Flying with them in February with a transfer in Dubai.
Looking forward to 4 flights with them all on the 380.
    First time for me.

Wow that’s exciting. I was going to fly with Emirates next week with a layover in Dubai, wanted to visit the Burj Khalifa since it was an eight hour wait for the next flight. Ended up choosing a direct flight to where I’m going

As a plane spotter, I like a lot of diversity at airports. To my eyes, the more types of airliners and the more airlines the better. I mean, an endless stream of A320 and B737 family jets gets boring quickly. More types just makes spotting more fun in my opinion.
Emirates has developed a niche market and a system that is working really well. I hope as their fleet diversifies they'll continue to have success.
After taking several flights on A380s, the type, especially with Emirates, has become one of my favorite planes to fly on. I am very glad that 5hey plan to fly the type into the 2040s!

I may be wrong, but I remember seeing somewhere that EK already cancelled some 777x and increased their order of a350...
More importantly, the costs associated with fleet complexity tend to be higher than any discount Boeing (or Airbus) could offer..

Personally if I was Tim Clark, I would use the 777-8’s to replace their 200LR’s and -300ER’s and the -9 to replace the A380’s. As the -8 and -300 are the same size, the -8 makes an ideal replacement. The -9 I think is better for the A380 as the largest twin engine aircraft, being bigger than the A350-1000.

Also Emirates already ordered A350 so they have to do retraining to that type anyways. And nobody said Airbus will train the pilots, but the cost for pilot training is often part of the deal. So basically you get a discount on the planes to offset the costs for retraining.
