    The 170s are a huge step up from the 153 and 156s that used to use this line, I loved Lincoln when I was there

      Only been here a few weeks but back home I've had to use plenty of Northern 150s and 156s and I can definitely say the 170s are an improvement!

    What a fun visit! It’s really interesting to explore local stations, I’ve been to a couple of tiny ones!

    Brilliant video, never been to those Three locations before between Newark and Lincoln. Been to Lincoln before but wouldn't go and film trains on the Lincoln Christmas Market. Platforms are rammed

      Aw shame about that, must say though Lincoln is definitely rather nice!

    Thanks again Nick. I used to work in Lincoln in the 80's when Lincoln still had 2 stations

    That large, new housing estate right next to Hykeham station used to be a foundry which closed down a few years ago, to be replaced by those houses.

    Walking nearby rural roads, villages, fields and parks around stations has been bits I often felt missing in Geoff's videos and your walk is a welcoming addition to this video.
    Even if there's nothing in the middle of nowhere, "overseas" viewers like me want to see what's around an unassuming British railway station, and in my case I'm watching in South Korea and I can enjoy looking at, for example, houses in rural England which look very different from houses in rural South Korea.

    Rural towns really are nice. Seems great fun, maybe give the OS maps a quick once over before you go to a station. Then you know where you can and can't walk, but I guess that ruins the fun. Great video tho, would have liked to see you also explore Newark as well.

    Great video Nick! The local stations do provide a lot of history and character. I'd definitely like to see more videos like this. I've been to Lincoln only once on a class 158!

    Llanbister Road station is a really good one to visit, if you like stations that are out in the sticks and far from the village (about 5 miles) it serves. 🙂

    If you plan on making it as far south as Leicester, would be a blast joining in for that with some local knowledge! (local to South Wigston here)

    There are a lot of stations which appear to be in the middle of nowhere in Lincolnshire and north of the Humber
    Great video 👍

    Aussie here. Really enjoyed this vlog. Would u consider providing passenger stats and frequency of service information for all stations in the vlog. Also, I enjoyed the way in which u explored the towns close to the Stations.

    As a fellow transport enthusiast who goes to uni in Lincoln it's good to see some Lincolnshire train content, even if there isn't much actual railway mileage here!

    Nearby Southwell has an abundance of enticing paths - including one along the former railway line which, sadly, Dr B did for. Nice channel, Geoff - I mean, Nick😊

      @@NickBadley come, come - you must have watched a video or so by THE Geoff Marshall? Transport enthusiast extraordinaire? Mind you, his chief rival (certainly when it comes to international travel} Dylan of Dylan’s Travel Reports seems to be easing up and going to retrain as a HGV driver. So, there is an opening in the market! Good luck! Young, quirky, enthusiastic - just the ticket.

    • @NickBadley
      @NickBadley  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I don’t think I saw it on here, but I think this is the only stretch in the UK where two tracks cross 90 degrees to each other?

    • @Thornaby37
      @Thornaby37 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, just north of Newark, where the East Coast Main Line crosses the Lincoln to Nottingham line
      There is a standard gauge line that crosses a narrow gauge line at Porthmadog in Wales
