    Condorman rules. The car chase blew me away as a kid. The reveal of the Condorcar is perfect, and the music by Henry Mancini is outstanding. The KGB theme is super intense and brooding. It does such a good job setting up the scene, only to be overtaken by the soaring Condorman theme. And not to be outdone, the movie also has a great boat chase for the finale.

    Condor Man...I saw this on the big screen. Great movie for kids, and adults. Back when Disney was a clean, imaginative organization. I was a boy who didn't know what he was getting into with this movie. So awesome. It starts out unremarkable, and the blows your mind with this James Bond/super hero hybrid. If Spy Hunter was a movie, this is it.

    Condorman as film is underrated. Written smart with a good cast, and the bad guys are properly Disney-level-menacing as they get without being cheesy. Most of the gadget tech is pretty believable too as you know all the live-action effects were practical back then.
    I'm stoked to see Condorman mentioned by anyone on TH-cam like this, it's a major nostalgic childhood treasure for me that I've discovered no one outside of my family remembers. Back in the early to mid-80s, in my circles anyway, anyone lucky enough to have a VCR only owned about 8 movies! Of those 8 maybe 2 were kid-friendly, so there were certain things we would watch over and over and over, and over again, and didn't get tired of them either, because everything else was commercial over the air and this "new idea" of controlling your own video playback was so glorious. Buying your own movies for home was very expensive then, the first release of Star Wars: A New Hope (pre-remastered of course) on VHS was $120. That'd be like $300 bucks for a Blue-ray now or something.
    Anyway, enjoyed the video, thanks. 🙂

    Condorman! **click**
    Great soundtrack.
    When I was a kid in the 80s/90s antenna TV would fill Saturday and Sunday afternoon slots with cheap movies. Condorman was played in a somewhat regular rotation - regular enough I was able to tape it on VHS. I never thought the movie had an identity crisis, I just figured it was a kid's version of James Bond.

    • @MFPMapFilmProductions
      @MFPMapFilmProductions  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Personally I liked it a lot as a kid. Would watch it over and over again on the tape I had. But being an Australian, I had no idea how bad MC American accent was. But still, I think it deserves more respect than it currently gets and should at least have a Blu Ray release.

      @@MFPMapFilmProductions Disney won't give this movie any attention because it makes their current offerings look unoriginal and terribly written. Condorman is a balanced action flick that is more relatable and plausible than most Bond films - especially for young dweebs who would love to spy-simp on a mega hottie.
      BTW, the DVD release is ever so slightly different than the old tape I copied off the TV. Thinking about this era of Disney from my childhood, I recalled the RV chase from Escape to Witch Mountain (1975)...which can be in an upcoming MFP video titled "Car chases in movies that shouldn't have car chases." LOL

    I saw "the sweeney" on cable tv, and I loved it! Not just because of the persecution. It's a real Macho Man vs. the World movie.

      I had a much more extended review on The Sweeny how it plays on how outdated Ray's character was played out in the movie and how they at least grounded the idea in reality and how sometimes we need people like him, but took up too much time. Yeah, I dug Condorman a lot too growing up.

    This was when Disney was still making modern day Hallmark level character movies.
    Herbie, Freaky Friday, Cat from Outer Space, etc etc.

    I had forgotten all about 'Condorman'. Damn you. Damn you to Heck, MFP! Sadly, I think I enjoyed it when I saw it...sort of...in a 17-year-old teenage kid kinda way.

      @MFPMapFilmProductions  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ha ha, yeah, Condorman is one of those films you hate to love. Blazing Magnum just recently made it onto Blu Ray, but you will have more luck finding it under the title 'Strange Shadows in an Empty Room' or 'Shadows in an Empty Room' as I think it has like 5 different names all up. Fear is the Key is actually a good film on its own and has a unique storyline to it and keeps you interested how it's gonna play out throughout till the end.

    Totally agree with number one 'fear is the key' car chase is one of the best, film is a bit strange as it feels like two different films, the first bit is all action and the second more of an espionage film.
    Fun fact went to the cinema to watch 'Condorman' as a child, many many years later it was on TV at Christmas time and i woke the kids to watch it, maybe i over hyped how good it was as they were not impressed even asking if they could go back to bed!!

    3:36 Robbery is a great film (the Robbery is actually the Great Train Robbery) and I think 60s Jags capable of 130+ mph still put a lot of modern car chases to shame. 14:41 Fear is the Key is a great film with a great car chase and a jump that visibly made the car look like a banana.

      Yeah, Robbery is a pretty impressive chase even today, but man did they go all out the following year. A good body/fender man could easily buff and blend those Ferraris back to better than showroom condition. Also those 1972 Ford Grand Torino’s with the factory function ram air hood scoop, where very under rated lol. I was the second owner when we bought ours in California in 1983. It had the 351 Cleveland Cobra Jet engine ! I was stationed at the USMC
    ElToro air base, at motor pool there was an older gentleman who was a gear head of the 60’s era ! Wow this guy hooked up some crazy wild stuff 😮 !!
    Not sure how he did it, but he set up the car to exhale smoke 💨 during the daytime through the dual air ram hood scoop. Then at night he set it up so flames 🔥 would come out of the hood scoop ! His shop had switches, gages, cables, fire proof linings to protect the hood scoop, hood, engine, engine bay, etc, all under hood/ bonnet area ! This car was amazing to drive any way you wanted except going off road lol. If you put on the old fashion bias ply snow tires in the winter, forget about getting stuck ! With a half tank or more of gas, these (4) snow ❄️ tires, a full size spare in the trunk, (2) / (50lb) bags of salt/sad, I used one type of each, shovel and some common sense, this car did not get stuck in the snow !
    Granted, this mini tank was not a rally car or a 4x4 vehicle but it was awesome to drive in all (4) seasons with the correct tires on it !! The only bad thing was this, a tow truck with the big rubber thick front bumper, slid on ice, hit the back end of our car, smashed it into a telephone pole, front end snapped the pole, it fell onto the Torinos hood & roof, bent the front end of the frame and the insurance company totaled it. We bought it with 40-45,000 miles on it, after this it had between 145-150,000 miles on it. Never did anything to it except oil change and tune ups. My wife at this time liked the color of it. Like a blonde/tan or gold color paint, matching her natural dirty blonde 👱‍♀️ hair lol.
    Back in 1983 in the California desert, nobody around on those highways with nothing to hit either so to speak lol. We were only 19 years old back then with a so called “CHIPS” police officer with us so we could open her up at high speeds like a couple of idiots looking for a death wish out in the desert 🏜️ 😢. It was scary and back then seatbelts were optional on that car, since it was a Cali car, it only had a seat/lap belt ! The shoulder straps were optional and had to be connected manually yet separate too😮 Back then they had a two piece version of a seatbelt !! 😅 Very scary at high speeds ! The speedometer only went up to 120mph, some vehicle’s would go past the this mark and start hitting the odometer !!
    Ours peaked at 120 but went past it to the white mile marker number lol.
    A late 60’s corvette had pictures of these guys driving on the salt flats covering the odometer with the speedometer needle 😮whoa ! 😮 now that was super crazy fast back then. It ended at 160mph, but his pictures had that yellow needle between the 160 and the (H) mark. Those two guys were 100% certifiable nuts, and belong in a loony bin lol.
    However, after all these years, looking back at our 120 mark being passed, I should have been on the same bus ride only on a different seat and back. Lol my dumb ass is lucky to be alive especially with the technology back then in the 60s and 80s!! At that speed the car is wearing you for protection. Yes, it was crazy fun but never again with those old cars unless it has been totally modernized with all the safety features that keep it on the road nice, tight and safe with high tech braking systems, modern sticky wide tires, anti lock brakes, traction control and schooling on the correct way to drive at those high speeds correctly.

    All we care about are the chases. You spent way too much time explaining the movie plots.

      One of the biggest problems with movies that are "underrated" or "forgotten" is there is very little story out there known. In instances such as Condorman, there was next to no interviews or stories told of who built the car, how long the chase took or what happened to the car afterwards. In these films where the chase is an action piece and not what the whole film is about, no one cared enough to document what really happened. However, the setup is sometimes just as important as the pay off.

      @@MFPMapFilmProductions I disagree with Joe, you talked about all 10 movies in under 2 minutes average. I found the pacing and balance of backstory perfectly satisfactory. 🙂

      @@Dozenspeed Thank you. Though I understand what Joe is referring to and admit it would be nice to add more detail when needed or available. Some listed films need more detail to the plot to set up the situation.
