That is a master class on how it’s done. I wish I had been there. I did get to see them in 75 but this wasn’t on the set list that tour. It’s my favorite Zepp song followed by Ten Years Gone, Dazed & Confused and In the Light. ✌️❤️🎶

@@lesblatnyak5947 I had tix for the 77 show in Philly but tour was cancelled before they got here. Glad I got to see them once. I’ve seen Robert Plant about 20 times. He even smiled at me once.

Back in 1997 I saw the best concert of my life (and I also went to Woodstock 94, over 30 bands. Albany NY, Pepsi Arena, .........in July.......PLANT AND PAGE.. They started with Robert stating "contractually, we must perform 3 songs from the new album (walking into Clarksdale) but then we'll just have some fun!" After the first 3, it was 2 and a half hours of straight up Zeppelin and it was amazing.

This song was derived from a HOwling Wolf song, and it may be their best performed piece. Blues on overdrive, physically and emotionally.

I agree! I saw them in 1974, Page & Plant in 1994, Robert Plant in 2009 and Robert Plant with Alison Krauss in June 2023 (Taos, NM!). Robert Plant still has it, but with Jimmy Page it takes it to another level! Led Zeppelin was the perfect magical combination of 4 of the greatest musicians to come together to create music that will live on forever!

You need to listen to "Stairway to heaven" from the same concert, you will be blown away. That whole 73 MSG concert may be the best of any live performance.

This band love the blues, & many of their songs are on the blues side. You can’t go wrong with any of their songs, you think ones your favorite, until you hear the next. Robert Plant sings all the songs, he can sing a range of vocals. They are all pure talent, no modern gadgets, changing voice or instruments. Keep listening, you won’t be disappointed.

Hope you enjoyed this, Ace. I believe this is my favorite LZ song, along with Kashmir, (So grateful I got to see the Physical Graffiti tour -- omg what a religious experience). I would lie in bed in the dark as a teen listening to this song with tears in my eyes at the raw emotion and power. Who am I kidding... I still do!

This is a fascinating point you make near the end, because so many times reactors will look at stuff and even you and me and everybody, and it's hard to comprehend the number of views on it versus when it was posted and whether it was promoted at all. It's just a completely different world from back then.
But it really is an interesting thought experiment to me about what if TH-cam and Instagram and Tick Tock and all the rest you know we're in the flow at the time and how would we rack up those statistics now? It's just hard to wrap my brain around.

Ace you're getting a fine education on the blues. You have ZZ Top now under your belt, I suggest (besides more Led Zeppelin of course) you check out The Allman brothers band - Whipping Post. It's sure to go in the collection!

    Boom.
Try Stairway To Heaven from this same show. It expands the studio version into something as good or better. More of that raw emotion on display.
    Hoppy Birdday!
Fyi..R Plant was a blues aficionado from his youth...they all were. They couldn't readily get the blues music in England.
Clapton, john mayall, j Lennon Tull and many, many more were all into the blues.
When Lennon got off the plane the 1st time in the US, he was asked what he wanted to see and he replied, "Muddy Waters". Reporter asked, "Where's that?".
He responded something like, "you don't even know who your own musicms are"

YOU’RE NOT GETTING THE FULL EXPERIENCE OF WHAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN IN 1973,
CHECK OUT "TH-cam" "LED ZEPPELIN: THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME
THIS IS A MOVIE OF THE ENTIRE CONCERT OF THAT EVENING!!!. THE BAND STARTS PLAYING THE FIRST COUPLE OF SONGS AND YOU THINK..."YEA, THAT'S OK ROCK AND ROLL". BUT WHEN THEY GET WARMED UP AND START TO PLAY "SINCE I'VE BEEN LOVING YOU". HOW DO I PUT THIS?. YOU REMEMBER THE MOVIE "THE MATRIX" THAT SCENE, WHEN NEO IS GETTING HIS FIRST TRAINING ON THE MATRIX. THE TECHNICIAN SAYS, "YOU MIGHT WANT TO BUCKLE UP DOROTHY, CAUSE KANSAS ….IS GOING BYE BYE". “I’M NOT KIDDING”. ENJOY.

That dam pop up is because the record company decided to make an "official" video for this song 5-10 years ago. The normal version is slightly different, a little bit better and no pop up. It's still around on youtube but this has become the popular version and the one reactors find first. :( The original version has a short period of backstage footage before the song starts.
One reason the record company did this was because this song was not a hit for them when it came out in 1970. Only real Zeppelin fans knew about it. It became popular when the youtube reactors started reacting to it around 10 years ago.

Blues, jazz and rock can enable the musical artist to go along a plethora of paths toward the musical resolution. Study Barry Harris, the late jazz mentor. “Bird Lives”.

Tea for One is another great blues song by LZ, not many react to it but if you like blues it may be worth a listen. Also, I can recommend listening to Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac for some incredible blues singing and playing.
