“The most significant and creatively vital album in Norwegian Black Metal! An exclusive high-class re-issue, mastered by legendary Satyr himself!”
"There are, at most, a handful of albums and a handful of songs that really define modern day black metal. Nemesis Divina is definitely one of those records, and ‘Mother North‘ is definitely one of those songs,” Satyr boldly (and rightfully) claims.
When Satyricon released their third album in 1996, their status as one of the most significant and creatively vital bands in Norwegian black metal was already beyond dispute, but Nemesis Divina was no ordinary record or just another step along the road to infamy. From its uniquely vibrant and impactful artwork, which broke every supposed rule in the black metal handbook with its vivid colours and refined aesthetic core, to the supremely confident and idiosyncratic songs and individual performances that heralded a newfound sophistication and a freshly incisive vision, Nemesis Divina almost single-handedly took black metal from its voluntarily shadowy and obscure origins into the glaring spotlight of the international metal scene. It showcased a band that finally had the skill and the musical intuition to back up the undeniable potency of their artistic vision. Sonically devastating and compositionally meticulous, songs like ‘Mother North‘ and ‘The Dawn Of A New Age‘ redefined what black metal was capable of, while proudly retaining the genre’s ageless essence and aesthetic values.
To herald the 20th anniversary of this most illustrious piece of dark art, Nemesis Divina will be re-released in spring 2016 via Napalm Records, newly remastered by Satyr himself, and boasts upgraded and revamped packaging, worthy of an album that has had a huge and enduring impact on both the black metal scene and underground heavy music in general. Satyricon will then embark on a series of exclusive one-off shows, performing the record in full for the first and only time.“It’s not what we do and it won’t happen again!” avows frontman and creative mastermind Satyr. “This band, as you know, is definitely not retrospective. But we started playing live in 1996. Our most groundbreaking milestone record came out in 1996. It’s the only one that we still play several songs from in our set to this day… so if we're ever going to do a reissue, do anniversary shows, and make it a big deal, it’s gonna be 'Nemesis Divina', and it has to be now.”

    Mother North
How can they sleep while their beds are burning?
    Mother North
    Your fields are bleeding
    Memories, the invisible wounds
Pictures that enshrine your throne, gone?
A future benighted, still they are blind
Pigeonhearted beings of flesh and blood
    Keeps closing their eyes
For the dangers that threat ourselves and our nature
And that is why they all enrage me
Sometimes in the dead of the night I mesmerize my soul
Sights and visions, prophecies and horror
    They all come in one
    Mother North
United we stand, together we walk
    Phantom North
I'll be there when you hunt them down

if only Satyricon, could take few steps back in their artistic journey, and continue to greater heights that lead from this highpoint that was Nemesis Divina.

Una obra maestra del género. Me acuerdo cuando compré el original, recién publicado, aluciné con la música. Fue algo nuevo para mí. Las fotos del libreto eran acojonantes. Tenía 17-18 años y me impacto mucho musicalmente y visualmente.

+Malaguti AMP To me the best is Nemesis Divina itself. Usually, a song has parts and rhythms that I like and others that I don't. Shorter or longer parts, it depends on the song. But there's not one single sound in Nemesis Divina I feel like skipping. So it is the perfect song to me.

+Malaguti AMP even though most people seem to hate Varg, I'd still list filosofem in there. Oh and if you want to hear a really enjoyable album... Listen to Temple under hell by Erabus enthroned(I might have messed up the spelling).

      @cfs7338 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Probably Satyr, but I know that Nocturno Culto from Darkthrone also layed down some guitar on this album.
He toured with Satyricon in 96'

Berly Tannyono Putra Just to be clear; I'm 99% sure that Satyr made the riff, but I'm not sure who recorded it.

***** yeah, i believe Satyr wrote most of the instruments but im not sure who played the guitars on the studio..it was flawless and too technical for him..
