Started with an slx dc, loved it so much I ordered the 2023 Antares DC MD XG for big swim baits. The biggest problem with DC reels is not having more 😂 I will say my Curado 71 mgl is dope af even if it’s not a dc reel. Anything Shimano will be high quality regardless if it’s a dc or not🤘🏼
One thing that can't be discounted: the benefit of DC to people learning to use a bait casting reel. I've owned DC reels since they came out...I like them a lot...
@@FurtherNorth absolutely, however I think it kind of takes the “learning” out of it. Practice makes perfect. They absolutely have their time and place, but I think the DC aspect is a bit misleading with how it’s advertised!
@@joebobsbass as you get better, you turn the DC functions down... ...and they're still there when you want them, like all the windy days we've had here this season.
Im on 3 all the time. My point is that even on 3, the DC doesn’t seem to prevent a backlash. I backlash far less on my Tranx 200 then I do on my curado DC. I think that says something…
@@joebobsbass it does for me at 3. I even use 1 or 2 for certain things, but you have to thumb it. Just because its a DC doesn't mean you throw thumb control out the window. Im guessing your tension knob is a bit too loose if youre backlashing on 3.
I run my slx at 2 never any issues unless I try to absolutely send the bait across the lake then I might get a quick bird nest.

@@FurtherNorth thats why im getting my dad a DC. Easier learning curve.
4 is skipping/wind mode bro. Use 2 or 3 for regular use.
