    Test Day!
    Soap & Clay is a family owned business operating in Washington State, but started out online thanks to Mrs. Soap & Clay's kickass brother and his amazing web design skills. The business was started as a tribute to Mrs. Soap & Clay's grandmother, the OG maker in the family that cultivated everyone's love for the DIY life. The studio/retail shop opened in 2017 on 6th Ave in Tacoma, and immediately began teaching soap, bath bomb, lotion, and scrub classes to the makers and maker enthusiasts of the PNW. In 2019, the pottery studio opened as well, making the soap shop a busy place full of artistic energy every minute of the day.
    Mrs. Soap & Clay has been featured on Business Spotlight, New Day Northwest, and was awarded a coveted place on the South Sound's 40 under 40 list in 2019, an award given to the most influential business people under the age of 40 each year. She cried when she walked up to the podium to accept the award. A lot.
    Drawing from her chemistry background and her maker spirit, Mrs. Soap & Clay infuses her favorite things into her soapy designs and creates products that are fun to see, use, and learn to make. Stick around for this ride - she'll take you on a great one.

      I’m a trifle shocked that the corn wasn’t a total competitor for 1st place!! That was a surprise!! And I’m delighted about the banana peels- like you, they are always in our house. And as far as the video qualities, I didn’t think I cares or noticed, but I have watched other Utube videos and they are so sub- par in comparison to yours. In so many ways- the lighting, the placement of the camera, the sound quality, the background, and just the quality and knowledge of your info that you pass on. So allow me to appreciate you! And your efforts, I love to be able to enjoy this content it makes me happy, seriously. and so thank you!!

    Because of you, after i've watched the video with banana in lye, i did a soap with banana. OMG it's freaking awesome. I love it. And i need to tell you that i cut it yesterday evening and i went immediately to wash my hands, with some piece of soap. So if you feel this way although the soap is not cured i can't wait to see how it will feel after several weeks. Thank you very much for what your doing. I will be honest with you. You are one of the reason that i opened my soap business. I'm at the beginning but you helped me so much, without you knowing. And to respond to your question, for me by far, banana is my favorite.

      I know you're probably joking, but that's actually a brilliant idea! Upcycling and zero waste are really popular emerging trends in skincare/beauty right now, and fortunately, I don't see that trend dying out. Incorporating waste products from the food industry, which is a huge threat to the environment, would be really impressive.

    Thanks so much for doing this series Chantine. What a great idea. I personally would use the banana. Only because it's repurposing something that would only go in the bin (compost bin). The fact that it's free is a super duper bonus. I've not added tussah silk to my soaps as yet, next on my list. I'm off to have a banana. ;-)

  • @Abutado
    @Abutado ปีที่แล้ว

    Ok, I just did an inventory of all my additives/botanical embeds and I'm excited for the prospective benefits if used as lye infusions. I've got 3 different mushroom powders (Chaga, reishi, & lion's mane), roses, dandelion tea, lotus leaf tea, chrysanthemum, Clove leaf tea, hemp powder and sri inchi protein powder. Any thoughts on if any of these would not work in lye? If anyone is curious about getting some of these, honestly Asian markets are my favorite to search for these additives. I find the coconut milk and cream powder there, coconut milk/cream without the additives, huge selection of teas, and so much more!
    Hmmm now I'm wondering about that grass jelly and sugar cane I got for bubble tea 😂 can't look at anything without thinking of whether or not it works with soap 😂
