It'd be impressive if it wasn't completely scripted for demonstration purposes. Look at the other times he "disarms" him with the string and notice how he just throws his weapon away because it was his cue to.
@@Shellackle This is a demonstration yes, but if this was a real fight would you struggle with your opponent for the control of your weapon that is chained into his while he has a perfectly free weapon on his off hand or would you quickly let your weapon go to switch to your free sidearm. Once you get the chain on the weapon it's very easy to just roll it more around it with slight movements to trap your opponent even more. I'm not saying these people would be able to pull this of in a real fight to death or anything but that was a quite realistic reaction to get your weapon chained up while you have another free one on your side.
@@Shellackle It’s a demonstration-likely a form or “Kata” that’s older than both of us combined. Yes. It is rehearsed, but these are not exactly meant to be replicated move-for-move. This is a technique perfected by my friends little brother. He would get mad and swing his yoyo around and try to crack your skull. Someone beat him down after he got hit in the coconut and I never saw this ancient technique used again until now.
The distance and timing control is absolutely amazing. The sheer level of skill needed to wield a weapon like that so naturally is insane. I'd probably clock myself in the head with the ball and get tangled up by the chain.
The way he does it is actually way easier that it looks. Rope dart or meteor hammer or suruchin are much harder to wield, which is why the kusari gama was a peasant's weapon.
@ToldYouSo This one here had a soft ball obviously, to not hurt his opponent. But try getting hit in the face by a real kusarigama, maybe make a video of it and put it on TH-cam, then tell me about cat toys again.
@ToldYouSo Yeah sure try to stab someone with a broken skull. People have killed each other with much simpler stuff like common rocks, so sure, a metal ball on a chain swung with great speed wouldn't get the job done... It obviously wasn't a weapon everyone used, this part you got correctly indeed. But saying that a direct hit to the head would do no damage is just "bullshido". It doesn't need the weight of a freakin train to do damage. A baseball bat isn't that heavy either, but it surely could kill someone. I've seen people telling others that a pistol would do the job much better. I don't know if those are just trolling, or plain stupid, but i think i don't need to mention that back then, when the kusarigama was invented, people couldn't just go to the gun shop and buy some pistols.
@ToldYouSo Well it's not worth my time to tell the same stuff over n over. Everyone could fling it around. Precise use would still require some sort of training. You're acting like the weight on it would need to be half a ton... And your last sentence was complete nonsense. For example: An unarmed fighter COULD beat a swordfighter, if he is skilled and maybe a bit lucky. Disarm him, then choke him to death with bare hands. That would mean just because an unarmed person killed a swordfighter, every sword would get abandoned and everyone would fight bare handed. That sentence made no sense. Just because some weapons are superior to others, it doesn't mean that no other weapon would be used and be able to kill. You're acting like i'm trying to convince you that the kusarigama is some godlike tool, which it obviously isn't. But it can definitely kill.

The guy with the sword is like "I take physical nullification to damage from lower leveled creatures. Sorry but you were destined to lose before this battle even started"
Loved it but it hits me the ball and chain would need a fair bit of space (outside one on one) whereas in a house or on a battlefield with others nearby the sword would have the advantage. Any records of it being used in actual battles??
But if they didn't remove it, the climax would have been moved to the next episode. We would have gotten a cliffhanger. damn manga readers, so hard to please.
I think it would depend on the fighting skills of the combatants and the armour because medium to heavy negates the advantage of range you have with this kind of weapon
Yun Chun I saw a show how put historical fighters against each other they put a ninja against a spartan warrior I mean the ninjas were assassins not fighters they could still kick some ass though so anyway they were talking about this sickle with chain and ball they said it's slow and a spartan can ezly counter it I mean sure they can counter Smth so fast and heavy in that armor how stupid were they that they thought the kinda weapons these masters use are easy to counter I hope these kinda arts a stay alive for ever
If I remember correctly, at the end of the chain there's a weight attacked. Meaning that if you get hit on the hands/arms, they'll break. So getting hit might not be a good idea.

I swear for the first 40 seconds he is just waving a twig with a string at the end
But the sword guy didn't even flinch
Loved it but it hits me the ball and chain would need a fair bit of space (outside one on one) whereas in a house or on a battlefield with others nearby the sword would have the advantage. Any records of it being used in actual battles??
The manga was better. They cut out the character's inner monologue entirely in this anime.
But if they didn't remove it, the climax would have been moved to the next episode. We would have gotten a cliffhanger. damn manga readers, so hard to please.
Lol
It’s called inner monologue of course you couldn’t hear it, why else do you think they were staring at each other for some time

Vagabond showed me how dangerous this weapon is against swordsmen. It's like an anti-samurai weapon
Yeah that shishido baiken fight is cool.
This is late but man I loved that manga, that fight was one of the greatest
@@tiberiuthestarseeker7499 Yeah, Vagabond is a masterpiece
I think it would depend on the fighting skills of the combatants and the armour because medium to heavy negates the advantage of range you have with this kind of weapon
VAGABONDDDD BEST MANGA EVER :D)
Everyone who has trained with weapons can confirm: this man is freaking precise!
@Chichopuente I feel that's an obvious observation. I doubt you did what you said you did
Chichopuente you still have the curved blades
is this what jubei learned?
Yun Chun so are the world yo-yo champions. I’d argue that they are even more precise.

@@MrTerror923 that's another case lmao
If I remember correctly, at the end of the chain there's a weight attacked. Meaning that if you get hit on the hands/arms, they'll break. So getting hit might not be a good idea.
imagine half of kilo iron ball hit you in any place of your body.
will take caution or wildly charge your oponent? if the ball missing the target close range weapon. A SICKLE!
Lets be honest no fucking way a real samurai would have his sword pulled from him its a demonstration the guy drops it as soon as it wraps his sword irl if that happend the samurai would just stab him

@@davidczarco if you mean guardian ape then he's actually pretty easy, first phase you have to strike only when you have an opening and it's best to set him on fire using the flame vent.
