I admire Rob's cheerfulness, well done fella 👍🏻🙂 The wheels were very heavy to cope with the vast torque churned out by the mighty motor !

It's quite heartening to witness these two Bsb gophers struggle with old tech. Well done Rob. Dave, welcome to the world most of us inhabit 😁.

Being an old man, I remember struggling doing wheels in my old CB and Zed 750’s. But so thankful for progress!
You have forgotten to fit the hinge in the middle of the frame and you need to film Rob setting fire to it when he connects the battery and watch the old school Suzuki wiring disappear in a cloud of smoke😂
Oh and poor action lubing your spindles!!!

Great series Dave, I had an 1100 of the same vintage it had an alloy swing arm, air forks and shocks with damping adjustment!! Cost me £2650 brand new 😲 I was stopped by the police for excessive speed so many times I lost count.... but always let off! Those were the days. Silver with blue pinstripes it taught me all about more power than handling 😂...some brave souls raced them, when superbikes didn't have fairings and wide bars were needed to keep them kinda under control.
Thanks for filming editing and posting.
    ATB Alistair 👍

Alloy swing arm, you flash bugger!
But I assume it didn't transform the handling

I had a silver 1100 though it had green stripes from memory and it constantly had me in trouble with the cops..
In superbikes GSX1100's were the king here in Australia in the early eighties, a set of Keihin carburetors and an assortment of Yoshimura parts along with some frame bracing and suspension changes made a great race bike.

@@obsession_engineering It looked good but your assumption is correct, any improvement in their handling would have been marginal.
That said though, steering head bearing tension was their biggest bugbear, if you got that right their handling was as good as anything else around in those days.

@@obsession_engineering yep came from the factory with that and I've remembered it had damping clickers in the bottom of the fork legs! ... don't remember them making much difference mind😂
      Cheers

It's coming together nicely. Since you are enjoying it so much , I've a 1983 gx750 sitting in a shed since 2015 you are welcome to sort out, now you've got the hang of it.

Put the rear spindle in the other way round to support all the spacers on the disk side first, it makes no difference whatsoever once nipped up.

Try doing this type of rear wheel axle arrangement by on your own. It’s much more entertaining than 2 people who know what they are doing.😱
