You sir just saved my turbo installation. Had an AN fitting facing the wrong way and couldnt for the life of me get it to connect properly. Watched your video and saw how they were put together, clamped it down, spun the fitting and finally got her on the right way! Thank you!!
Ive always installed mine with the hose ALL THE WAY in on the female part of the fittings. Never had one leak, nor had trouble getting the two parts to screw together.. They are designed to have the hoses pushed all the way to the stop. Also need to be sure they are cut off square. i've seen people leave them at an angle, and that's not right either. The least amount of fraying is good too. Plus a little lube will help get them together. Final thing I will say, is if cutting with a grinder, be sure to CLEAN THE HOSE before you install it. The metal debris and rubber will get inside your fuel system if you don't. A quick spray with Brake Parts cleaner after its assembled will take care of this, or carb cleaner. just be sure to blow air through after to help push the cleaner and debris all the way out. (I spray from the opposite end, so the debris only has to go a short distance, and not all the way through the hose.)
You should add a bit of lube (WD40 works fine) to the part you screw inside. It really helps and smaller fittings will be less stressed when you put them together.
I have 10 an hose that I'm using for an oil filter relocation kit. I'm not sure if i did it right, but there's about a 3/16 gap between the collar and the rest of the fitting when i torqued it down. Would that be considered normal or did i shove the hose in too far? I noticed there's a bit of a gap between your completed fitting, but that's not 10an.
Do you have links to what you bought? I am looking to add an e85 sensor and need to modify my low pressure line with something like this. Thanks for the great video.
I would need both 6an ends and the tubing. The rest would just be standard AN stuff. I was not sure what ends you needed for this type of twist on connector with the nylon wrapped tubing.
can you remove the fittings if you have to shorten the hose and then re-use them? I bought a custom hose and need to shorten it for my application. Just wondering if I can take the fitting off cut the hose and then re-use the fitting.
I have seen that for ptfe ss braided hoses they also use a different kind of an fitting with some sort of metal ring inside that you previously insert between the braid and the teflon core. Is there any advantage over the fittings you are using?
The ones I'm using are a lot cheaper, but PTFE is a good way to go. Here's a good link for more info: www.pegasusautoracing.com/document.asp?DocID=TECH00112
clinkowich lol not kidding. I’ve figured out why it was fraying. I needed to tuck the edges in carefully with a flat head/blade driver to get it started. After that it was cake walk. They came out fine. No leaks and braids still in tact like they were professionally made.

Hey! That's awesome, glad it was helpful. :)

Okie dokie
@@GearheadDaily Probably the best reply I've ever seen!!!
@@jameswiz LOL not sure what else to say, everyone has their own way of doing things.

Thanks for the tip :)
Outer threads are left handed.? (Lube!)
Putting em together seems pretty easy. Are you able to undo these kind of AN fittings? I'd assume yes, just in reverse order.
yep, completely reusable
Does the end still spin freely so it can be tightened down on the mating fitting with out twisting the hose all up?
Yep!

I've had to see a picture, but yes that seems to big

Straight 6AN? These are standard Earl's parts, I can look them up. No prob.

Can you use the black lines for nos? Also can you tape where you cut for a cleaner cut
i dont see why not. they are good for me up to 600psi
@@GearheadDailylittle late but that would be too little for nos you want to keep pressure around 900-1200 for a good spray

Correct...they require a ferrel to "swage" the fitting to hose...making a great high pressure fuel line...
I just use scissors to cut the line but damn every time I thread the hose in the braids start fraying.
That's probably because scissors aren't sharp enough. You need to make a VERY sharp line.

You can put tape on your wrench and save yourself the like $80 for an AN wrench lol. No scratches.
Sure thing
Great video
Thank you!
I finally found the AN fitting i have..thanks
Any time, glad it helped :)
what does that attach to? are there male and female fittings?
Yep, various kinds of male and female ends and bends. This is a Female end in the video. Both assemble in the same way.
He made it look really easily
it is!
I need the fuel lines hooked up on my subaru so I can get the car tuned thank you very much.
So it's ok if the hose doesn't bottom out fully into the female socket?
It doesn't have to be completely bottomed out, sometimes that makes it impossible to thread together but get it as close as you can.
Thank you
Any time.
Hey, do you have instagram or something? I’d like to ask some questions with pictures about my -8 an hose, it just keeps pushing it out
.... yeah that works great for the nylon braided.. try the stainless braid by hand
Who the hell uses steel lines anymore..???
I just assembled stainless braided an hose and fittings by hand with no issues
@@justinballard4134 please explain how u did that
wow dont get offended buddy. just saying SS braid u better have tape and a vice nearby... SS will tolerate abrasion better plus I like the look
Black has been on both my builds - looks much better.
