    Lol. Not a Northstar derived V6. That was the Shortstar, 3.5. That 3.6 in the Lacrosse is from the CTS, it’s the LY7 V6.

      Thanks for sharing. Is this a good engine and from reliability how does it compare to the 3.8?

    I'm in the vast minority, maybe, but I think it was a good looking car in its day.

    The series 3- 3800 V-6 is widely considered by a lot of experienced mechanics to be the best all around engine ever made. And that includes all Japanese motors as well. People get 500,000 miles on these with good power and gas mileage without major issues. I like 2006-2007 model years myself. However the 3.6 motor actually turned out to be total garbage plauged with serious issues. The 3.8 is a completely different design and was probably designed and developed by a different group of people.

    I remember when these first came out. Someone mentioned the roofline looked like it was lifted right off a Ford Taurus. I does look pretty darn close. 🤔

      I've seen a taurus parked next to a lacrosse for months and the lacrosse roof does just looks like a bigger taurus roof.

    Wonder why they didn’t just keep the name Lesabre?

    • @EyeonthePrize247
      @EyeonthePrize247 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Probably to try and get away from the “old people” image that the LeSabre name brings to mind.

      This was the new W-body Buick (replaced the Century/Regal). The Lucerne replaced the LeSabre/Park Avenue. But I think they should've kept LeSabre name around too. Also this and the LeSabre were briefly sold at the same time.

    The first lacrosse, was a nice grand tourer, but lacking true horsepower, the base engine/cx CXL/was good but the optional engine was a joke, the S/C 3800 felt more Buick like than the 24V cheap 6.

  • @patcurrie9888

    What a disappointment after LeSabre. LeSabre had catcher's mitt seats to protect front passenger occupants, deleted for LaCrosse. LeSabre also had comfier seating. 2005 was a dark time for Buick, last yr for LeSabre, Park Ave, Century and Regal. First year for LeCrosse and 2006 first year for the sub par Lucurne which looked and felt like an overgrown Honda. 2 sedans offerings for Buick. Yikes!

      This is only Buick i ever liked. The Lucern was only Buick i ever loved. Oldsmobile man. Better dash and overall look in olds while still not a boring Chevy or gaudy Cad

      Not a gimmick if you live in north. So nice when its 10 below zero farenheit and you push a button and the car fires up while you finish getting ready.

    Sorry Motorweek, that 3.6 is NOT better than the 3800. That is factually wrong.

      Through the early 2010s great transmission. My 07 impala got just shy of 30 mpg commuting to work from one house and 27 from the other. Never got below 23mpg even in winter.

    • @arieljones4595
      @arieljones4595 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @scrambler69-xk3kv I have to think that a 2 speed transmission would be pretty rough. Poor acceleration and poor fuel economy. It'd have to either be buzzy on the highway at the expense of economy, or vice versa. But, I guess if that was the best they could, then that what ya got.

      Agreed, but that's not the first time they've told that myth. They started claiming that stuff with the early '90s LeSabre. What it looks like is a catfish era Taurus. Anyone that's in denial about that, just watch one of the " that's not a Buick " ads where a character enters a catfish era Taurus mistaking it for a Buick. In other words even they admit that they ripped off of the Ford Taurus in styling not a Jaguar.

      You probably didn't take care of her..lol really these engines are some of the best ones that GM has EVER produced
      I've had my 2006 since 2011...Still running strong 107k miles down...22k when I bought her.... Only major engine maintenance I've done is replacing the spark plugs......That was back in 2018 😂
