3-4 days is an underestimation, Probably around 5 in real terms The rough forge of the blade to shape is several hours of work, even with the power hammer you're looking atleast 3-4 hours of working time then the blade needs to stand and cool, at room temp to avoid serious hardening: Day 1 gone Going to the rough grind is again a good 2 hours machine time to do right After the rough grind, before the tapping of the thread he specifically mentions it's been re-heat treated to make sure the metal is in its softest state for the tap - that makes the end of day 2 the heat treat and the tapping the start of day 3 Now you have the heating and surface hardening quench, followed by the blade trueing file and grind to ensure the blade shape by the end of day 3 Then you have day 4 for final assembly, assuming everything went quickly and smoothly up to this point
Fair enough, I dont know much about smithing so I was going off the fact that all the machining work could be done in a day then gave a few extra for the blade work
True enough on the machining, the hilt basket chamber is quite simplistic in comparison to actually forming the blade - don't forget to also include a day for making the guy who needed to imagine how they's go about making it to begin with to sort the CNC drawings and sizes before any work started It's a shame they went for the thread, if you where making the blade for real use I would expect the blade tang to be ground cylindrical and pass through the dust cylinder for real strength - that would require quite a bit more time and a cylindrical grinder however
If you ever wanna do another historical build with some cool technical challenges, (and one that no one has ever done on youtube), make a Kilij (also known as Pala). They have a reinforced spinal ridge (T section), ultra thin edge (1.5-2mm) and complex curvature. I know Ilya is capable of doing the traditional Turkish Ribbon pattern welds, he did it for a recent Viking sword's core.
I wish, I REALLY want to see more historical builds. Fantasy and video game swords are cool, but nothing beats an actual proper historical weapon! I'd honestly love to see some forms of pole arms, something they seem to never have done much of!
+IPostSwords Yeah, but for mere peasants like me, I am a bit disappointed that I can't found any replica being made by modern swordmakers. The only ones that I found were original antiques that belonged to the Janissaries. I wish I have enough money so I can comission one for myself.
On the scale of 1 to Never Gonna Happen Unless Physics Nick Off, I agree that Jaune's sword and shield are about a 3? Pretty simple. Myrtlenaster for me was about a 6. Pyrrha's is somewhere between the two. Crimson Rose is very close to the Never Gonna Happen part XDD
Problem is people have already made functional Crescent Roses. Most of the weapons made by Monty were functional and transformable in real life, especially ALL of the weapons used by Ruby's team. Only thing is that the current Crescent Rose replicas can transform from rifle to scythe, but not quickly the other way around.
Karuiko There is also a big weight issue. For Crescent Rose to be lightweight enough to not hold Ruby back (both wielding it and carrying it at her lower back), all the parts would have to be light. But I don’t know of a material that’s light enough, but still strong enough to stand up to the repeated transformations, the high physical impact that swinging it around in scythe mode could take, and be able to stand up to the concussive pressure that comes from the style of ammunition she shoots. Don’t get me wrong; cosplayers who can do it are impressive. But when I say that it’s nearly impossible to do, I mean on a IRL and 100% functional in our realm of existence.
Please do a Warframe build off, theirs over 140 melee weapons to pick from, 3 factions that create them trough various methods. Traditional, Forged, and High Tech Fabrication. Perfect for the multiple generations of creators you have on hand.
If Milo cannot cycle between a rifle, javelin and xiphos then it must be chucked away. That would be complete disrespect for the best girl, Pyrrha. #jokes
they can actually make Miló transform into its 3 forms (I almost finish my cardboard replica which can do that then my parent accidentally broke it) but the rifle won't work because of common sense, the blade also can not shortened like its original version in the series, that why the blade must be removable
not sure that would be possible, its incredibly impractical, even if everything but the blade want made of metal, i would still be really heavy. i think they chose weiss rapier since it was the most practical
They likely didn't because Monty had asked that none of the RWBY weapon replicas be made of metal, while I don't know if he meant for when people sell them, so this may still be fine but Monty did make this request.
Just a stab in the dark "hehehe, puns" but i think what monty ment by that was that he didn't want his creations to actually be used weapons. But its just a guess.
Can I just say how much I love your work with the DIY Cosplay Shop and Man at Arms Reforged? I mean you're doing so much awesome work with everything you're making and it's just awesome to see it! 😁
Honestly, it's pretty neat to see any of the weapons, considering how intricate they are. I'm tossing my hat into what I think would be somewhat simpler this time. Lothric Knight Longsword from Dark Souls 3.

3-4 days is an underestimation, Probably around 5 in real terms
The rough forge of the blade to shape is several hours of work, even with the power hammer you're looking atleast 3-4 hours of working time
then the blade needs to stand and cool, at room temp to avoid serious hardening: Day 1 gone
Going to the rough grind is again a good 2 hours machine time to do right
After the rough grind, before the tapping of the thread he specifically mentions it's been re-heat treated to make sure the metal is in its softest state for the tap - that makes the end of day 2 the heat treat and the tapping the start of day 3
Now you have the heating and surface hardening quench, followed by the blade trueing file and grind to ensure the blade shape by the end of day 3
Then you have day 4 for final assembly, assuming everything went quickly and smoothly up to this point
Fair enough, I dont know much about smithing so I was going off the fact that all the machining work could be done in a day then gave a few extra for the blade work
True enough on the machining, the hilt basket chamber is quite simplistic in comparison to actually forming the blade - don't forget to also include a day for making the guy who needed to imagine how they's go about making it to begin with to sort the CNC drawings and sizes before any work started
It's a shame they went for the thread, if you where making the blade for real use I would expect the blade tang to be ground cylindrical and pass through the dust cylinder for real strength - that would require quite a bit more time and a cylindrical grinder however
that hilt and barrel assembly is absolutely delicious. fantastic job there.
Monty Oum's designs are so incredibly beautiful. When he created RWBY, he really outdid himself. Rest in Power, Monty
"Ilya's going to be using a piece of round stock...." *Picks up a rod of square stock
Thank you! Love the channel, and this build was amazing, as usual! Great job
Does anyone else find it fitting that Kerry and Matt were prominent in the making of this weapon? (Hint hint: their names)
Well matt hulum ceo of RT isnt really involved with RWBY unless your thinking of miles luna, kerry works good though
gunfighter jimmy Damn, you're right. I mixed up Matt and Miles. I'm so dumb
Yeah, I would love to see Turkish Yataghan, especially Assassin's Yataghan from AssCredRev.
IPostSwords a Kanabo could potentially be intereating, as well.
@wgk4845 yataghan are very cool swords. I need to add one to my collection eventually.
+IPostSwords Yeah, but for mere peasants like me, I am a bit disappointed that I can't found any replica being made by modern swordmakers. The only ones that I found were original antiques that belonged to the Janissaries. I wish I have enough money so I can comission one for myself.
"I'm not in charge of figuring that out"
Man, even the writers didn't figure Dust out until like... never
Oh dear, a RWBY weapon? Do you realize what you've awoken?
Ty Grenier The sleeping Ursa?
Ty Grenier the beast shall feed.
ITS ALSO A GUN
The Great Destroyer has arrived, the end is here!
The Great Destroyer has arrived, the end is here!
The Great Destroyer has arrived, the end is here!
Next time we'll have a scythe, which is alsoa gun.
Crescent rose
If they were going to do a weapon from RWBY I thought they'd do jaune's sword and shield
Kidawesome55 Yeah, same! I was pelsantly surprised today
Karuiko Does Stainless Steel work? Or some other metal that has to work
I'M SO HAPPY!!!! That was AWESOME you just need to make the rest of team RWBY's weapons then I'll be overwhelmed with joy
Corvo attano sword from Dishonored
this would be a great piece
I want to see Lady Maria's Rakuyo from Bloodborne
I've been waiting for so long to see you make a RWBY build, thank you so much!
I cried actual tears when they revealed the final product. Gorgeous
Please do a Warframe build off, theirs over 140 melee weapons to pick from, 3 factions that create them trough various methods. Traditional, Forged, and High Tech Fabrication. Perfect for the multiple generations of creators you have on hand.
YourSuperiors how about the Redeemer?
I was thinking more Skana, Jat Kittag, and Prova might be the choices, since they'd offer the most choices in building.
The Dark split sword😍😍
YourSuperiors YESS DUDE WARFRAME
The war
Can you do Pyrrha's weapon and Shield from RWBY next please
If Milo cannot cycle between a rifle, javelin and xiphos then it must be chucked away. That would be complete disrespect for the best girl, Pyrrha. #jokes
Plz do it plz,
Plz,
Plzzzzz,
I know machanisms are hard but plz
machinegun She is best girl though
No do Jaunes sword and shield made from Pyrrhas armour
they can actually make Miló transform into its 3 forms (I almost finish my cardboard replica which can do that then my parent accidentally broke it) but the rifle won't work because of common sense, the blade also can not shortened like its original version in the series, that why the blade must be removable
Pls do a virtuous dignity from NiER:Automata
Nah the Engine Blade is better
Hell or even the Type-40

Amber Celica

Yes
Ember Cecilia
Ember Cecelia
Could you make Ruby's Crescent Rose? That would be amazing!
Yes please!
not sure that would be possible, its incredibly impractical, even if everything but the blade want made of metal, i would still be really heavy. i think they chose weiss rapier since it was the most practical
DEDxGaMeR I would say yangs gauntlets would be more practical JUST BECAUSE she could train with it and it's much smaller
When I say train with it I mean it's easier to train with it heck she could just have them on all day to get used to then
Omg yes please do Ruby’s crescent syther
Huh I expected Rooster Teeth too help them with this or give them the girls height/weapons length etc.
DiploRaptor the rooster teeth team just drew it, they've no idea of how to actually make it
I think they show it in concept art, but not sure
They likely didn't because Monty had asked that none of the RWBY weapon replicas be made of metal, while I don't know if he meant for when people sell them, so this may still be fine but Monty did make this request.
Just a stab in the dark "hehehe, puns" but i think what monty ment by that was that he didn't want his creations to actually be used weapons. But its just a guess.
If you look up how tall the girls are (in Wikipedia) you can see how much shorter or taller their weapons are, same thing for thickness.
Can I just say how much I love your work with the DIY Cosplay Shop and Man at Arms Reforged? I mean you're doing so much awesome work with everything you're making and it's just awesome to see it! 😁
its nice to know you guys did one weapon from RWBY. i would love to have this weapon although Weiss is not my favorite character
I wonder if Rooster Teeth has seen this
DeLEET Titan They have
source?
Jake Mauger they put it on the channel, in the new page where we can leave comments
Weiss dies in volume 5
strifer desendent oh stop trying to spoil, we all know she's not gonna die, she's one of the four protagonists after all
I REALLY hope these guys were nice enough to give this masterpiece to Roosterteeth
Well, they didn't outreach to get Kara(Weiss' voice actress) to use the sword at the end, so I doubt it.
I'm pretty sure these weapons are commissioned and bought by individuals and these guys just happen to make videos about the ones they like
joey mcmuffin nope. They can't legally sell any of these. They have a collection.
I hope RT at least knows about it, im sure they'd love to see this thing
ICKY427 they do; I came here from a channel comment by RoosterTeeth on their activity feed suggesting this video
Honestly, it's pretty neat to see any of the weapons, considering how intricate they are.
I'm tossing my hat into what I think would be somewhat simpler this time. Lothric Knight Longsword from Dark Souls 3.
Raganui
I love your comment thank you for actually saying something interesting about the video rather than just making a request like 90% of the other comments
Thank you for a dark souls 3 suggestion. All they did was a dark souls 1 sword but the swords in ds3 are awesome
They also did the Greatsword of Artorias. Most of them couldn't lift it it was so huge lol
Exactly the Greatsword of Artorias was DS1 not DS3
It even has (Single) Action which a revolver has. Impressive build
Crescent rose from RWBY!
DarkDarlingGameplays yeah that is so iconic for the series
Do you think they are magicians????? They cant possibly do that with our tech now
poptart girl Seeming people have done it for cosplay where it transforms, I'm pretty sure these guys can.
DarkDarlingGameplays yes yes i agree
Would be cool, but rather complicated, especially due to it's size.
Great video on making the RWBY - Weiss Schnee’s Myrtenaster! What would have been the cherry on the sundae would be is to have Kara Eberle the voice of Weiss Schnee reaction the sword out and demoing it! Same idea to use on the other RWBY weapons in the future that you may create!
Robert Schenk or Sheena. I'm sure that's something she would love to see.
I'd love to see Hiccup's Fire Sword from How To Train Your Dragon 2
Yes! Definitely! Like a much cooler Blazing Sword! Imagine if the blade also collapses and sprays gas from the other end just like in the movie.
That is one hell of a blade to maintain.
Then it fits Weiss perfectly.
She expensive tho
Yes thank you, please do more RWBY weapons in the future please? 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
AJ the Dragon Slayer yes please there are so many great weapons, n maybe y'all can team up with the hack Smith to make Crescent Rose or Ember Celica. @Aweme
AJ the Dragon Slayer @Awe me
He said "the one we chose to start with" at the beginning. Possible indication of more in the future?
Team up with Alec Steele to do Blake's Swords !
I doubt they will be able to make Crescent Rose or Ember Celica, but there areplenty other ones they could pull off.
This sword is a masterpiece!
I now officially consider you gods, after building her weapon. thank you...just thank you. Your genius
Shiro Ketsueki What about their genius? You can't just end it mid sentence god damn it
Sorry. I was just got overwhelmed by the fact that the weapon of my favorite character from rwby, was put into reality. I found it genius to be able to build a complex weapon from rwby like that.
I wanna see Nora’s Weapon or even Crescent rose would be so cool
Crescent rose would be amazing

@@waytoohypernova i would like crescent rose :) but Nora's hammer would be cool too !
I have change from ¨when will they make them¨ to ¨what will they think next¨ cant wait for the other RWBY weapons.
dedicated to MONTY OUM
RIP!!! he would've LOVED t o see this :*(
So glad to see a RWBY build. Please do another one!
*Reads Guys Shirt with the Sloth with a cape*
“I’m not just lazy..IM SUPER LAZY!”
GG Dude.Your shirt says that and your not Lazy.
Dagger of Time from Prince of Persia games.
2Peache YES!!! PLEASE!!
It would be cool to see Jaune's updated sword from Vol 4
With the shield being the sheath and also the sword?
If they are able to make the shield sheath a sword then yeah absolutely
Aww Yeah. A RWBY weapon. Now we just need Ruby’s, Blake’s and Yang’s weapons. Maybe even Jaune’s good old Shield and Sword
OtakuMenace *Trippy Philosopher* Jaune's sword and shield combo is called Crocea Mors. In English, that's Yellow Death.
Don't forget Pyrrha, Ren and Nora
Never forget Pyrrha. o7 ;~;
It's funny how few (feasible) options there were, given the main character's weapon alone
Yet you still managed to create something amazing, good work lads!
