact, South Africa’s higher gdp per capita is irrelevant in this case due to the unbearable wealth gap between white and black South Africans. And finally, Nigeria is still growing at breakneck speed while South Africa is stunted. Nigeria’s population and industries are just at infant level and a whole era of development is about to begin, whereas the same can’t be said for South Africa where the population is aging and barely growing

Mind you Singapore was categorized a fully developed countries in the 90s surpassing most other countries in Asia in all areas of development, this doesn't make it a giant ahead of india or China
Most people call South Africa Africa's most Advanced Economy/Rainbow Nation, Most sophisticated country.. this is undisputed by everyone and accepted as titles for South Africa.
These titles captures the level of development, success in most areas mentioned in this video.
These different titles fits the 2 countries, there's no need for creating video challenging the title of these countries
These two countries have strengths in areas the other may lack, it's all for the good of Africa if both of these countries co-op more, build understanding, work together in the necessary areas to uplift Africa, not trying to compare titles they call themselves.
We have over 50 countries that need a role model to look upto.
My friend Nigeria needs to lead if it want to be called Giant, with all its resources and man power this no reason for Naija to carry last
These are stats. Why the pain🤷

But generally, the average Afrikan (whether White or Black is at peace with the other…or at the very least cordial). Here it’s more of the politicians that generally cause grief for everyone else.

In fact, South Africa’s higher gdp per capita is irrelevant in this case due to the unbearable wealth gap between white and black South Africans. And finally, Nigeria is still growing at breakneck speed while South Africa is stunted.
