I echo everyone's compliments and gratitude. If I may, I can help the first collar piece on w/ less struggle...smh when I first realized...they're REVERSE THREADED lol yup, just screw those puppies on lefty-loosey til you hit bottom and then you can lube up yer other thingy and screw it in proper!
This is exactly how a tutorial video should be! Slow, great explanation and good up close imaging of what you’re doing! So many people have the camera so far away that you really can’t see what they’re doing, to understand what they’re doing! Thanks for a great video!
It helps to lubricate the "barb" portion of the fitting when assembling too as that has to push down inside of the rubber hose. Also most recommend that you leave a credit card gap between the two parts. It looks neater to align the sides of the hex vs what you have done as well. Also good idea to start the masking tape BACKWARDS then flip it and tightly wrap it. This will prevent fraying even futher. Overall good overview on assembling these.
I just got my first set of AN fittings and hose with a new fuel pressure regulator I'm using on my newest project, this video was very informative, and thank you very much😉 now I have an idea how not to screw up my first AN fittings *
A,properly manufactured high quality AN fitting should be fully tightened until the flats of the Hex are aligned. Your example was out by approx 30°. So it was either a lesser quality or not quite tightened all tgd way. Good job on showing how far to bottom out thd hose portion into the nut as that is also a critical dimention.often overlooked.
Some brands or so called experts say to leave 1/8th" between to two fittings. Are the using a different brand of fittings? I am quickly loosing track of brands and right v wrong. This build is mine, kinda want it right. Thanks for video!
@robfromtoledo9514 I always tighten it all the way down. I would think that would cause leaks. Let me know how it turns out. Good luck on your project.
Good video. How come other videos show that you need to fray the nylon and stainless braid back a bit to install a compression sleeve before installing the AN fitting? This Evil kit doesn't seem to use those types of fittings.
A few minutes later, I can answer my own question... because it's not PTFE hose. Those fittings with the "olive" are for PTFE hose. You're just using regular nylon hose. 🙃
Curious. I have this exact fittings and hose, was planning on replacing a hard steel hose thats on my rack and pinion, do you know if this style of an fittings and hose is rated for high pressure power steering? Thanks
Rack and pinion pressures run 400-600PSI, depending on the brand. Recirculating ball steering gear boxes run 800-1,200PSI and low pressure return is under 20PSI. DK, ASE Master tech since 78, retired.
I heard some say you need teflon tape? I been looking at a transmission cooler on amazon and it comes with AN fittings. Some reviews say the fittings need teflon/plumbers tape. I wonder if it also means I have to put an fittings on my factory transmission lines too?
@Soldier1287 AN fittings don't usually use teflon tape. You might be able to find a adapter fitting to go from the factory line fitting to the AN fitting on the transmission cooler.
I know I'm 3 years late. I'm currently installing new transmission lines for my 2007 mazda 6, ive gone through several fittings but keep leaking at 37⁰. Everything is snug, ive tried conical seals several times.. tried different brand AN fitting too 6AN is the size. Any advice? 😅
@james Beason I was going to pick up a set of soft jaws that go in the vise for the video. But then I figured I could show that it can be done without them. Going to pick some up though. Thanks 👍🏻
Great video but I never got the hose into the fitting. I tried tape no tape lub but all that happens is the nylon peels back. Sending kit back for refund.
@@midlifecustoms As I was sending back my brother-in-law said turn counterclockwise and it will go in. DUh the nylon braid was still a pain but It works. LOL again thx for the video
@DomTheSoccerMom with a straight cut on the hose and pressed up to the back of the inside of the fitting then threaded down. It should seal correctly 👍🏻
Thanks but what’s the point of a AN hose end if it just sits in there by tension? You’d think tightening down the hose end will also tighten the hose sitting inside. A fitting with a barb end will be better because at least you can tighten the hose down fully with a hose clamp
@Preston Boling the actual an fitting wrench is made from aluminum. Which I guess keeps it from scratching the fittings. Happy to hear the video helped.
Nice TRUCK!! It's just like mine, but much nicer lol and more street friendly! Mines more offroad setup right now. Check it out on my Channel! Thx for the video. Great videos dude.
@@midlifecustoms hey thank you a lot. Doing all kinds of stuff. Just built a V8 for my 70 Nova, I'll be swapping it in soon and all that. Exciting. Appreciate it!

Well described and far better than the fast forwarded version I viewed. You took the time to explain how and why. Great job!

Thanks @Angel Soto. Good luck on your project. Let me know how it turns out
Good job explaining, thank you for your time. I now have the courage to go ahead and do my new oil hose to cooler. Thanks again.

Other videos I've watched say to leave a small gap when running the nut down. I assume so it can be swiveled a little if the angle needs adjusting.

@dougpendleton1266 Thank you.
Your video was very helpfulBut I have one question I seen on some other videos that they used a Oil ring for leaks
@prettywomenclassiccars1751 thanks. AN fittings don't usually use anything. Maybe it was a different kind of setup.

@markiki77 thanks
My fittings came with o rings, is it necessary to put an o ring in between the fitting when tightening the fitting to the hose?
@SBdunks3 I am not sure what setup you have. AN fittings don't usually use o rings. Might want to check with the company you bought them from.
Very good, doing my first an fuel line setup, what brand
@terrysibley9636 Thanks. I used a kit from Evil energy. There is a link in the description.
I heard some say you need teflon tape? I been looking at a transmission cooler on amazon and it comes with AN fittings. Some reviews say the fittings need teflon/plumbers tape. I wonder if it also means I have to put an fittings on my factory transmission lines too?

Is it just as easily achievable to put the hose together if you dont have a vice?
@bmwe39m5 it can definitely be done. But it being fine thread and going into the hose it does get pretty tight. So if you have a vise it helps.

@andr3woc34 sorry to hear that. Nothing comes to mind. Good luck hope you figure it out 👍🏻
Bit of a dumb question, but the other side of the fitting still swivel when it's fully tightened down? Or does it become rigid
@Bilal Tariq after being tightened down it should not move
Dude, you should open a working production garage.
@Daytona Lake Big Ed that is the plan. Thanks for the support
The wood you put in the vice are called 'jells'
@james Beason I was going to pick up a set of soft jaws that go in the vise for the video. But then I figured I could show that it can be done without them. Going to pick some up though. Thanks 👍🏻
How long to it have tobe to go from engine to gas tank I have a 08 impala ls
@t.real_adams6898 I have no idea. Maybe you can run a piece of rope the way you want it and then measure it.
What type of Lubricant do you use?
@vinnyc.1265 I used a couple of drops of tool oil I had
Why didn't you put any gas resistant thread sealer on the thread's?
@Mike Smith I did not think the hose fittings needed it.
They don't need it.
Great video but I never got the hose into the fitting. I tried tape no tape lub but all that happens is the nylon peels back. Sending kit back for refund.
@JuicedMoose thanks for the comment. Hope it all works out for you.
@@midlifecustoms As I was sending back my brother-in-law said turn counterclockwise and it will go in. DUh the nylon braid was still a pain but It works. LOL again thx for the video
@Michael Dunnell sounds like it all worked out. That’s awesome. Congrats
So it just slides ride into the hose and it seals correctly?

Had to speed it up x2 omg sooooo sloooow

What kind lube on the threads?
@johnmcote I think I used a very slight amount of air tool oil I had.
i knew i'd be able to use a regular old adjustable wrench. i can't believe people actually buy an fitting wrenches lol
@Preston Boling the actual an fitting wrench is made from aluminum. Which I guess keeps it from scratching the fittings. Happy to hear the video helped.
What kinda of lube did you use?
@Grunt Dawg I think I used a very slight amount of air tool oil I had.
Yes,very
No o rings?
@fartgun6024 No o rings
Where did you get the fuel line ?
@Delta-mike I used a kit I got from Amazon. Link in the description.

This stuff sucks. 3 tries and can't get it to go in without fraying
@MikeJrOfficial yeah that happens and I agree it sucks when it does.
